In a major decision aimed at providing relief to people during the harsh summer season, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Friday announced revised timings for all Punjab Government offices, schools and colleges. Under the new schedule, working hours will be changed from the existing 9 AM – 5 PM to 7:30 AM – 1:30 PM in larger public interest.

Announcing the decision, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stated that the revised timings will come into effect from May 25 and will remain implemented till further orders. “The decision has been taken to facilitate the common people so they can conveniently get their work done in government offices during the scorching heat. The decision was taken after due consultation with all stakeholders to ensure the welfare of everyone,” he added.

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann further stated that the revised timings will enable people to complete their official work early in the morning without having to take leave from their jobs. “The move will also greatly benefit employees, as they will be able to finish their duties before temperatures rise sharply during the day,” he added.

The Chief Minister also pointed out that employees will now get more time to spend with their children, who will also return home around the same time due to the revised school and college timings. “The decision reflects the Punjab Government’s people-centric approach and commitment towards improving the daily lives of citizens,” he noted.

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stated that the revised timings will apply to all offices of the Punjab Government along with schools and colleges. “According to Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) data, the peak power load begins after 1 pm, and therefore the new office timings will also help reduce electricity consumption and ease pressure on the power infrastructure,” he added.

Reiterating the Punjab Government’s commitment towards the welfare of every section of society, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann asserted that no stone will be left unturned in safeguarding public convenience and ensuring people’s well-being.

According to Dr Saleem Zaidi, uric acid is a waste product that naturally forms inside the body. Normally, the kidneys remove it through urine. However, when UA levels become too high, crystals can start accumulating in the joints.

As per the doctor, this build-up may lead to:

  • Stiffness
  • Difficulty in movement
  • Burning sensation in joints

He explained that the issue becomes more painful when the crystals continue collecting over time, especially in the feet, knees, fingers and ankles.

High Uric Acid 21-Day Morning Formula

The doctor shared a simple two-ingredient drink that may help reduce discomfort linked to high uric acid levels.

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon ajwain (carom seeds)
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 glass water

How To Prepare:

  1. Add ajwain and grated ginger to one glass of water.
  2. Boil the mixture properly.
  3. Let the water reduce to around three-fourths of the original quantity.
  4. Strain the drink.

How To Consume:

Drink it in the morning around 30 minutes before breakfast.

According to Dr Zaidi, following this formula regularly for 21 days may help reduce swelling, support joint comfort and gradually clear uric acid crystal build-up in the joints.

Other Important Tips For Managing High UA

Doctors generally recommend lifestyle changes along with remedies for better UA control. Some commonly suggested tips include:

  • Drink plenty of water daily
  • Reduce sugary drinks and alcohol
  • Avoid excessive red meat and processed foods

According to health experts, hydration plays an important role because it helps the kidneys flush out extra uric acid from the body more effectively.

Cancer Risk Linked To Hidden Chemicals In Nail Polish

According to Dr Vartika Vishwani, older and traditional nail polishes often contained chemicals like formaldehyde, toluene and DBP. Among them, formaldehyde is considered the biggest concern.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has classified formaldehyde as a Group 1 carcinogen, which means it has the potential to increase cancer risk in humans.

However, the doctor also clarified that normal users who occasionally apply nail polish are at a very low risk. The bigger concern is for salon workers who inhale these chemicals daily for long hours.

She explained that continuous exposure to formaldehyde fumes may increase the chances of developing nasopharyngeal cancers in people working in salons and beauty spaces.

The doctor also discussed gel manicures and UV nail lamps. A 2023 laboratory study suggested that UV exposure from nail lamps could potentially cause DNA mutations linked to skin cancer risk. However, there is still no direct evidence proving this in humans, and research is ongoing.

How To Reduce Cancer Risk While Using Nail Polish

Dr Vishwani said people do not need to completely stop using nail polish. Instead, they should become more careful while choosing products and visiting salons.

Here are some important precautions she suggested:

  • Always look for labels like “5-Free,” “10-Free,” or “13-Free” while buying nail polish
  • Avoid products containing:
    • Formaldehyde
    • Toluene
    • DBP
    • Camphor
    • TPO
  • Apply SPF sunscreen on hands before getting gel manicures done under UV lamps
  • Ask salons which nail polish brands and chemicals they are using

The biggest disappointment is easily the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset. Many competing smartphones under Rs 30,000 already offer much more powerful processors from the Snapdragon 7 series or higher-end Dimensity chips.

Previous-generation Realme 15T featured a stronger Dimensity 6400 Max chipset, making this feel like a downgrade instead of an upgrade. Even 14T had the same processor as 16T.

2. Poor Price-To-Performance Ratio

The pricing has shocked many buyers online.

4. Slow Charging For Such A Huge Battery

Although the 8,000mAh battery is one of the phone’s biggest highlights, many believe the 45W charging speed is too slow for such a massive battery size.

Considering Realme already offers 67W and 80W charging on some cheaper phones, users expected much faster charging support here as well.

5. Weak Secondary Camera Setup

The rear camera system includes a 50MP Sony sensor and a 2MP monochrome camera. However, there is no ultra-wide sensor or telephoto lens.

At this price point, many buyers expected a more versatile camera setup with optical image stabilisation (OIS) and additional photography features.

The smartphone will officially go on sale in India starting May 27 through Realme India, Flipkart and offline retail stores.

Bhagwant Mann Continues Statewide Anti-Gangster Crackdown Under ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann continued its statewide anti-gangster campaign under the “Gangstran Te Vaar” operation, carrying out extensive raids and detentions across Punjab in coordination with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF).

According to police officials, 552 raids were conducted at identified locations during Day 121 of the operation.
