No propaganda can deter India’s unit: Home Minister Amit Shah

Union Home Minister on Wednesday evening took to Twitter to warn against the external forces that are trying to divide India’s integrity. He joined a host of renowned figures including Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar among others as he asked Indians to stand united against propaganda that threatens sovereignty.

“No propaganda can deter India’s unity! No propaganda can stop India to attain new heights! Propaganda can not decide India’s fate only ‘Progress’ can. India stands united and together to achieve progress,” Mr Shah tweeted as he shared the official statement released by Ministry of External Affairs warning of vested interest groups trying to mobilise international support against India.

On Wednesday, a slew of India’s prominent figures took to Twitter to join ‘India Against Propaganda’ movement, warning the countrymen of external forces that are posing as a threat to India’s integrity.

The aforementioned statements came after foreign celebs including Rihanna, Greta Thunberg, Lilly Singh and Mia Khalifa among others’ statement who raised eyebrows over India’s ongoing farmers’ protest.

From Virat Kohli to Sachin Tendulkar, cricketers urge Indians to stand together in this hour of disagreement

Indian prominent names, mostly from cricket fraternity, were irked with Rihanna’s tweet after the pop star took to Twitter to bring attention to the ongoing farmers’ protest in India. From Sachin Tendulkar to Virat Kohli and many others, Twitter was stormed with many cricketers being upfront about India’s unity while asking foreign celebs to not indulge in country’s internal matters.

Taking to Twitter, Sachin Tendulkar chipped in his opinion as he wrote, “India’s sovereignty cannot be compromised. External forces can be spectators but not participants. Indians know India and should decide for India. Let’s remain united as a nation.”

The movement was also joined by India skipper Virat Kohli who urged his followers to stay united in this hour of disagreements while adding that farmers are integral part of our country.

“As the world’s largest democracy, India is more than capable of taking her internal issues to amicable solutions. Onwards and upwards. #IndiaTogether #IndiaAgainstPropaganda,” wrote former India captain Anil Kumble as he joined the India Against Propaganda campaign.

India vice captain Rohit Sharma asked for togetherness as he wrote, “India has always been stronger when we all stand together and finding a solution is the need of the hour. Our farmers play an important role in our nation’s well being and I am sure everyone will play their roles to find a solution TOGETHER. #IndiaTogether”

This is an internal matter which I’m sure will be resolved through dialogue. Jai Hind #IndiaStandsTogether#IndiaAgainstPropoganda,” wrote India head coach Ravi Shashtri.

These tweets from cricketers come after an official statement from Ministry of External Affairs that said India is more than capable in handling its own matter and foreign celebs’ interest is unrequited.

Rihanna’s tweet on farmers’ protest reignites Diljit vs Kangana on Twitter

Diljit Dosanjh vs Kangana Ranaut once again intensified on Twitter after the former released a song, titled RiRi, lavishing heaps of praises on international pop star Rihanna who became the first international celeb with significant following to throw light on ongoing farmers’ protest in India. Kangana, who was the first celeb to react to Rihanna’s tweet and didn’t mind stooping as low as ever while trying to bring the pop star down has now slammed Diljit Dosanjh for his token of appreciation.

Taking to Twitter to mock Diljit, Kangana while sharing Diljit’s post wrote, “They also need to earn a rupee or two. Since when have you been planning this? It takes at least a month to release a song, and libru (short derogatory term for liberal) want us to believe it’s all organic. Ha ha.”

Just minutes later, Diljit, who has previously been loggerheads with Kangana over the same topic, took to thrash Kangana’s statement as he wrote in Punjabi, “Rs 2 (laughing emoji) Don’t talk to me about your job,” while adding that the song, made on Rihanna, only took half an hour to go. Asking Kangana to leave him, Diljit wrote, “Please don’t bore me.”

Kanagna then flaunted her patriotism as she said her one and only job is deshbhakti, while calling Diljit a Khalistani(Terrorist). “This country is only for Indian, not Khalistanis. Say you are not a Khalistani, condemn fringe groups such as Khalistanis participating in protests. If you say this I will apologise and consider you a true patriot,” she tweeted.

Diljit, further, replying to her said that the country doesn’t belong to her, asking Kangana to stop pretending like she’s God.

When Kangana continued her blatant claims to prove that Diljit is a Khalistani, Diljit signed off by saying, “You create your own responses to problems and celebrate… who asked for your certificate of approval?” while adding that he wouldn’t be replying to Kangana’s tweet anymore.

