Broad scalped his 500 test wickets, England won the Wisden Trophy

England won the final test match of the three-match test series against the West Indies by 269 runs. With this win, the English team also clinched the Wisden Trophy by 2-1. Stuart Board has adjourned as the player the match as well as the series. Broad took 10 wickets in the final game, he also scored 62 runs as the number 9 batsmen in the first innings.

Before the start of this series, Broad’s place in the team line was also judged but he showed why he is still the leader of the wolf pack in the English bowling lining-up. He also became the 7th bowler in the history fo test cricket to hunt 500 wickets.

The Wisden Trophy was all about the performances by the all-rounder, Holder in Southampton test, Stokes in Manchester, and now Broad in the final encounter. On the other hand, the West Indies team found their right momentum and their win in the first test match showed their potential to combine as a team. Well, they failed to utilize the opportunities in the second and third test match. West Indies should also be credited to travel England in this pandemic and be the part of cricket restart at the international level.

How players retaliated on the new cricketing laws?

The bio-secure bubble and the new cricketing laws were the biggest challenges for all the participating players. No saliva rule was deteriorated the bowlers dreams and made it hard for the bowling team to maintain the bowling momentum. Dominic Sibley was charged for using Saliva in the second test match and Jofra Archer was dropped after he broked the bio-secure protocol. The new cricketing laws are the night-mare for the cricketers but they have to get in the zone as fast as they can.

Sometimes the kick in the backside can do a lot of good: Irfan Pathan

Recently, Irfan Pathan made a statement on Rishabh Pant and said sometimes a kick in the backside can do a lot of good.

Since the 2019 World Cup Rishabh Pant has been considered as the premier Indian wicket-keeper batsmen.
MS Dhoni’s exit from international cricket created space for many youngsters. Rishabh Pant was the supreme choice for the selectors and captain Kohli, but Pant never utilized the chances he got, and later on, he was dropped from the Indian one-day squad.

Pant’s World Cup Dream

Last year was a roller coaster journey for Rishabh Pant. Again when we talk about the 2019 World Cup, Rishabh Pant wasn’t the part of the tournament initially. Later on when Shikhar Dhawan was injured and was dropped from squad then Rishabh Pant was called-up as his replacement.

The 22-year-old didn’t play too many matches in the World Cup, but his 30-40 run contribution in some matches showed his potential.

Being the part of the Indian World Cup squad was the biggest dream for Pant and that too in his first year of international cricket.

He scored 32 runs in the semifinal encounter against New Zealand and to an extent, he held the innings with him. The biggest allegation on Rishabh was he never exploited his chances into a positive fortune. After the 2019 World Cup, he emerged as the first choice for taking over MS Dhoni’s mantle but the Roorkie based star was out of form through last year.

Things went out of control for Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul was later chosen before him to be the part of the Indian squad as a wicket-keeper batsman.

Recently, Irfan Pathan made a statement on Rishabh Pant and said, “Sometimes you are getting too much backing from the captain and the team management, but I think when you get a little bit of kick on your back, that’s when if you have the talent you are going to go big.”

“I have no doubt that even though all the pressure is coming on him, he had to miss out some matches in T20 cricket with KL Rahul going out and doing what he did as a wicketkeeper as well and that is going to put pressure, but I think that will do a world of good to Rishabh Pant,” he added.

A day before the arrival of the Rafale fighter jets in Ambala, the district administration has imposed Section 144 of the CrPC in the areas around the Indian Air Force (IAF) Station in Ambala Cantonment on Tuesday.

Rafale fighter aircraft left for India from France on 27 July. 5 Rafael will join Ambala Airforce on 29 July. Rafale aircraft will fly at a speed of about 1000 km per hour while completing the journey from France to India.

India’s new Rafale fighters will significantly enhance the offensive capabilities of the air force and prove to be a game-changer with their advanced weaponry, high-tech sensors, superior radar for detection and tracking of targets and ability to carry an impressive payload, people familiar with the aircraft’s capability said.

The imminent arrival of the five Rafales, out of the 36 contracted from France in the Rs 59,000 crore deal inked in September 2016, comes two decades after IAF first demanded such fighters and an intense BJP-Congress political dogfight over corruption allegations in the last couple of years.

