Premier League would “continue to consult” with the Football Association and EFL

The Premier League said it would “continue to consult” with the Football Association and EFL “regarding the scheduling of all domestic competitions”. However, the start date for teams still playing in European competitions is still under discussion. It remains possible they will be given a delayed start, given they could be playing well into August.

Last-16 ties in the Europa League – featuring Manchester United and Wolves – resume on 5 August, with the final scheduled to take place on 21 August.

Remaining Champions League last-16 ties resume from 7 August, with Manchester City and Chelsea still in the competition.

Neymar scored the winning goal in the finals of the French Cup, where Paris Saint-German won the title. The win against Saint-Etienne 1-0 is now the most remarkable title win in French Cup. However, coach Thomas Tuchel faced an anxious wait for the complete fitness of Kylian Mbappe ahead of next month’s Champions League quarter-final against Atlanta.

The French star was later seen emerging from the tunnel on the crutches following a dreadful challenge which resulted in the dismissal of Saint-Etienne captain Loic Perrin.

“Everyone is worried. Everyone who saw the foul is worried. Of course, I’m worried, but at the same time, I’m happy as well.  I’m very happy because we won but we have to stay patient because we don’t have any news. I think he will undergo tests tonight,” said the coach Tuchel.

PSG dominance in the tournament

PSG won the first of a potential three trophies this summer, they claimed 13th French Cup with League Cup final against Lyon to come next Friday before the resumption of their European campaign in Portugal.

“It was very difficult, which is perhaps the best thing,” added Tuchel whose side won their League 1 title awarded in April after the season was ended.

France forward left the pitch in tears and later returned to the dugout on crutches. He will be a serious doubt for PSG’s Champions League quarter-final with Atalanta in August.

New security protocol hits Chinese companies

Chinese manufacturer companies that have invested in India to set up foreign direct investment route will now need a fresh security protocol to be eligible for government contracts. This move will impact phone and computer manufacturer as well drug manufacturers.

This is fresh guidelines issued by the finance ministry on Thursday evening, requiring bidders from any country sharing a land border with India to register with a “competent authority” to be eligible for government contracts. With an exception made for bidders from countries where India has extended a line of credit or is engaged in development projects, Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh would be exempted, officials told TOI.

According to Times Of India, by this the order is maily targeting companies from China since those based in Pakistan hardly participate in Indian contracts. Even smartphone-makers such as Xiaomi and Oppo will need to go through a fresh protocol. As part of the registration process through a team comprising officials from both ministries of home and external affairs. Also department which promotes industry and internal trade, should be eligible to sell on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM), that is online public procurement platform.

Even telecom equipment suppliers Huawei and ZTE as well as power gear players Dongfang and China Light and Power is also uncertain. But still there is lack of clarity on companies like Lenovo, as Legend Holdings, the company that owns the brand, started out in China but are registered in Hong Kong.

“This will hit their business. They first need a clearance for additional investments in India and then seek fresh registration to participate in government contracts,” explained an official.

Independence day: large gathering should be avoided, plea from centre

The Centre has pleaded all states to resist large gathering of people while celebrating the Independence Day amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Unlike previous years, the Independence Day events, including the main ceremony at the Red Fort in Delhi, this time will be celebrated under specific preventive measures like maintaining social distancing, wearing of masks, proper sanitisation and avoiding large congregations, as necessitated by the Covid-19 crisis.

The ministry said it would be appropriate that the theme of ‘Aatma Nirbhar Bharat’, announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a self-reliant India, was suitably spread and publicised through various activities and messages in the functions and on social media during the Independence Day celebrations.

In an advisory, the home ministry said Covid-19 warriors like doctors, health and sanitation workers should be invited in the ceremony as a recognition of their noble service in the fight against the pandemic.

“Therefore, all programmes should be organized in a way that large congregation of people is avoided and technology is used in a best possible manner for celebration befitting the occasion,” the advisory said.

It said some people who recovered from the infection might also be invited.

The events organised could be webcast in order to reach out people at large, who are not able to participate, it said.

The base minimum airfare of household flights varies from ₹2,000 to ₹6,500 and the maximum range from ₹6,000 to ₹18,600.

China instructed US to close Consulate at Chengdu

China instructed the United States on Friday to close its consulate in the western city of Chengdu, ratcheting up a tactful conflict at a time when relations have sunk to their lowest level in decades.

Beijing accused the Trump administration of the breakdown in relations, calling its own action justified after Washington notified China this week to shutter its consulate in Houston and accused its diplomats of acting illegally.

A Chinese official, in turn, denounced American diplomats in Chengdu, a southwestern city, for interfering in China’s affairs.

The Trump administration on Tuesday instructed the Houston consulate closed within 72 hours.

Analysts on both sides say bilateral relations are at their awful since 1972, when President Richard M. Nixon began overtures to the People’s Republic of China, leading to the start of formal diplomatic relations in 1979.

Today, China is increasingly authoritarian at home, and more aggressive in its hostility to freedom everywhere else,” Mr Pompeo said.

China has given the US until Monday to close the consulate in Chengdu, according to the editor of China’s Global Times.

Sanjana Sanghi responds to Kangana Ranaut’s claims of late response to Me Too allegations against Sushant Singh Rajput

Actor Sanjana Sanghi has reacted to Team Kangana Ranaut’s recent allegations against her. In a latest tweet, Kangana’s official team has asked “Why Sanjana took her own sweet time to clarify” alleged harassment rumour against Sushant Singh Rajput .

Responding to the claim, the Dil Bechara actress said that ‘nobody has the authority’ to judge if her response was fast enough or not. “I have said more than enough about what happened. Also, I’ve given a clarification which should have been enough. At that time, it wasn’t late, nobody is in authority to decide what’s late and what’s not. You don’t fuel rumours. It is not the responsibility or job to clarify rumours,” she said in an interview to Zoom TV.

Further, she added that it was wrong to make it a part of bandwagon and term the incident as a ‘Me Too’ case as both Sushant and her had denied all claims of any harassment. “I am a student of journalism, I’ve studied at Delhi University and that’s not the journalism I was taught. So, I don’t see it as the Me Too movement. For me, apparently getting late in giving clarification for rumours, but I did it still because it was important for us, Sushant and me,” she said.

Earlier this tweet, Kangana Ranaut’s team had written on Twitter, “Many blinds claimed tht Sushant raped Sanjana, such news abt her harassment wr common in those days,Why Sanjana took her own sweet time to clarify? Why she nvr spoke so passionately abt her friendship with him when he ws alive? @mumbaipolice cn investigate.”

Back in 2018, Sanjana has refuted alleged rumours of harassment, clearing the air, she had written: “On returning from a long trip to the US yesterday, I read several baseless and unfounded stories with respect to misconduct and misbehaviour on the sets of our film Kizie Aur Manny. I’d like to clarify that no such incident took place with me. Let’s put an end to these conjectures.

Sushant had also shared screenshots of his conversations with Sanjana and denied the rumours on the sets of their film. “I feel sad to reveal personal information but it seems that there is no other way to state what actually happened, in the midst of this curated, well-timed and agenda-driven smear campaign. From the first day of the shoot till the last day, this is what happened on the sets with Sanjana. Misconduct? Not at all. Agenda? You decide,” he had written in an Instagram post.