Rihanna triggered a debate on Twitter after she took to the micro-blogging site to share a report by CNN that mentioned internet shutdown on outskirts of India asking her 100 million followers to pay attention to the topic.

India slams comments by foreign celebs on farmers’ protest

The Indian government has reacted to the worldwide criticism that the country has attracted over farmers’ protests. In an official statement, Ministry of foreign affairs said statements made by foreign individuals were neither accurate nor responsible.

Vested interest groups are trying to enforce their agenda on the protests to derail them, the government said while adding that these groups have tried to mobilise global support against India. The statement also referred to “sensationalist social media hashtags and comments” by “celebrities and others” without naming anyone.

“We would like to emphasise that these protests must be seen in the context of India’s democratic ethos and polity, and the efforts of the government and the concerned farmer groups to resolve the impasse,” the statement said.

“Before rushing to comment on such matters, we would urge that the facts be ascertained, and a proper understanding of the issues at hand be undertaken. The temptation of sensationalist social media hashtags and comments, especially when resorted to by celebrities and others, is neither accurate nor responsible,” it said.

The development comes after pop sensation Rihanna raised her voice against the internet cut on the outskirts of New Delhi, followed by Greta Thunberg’s solidarity with the protesting farmers.

On Tuesday singer Rihanna’s tweet in support of Indians farmers attracted worldwide criticism of government’s law. “Why aren’t we talking about this?! #FarmersProtest,” Rihanna had tweeted along with a link to the CNN article that talked about internet shutdown in the country.

“We stand in solidarity with the #FarmersProtest in India,” Greta Thungberg activist said in her tweet.

Author Meena Harris, niece of US vice-president Kamala Harris, also tweeted about the farmers’ protest. “We ALL should be outraged by India’s internet shutdowns and paramilitary violence against farmer protesters,” she wrote.

Mia Khalifa, too, weighed in her opinion as she called the internet shutdown a violation of human rights.

Cricket Australia confirms Cricket South Africa’s disagreement in hosting the tour

Cricket Australia, Cricket South Africa, Australia tour of South Africa,

A day after postponing the proposed three-match Test series against South Africa, the CEO of Cricket Australia Nick Hockley has confirmed that Proteas has declined the offer of hosting the Test series, citing other commitments.

CSA expressed disappointment after Cricket Australia postponed their tour even after making huge arrangements for the visitors.

“We’ve been doing an enormous amount of work with CSA and we have last night’s decision, so we’ll work through over the coming weeks and months when we may be able to reschedule the series. We did offer to host the series here, but CSA made that very clear that they have also got lots of other commitments and with quarantine periods and the like, that wasn’t feasible,” ESPNcricinfo quoted Hockley as saying.

“We didn’t explore neutral venues in too much detail, the question if you think about a neutral venue is where, and there are challenges in lots of different jurisdictions, so certainly we made the formal offer to host and CSA, which we respect entirely, made their position very clear and we’ve continued to work as hard as we can to try to make it happen. But we came to a point where people were starting to commit costs, people were starting to have to do pre-departure protocols and enter into bio-secure environments in South Africa in preparation,” he added.

Hockley said that Cricket Australia tried their best but the residual risk didn’t allow them to make any other decision.

“I think we gave ourselves every shot, we couldn’t have left it any later, but in the end that residual risk, the implications if we did get a positive, the chances of getting a positive, meant we really didn’t have any other decision,” said Hockley.

“We are extremely disappointed by the decision of CA. CSA has been working tirelessly in recent weeks to ensure that we meet every single expectation of CA,” he said.

“This was set to be the longest tour in a BSE comprising a three-match Test series that was scheduled to begin with Australia’s arrival later in the month. So to be informed about the CA decision at the eleventh hour is frustrating,” he added.

If this series gets postponed then New Zealand will become the first team to seal a spot in the World Test Championship final which will be played in June at Lord’s London.

Diljit Dosanjh dedicates song to pop icon Rihanna, Kangana trolls singer

Punjabi actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh has released a new song in honour of American pop icon Rihanna after the latter shed light on the ongoing farmers’ protest in India on Tuesday. The song was released by Diljit on his YouTube channel on Wednesday afternoon titled, “RiRi (Rihanna).”

In the two-minute-fifteen-second song, Diljit talks about Rihanna’s home country Barbados and how she is an angel who has descended from the heavens. The rest of the song has a lot of cliches about beauty and clothing that are often heard in Punjabi songs.

The song is titled RiRi, a reference to the singer’s nickname. RiRi has been written by Raj Ranjodh with music by Intense.