Coming to India, these final plans were refueled at refueling tanker of the French Air Force at Al Dhafra airbase in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), using its Airbus A330 multi-role tanker transport (MRTT) aircraft.

Airafel planes are expected to be formally inducted into the Air Force from next month.

SC reserves order PLEA to transfer PM CARES funds to NDRF

Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday reserved its order on a plea that the funds received by the PM CARES Fund be transfered to the National Disaster Response Fund for tackling the Covid-19 pandemic.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, told a bench headed by Justice Ashok Bhushan that the PM CARES Fund is a “voluntary fund” while funds to the NDRF and SDRF are made available through budgetary allocations.

Senior advocate Dushyant Dave, appearing for petitioner NGO Centre for Public Interest Litigation (CPIL), said they are not doubting the bonafide of anyone but PM CARES Fund is allegedly in contravention of provisions of the Disaster Management Act.

Dushyant claimed that an audit of the NDRF is being conducted by the Comptroller and Auditor-General (CAG) but the government has said the audit of the PM CARES Fund will be done by private auditors.

The Supreme Court has reserved its order on the issue raised in the petition regarding transferring the money collected under the PM CARES Fund to the NDRF.

On June 17, the court had asked the Centre to file its response on the plea, which has sought a direction that all the contributions made by individuals and institutions for the COVID-19 pandemic should be credited to the NDRF, rather than to the PM CARES Fund.

Now Centre reply came after senior advocate Dushyant Dave, told a bench of Justices Ashok Bhushan, RS Reddy and MR Shah that the government was rightly scrutinizing contributions to the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation. And contributions of the PM Cares Fund should likely be scanned.

He said while NDRF was subject to auditing by the CAG, the PM Cares Fund was scrutinised by independent auditors. “Why can’t it be made subject to public scrutiny?” he asked.

COVID-19 Vaccine Shots, Alliance Eyes Price Range For upto $40

London– Coordinators of a global corona-virus vaccines funding scheme are looking at a wide range of potential prices for COVID-19 shots. With a reported $40 per dose price tag the “highest number” in that range, one of the co-leads of the project said on Monday.

Seth Berkley, chief executive of the GAVI vaccine alliance, which is co-leading the COVAX facility ensure fair global availability of COVID-19 shots, said the facility had no specific target price.

Berkley also rejected comments from European Union sources. EU last week said the COVAX facility was targeting a $40 price for COVID vaccines forrich countries. The EU sources had said the EU would be seeking to secure cheaper deals outside of the COVAX scheme.

“There was a large range of numbers, and they (the EU sources) put the highest number out,” Berkley sai. He said that in a presentation to EU officials, COVAX officials had given “a range of different prices.”

“And that ($40) was the maximum price in the range for high income countries, rather than a set price,” he told Reuters.

COVAX is co-led by GAVI, the World Health Organization and the CEPI Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations and is designed to guarantee fast and equitable access globally to COVID-19 vaccines once they are developed, they will also seek to negotiate the price for both richer and poorer countries.

Its aim is to secure supplies of and deliver 2 billion doses across countries who sign up by the end of 2021. GAVI said earlier this month that more than 75 countries have expressed interest in joining COVAX.

Government to boost drugs and medical devices production

Union chemicals and fertilizers minister DV Sadananda Gowda on Monday summarized proposals to boost local manufacturing in the bulk drugs and medical device industries to lessen India’s dependence on imports, mainly from China.

India has a robust $40 billion pharmaceutical sector that is observed as a reliable supplier of generic drugs. But it is reliant on China for about 70% of active pharmaceutical ingredients, or raw materials, which are often cheaper to import than making.

The schemes of the Department of Pharmaceuticals were upheld by the Union Cabinet in March this year. “In line with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the schemes have been conceptualised for making India Atma Nirbhar in pharma sector,” Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilisers DV Sadananda Gowda said in a press conference.

The pandemic has uncovered drawbacks in global supply chains and posed a “threat to the health security of the country,” the minister tweeted.

“These parks will be based on plug and play model with prior regulatory approvals, state of art infrastructure, excellent connectivity, affordable land, competitive utility charges, and (a) strong R&D ecosystem,” he said, adding these would begin operating in “about two or three years”.