Click here to listen the song:

Diljit, however, shared a Punjabi proverb on Twitter: “Jaat Di Kohr Kirli, Shateeriyan Nu Jaffe… (which in English means that your status in life is rather insignificant but you know how to talk big).” Later, he shared a picture of Rihanna on Instagram Stories, with the song Run This Town playing in the background.

The song was released shortly after Rihanna’s tweet on the ongoing farmer’s protest, which drew a lot of public attention. The international pop star shared an article on Farmers protest and tweeted, “What aren’t we talking about this?!#FarmersProtest”.

Not just Diljit, several other celebs like Shruti Seth, Swara Bhasker, Richa Chadha, etc have hailed Rihanna for supporting the farmers. Interestingly, apart from Rihanna, environmental activist Greta Thunberg, Mia Khalifa, had also supported the farmers protest.

However, it seems his song didn’t go down well with Kangana Ranaut. Thus, replying to Diljit Dosanjh on the tweet where he announced the song, she wrote “Isko bhi apne 2 rupees banane hain, yeh sab kabse plan ho raha hai ?One month toh minimum lagega to prep for video and announcement, and libru want us to believe it’s all organic ha ha #Indiatogether #IndiaAgainstPropoganda”

Diljit Dosanjh is not someone who will let Kangana Ranaut go after making such allegations without giving a befitting reply. He replied, “2 Rupees. Apne Wali Job Mainu Na Das.. Gana Tan half An Hour Ch Bana Lene An Asi.. Tere te Banaun Nu Jee Ni Karda Mint tan 2 Hee Lagne an.. HAR JAGHA TU BOLNA HUNDA.. Ja Yaar Bore Na Kar .. Kam Kar Apna.. ( 2 Rupees. Don’t tell me about your job. I can make a song in just half hour. I just don’t feel like making a song on you.2 minute for it. You have to speak everywhere. Please go away and don’t bore me) (sic).”

Pragyan Ojha takes a jibe over Rihanna’ tweet

Pragyan Ojha, Rihanna,

International pop star Rihanna has tweeted in support of farmers’ protest at the Delhi borders. In reply to her remark, many leaders from the political spectrum had taken a jibe at the international pop star.

Former Indian cricketer Pragyan Ojha targetted Rihanna and said that “We don’t need an outsider poking her nose in our internal matters.”

Meanwhile, former England left-arm spinner Monty Panesar has invited Rihanna to talk on the ongoing farmers’ agitation in India.

Apart from Rihana, Kamala Harris’ nephew Meena Harris and Mia Khalifa also tweeted on support of farmers’ stir.

‘We are secular party’: Congress distanced itself from NSUI’s campaign for collecting funds for Ram temple

For the construction of Ram Mnadir Construction in Ayodhya, the Congress Party’s student organization NSUI has started raising funds by holding the saffron flag. Like ABVP in Jaipur’s Commerce College, Rajasthan, joined the fund dedication campaign and not only collected donations but also raised slogans like Ram. Expressing happiness over this changed form of Congress student organization, ABVP said that whichever way it will try to support in this holy work, it will welcome it.

Everyone was surprised to see the NSUI students holding the saffron flag with their organization flags in hand and chanting the name Ram. By going to every college, the people of the organization are collecting donations through the campaign “1 Rupee Ram’s Name”. They also have two fund collection letters in their hands, on which the name Ram is written and they are also appealing to every person to pay at least 1 rupee.

While this campaign was started by NSUI in Commerce College, the student leaders of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad also reached Commerce College during this period. Due to the face-to-face of the two student organizations, a situation of hotness was also seen for some time, but the heavy police Jabte present on the spot did not let the two come in front of each other.

All teachers of student or person are being donated by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, they are being given a slip. In this case, there is an account of every rupee of the amount donated by ABVP, although NSUI has also started a campaign for donations from today, which is a welcome step. Donations will be collected from ABPP for the construction of Ram temple in Rajasthan continuously. “

Meanwhile Congress distanced itself from this campaign

At the same time, the National Treasurer of the Congress Pawan Bansal said about the donations being made for the Ram temple, that the NSUI in Rajasthan will be collecting donations for the Ram temple, I am not aware of it. He said that this is not the stand of Congress. The Congress has no plans to collect donations for the Ram temple at the Delhi level.

He said, “I was contacted but I refused. For me religion is my personal faith and personal matter. Congress is secular as a party. BJP has collected donations many times in the name of Ram temple. BJP has become the contractor for the donation of Ram temple. Congress will not improve it. I and my family have contributed immensely in building the temple behind my house in Chandigarh, but as a party, the face of Congress is secular and will remain secular. ”
