PM Modi to launch AB-PMJAY SEHAT scheme for Jammu and Kashmir tomorrow

According to the Jammu and Kashmir Department of Information and Public Relations, the SEHAT scheme means Social Endeavor for Health and Telemedicine. It is a health insurance scheme for union territories. The department has described it as a historic moment for the state. The department wrote on its official Twitter handle, ‘It is a historic moment for Jammu and Kashmir. Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to launch SEHAT. Social Endeavor for Health and Telemedicine Health Insurance Scheme for entire Jammu and Kashmir on 26 December 2020.

Lt. Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha said that all the people living in the Union Territory will get free health cover up to 5 lakhs. He wrote, ‘It is a historic moment for Jammu and Kashmir. Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch PMJAY-SEHAT on 26 December 2020. All residents of Jammu and Kashmir will get free cashless cover up to Rs 5 lakh. At the same time, about 15 lakh more will be available for additional families for operational expansion. This scheme will work with PM-JAY in insurance mode. The benefit of this scheme will be available in the entire country. Also, the facilities of this scheme will be available in all the hospitals brought under PM-JAY scheme.

Universal health coverage covers everything related to the health sector. This includes everything from prevention of diseases to palliative care, treatment, improving health facilities, making these facilities accessible to all, for essential, quality healthcare. So that the burden of diseases does not increase on the pocket of ordinary citizens. In a way, this scheme also ensures the financial security of the citizens.

Six JD(U) MLAs joins BJP in Arunachal Pradesh 


In a major embarrassment for Nitish Kumar, six out of seven JD(U) MLAs joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Arunachal Pradesh on Friday. It is a significant development since both BJP and JD(U) are allies in Bihar as well as the Centre.

The development comes a day ahead of the announcement of the panchayat and municipal poll results.

Six JD(U) MLAs who joined BJP are Talem Taboh from Rumgong Assembly Constituency, Hayeng Mangfi (Chayang Tajo), Jikke Tako (Tali), Dorjee Wangdi Kharma (Kalaktang), Dongru Siongju (Bomdila) and Kanggong Taku from Mariyang-Geku constituency, the bulletin said.

On 26 November, the JD(U) had issued show-cause notices to Siongju, Kharma and Taku for “anti-party” activities, and suspended them.

The six JD(U) MLAs had earlier elected Talem Taboh as the new Legislature Party leader allegedly without the knowledge of senior party members. The PPA MLA was also suspended by the regional outfit earlier this month.

From December 28, 29 Corona vaccine dry run will be conducted in Assam, Andhra, Gujarat, Punjab

The corona virus has caused havoc all over the world. Experts say that until the corona vaccine is ready. Until then, it cannot be got rid of. Although no corona vaccine has yet received Emergency Use Authority in India, the central administration is in the final stages of preparing several vaccines.

A vaccine dry run will be conducted in Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Gujarat and Punjab from next week. The government has informed that the dry run will help in understanding whether there is any deficiency in the whole process. The government said, it will see end to end mobilization, Kovid vaccination process and usage of Co-WIN. “Co-WIN is a mobile application that will be monitored online through the entire process.

The dry run will be the same as the vaccine planned on the vaccine cause or the vaccine will be applied. Vaccine will not be given in this dry run, only people’s data will be taken, it will be uploaded on cowin app. Many things like micro planning, session site management and securing online data will be tested.

The ministry says that it will create rehearsal plans in two districts of every state, especially for five different vaccine centers – such as district hospital, community health center or primary health center, urban center, private hospital, rural outreach center. Ludhiana and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar of Punjab have been selected for the dry run of Kovid Vaccination. Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner V. Sharma said that 805 service locations have been set for vaccination here.

So far, three forma companies in India have sought approval for emergency use of their vaccine. Pfizer was at the forefront of the vaccine race, on December 4, it first sought approval from the Indian government for emergency use of the vaccine. In India, the Oxford Vaccine with Serum Institute applied for the approval of the second emergency use. Hyderabad-based company Bharat Biotech, which is making the vaccine in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), has also applied for emergency use of its vaccine.

Arya Rajendran to become Thiruvananthapuram mayor

Twenty-one year old Arya Rajendran, the CPI(M) candidate who won from the Mudavanmukal ward in the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, may become the new mayor of the Kerala capital.

The CPI(M) district committee, had a meeting on Friday following the party’s win in the recently held civic body elections, and has recommended Arya’s name as the next mayor. 

The left-dominating local body in the state capital was retained by LDF, but it faced a strong setback as two of its mayoral candidates and existing mayor faced losses.

Jameela Sreedharan, a senior candidate representing Peroorkada ward in the city was initially under consideration to be the mayor.

However, there occurred a collective demand to pick a younger person for the coveted position.

This recommendation is likely to be accepted by the state committee and the final decision is likely to be announced by Saturday Arya Rajendran is a law student at All Saints College, Thiruvanathapuram.

In the just concluded civic polls, Arya won from the Mudavanmugal ward, and was reportedly the party’s youngest candidate this time.

The district secretariat recommended Arya’s name in order to push for a Mayor belonging to the younger generation.

Earlier, Jameela Sreedharan, who won from Peroorkada ward and Gayathri Babu from Vanchiyoor ward were linked to the Mayor post.

Actor Rajinikanth has been admitted to hospital in Hyderabad after his health deteriorated. The veteran actor is said to be suffering from blood pressure problem. The statement issued by the hospital said, “Rajinikanth has been admitted to the hospital this morning.

For the past 10 days, he was shooting a movie in Hyderabad. Some people have also been found to be Corona positive on the film’s set. Rajinikanth underwent a corona test on 22 December and the report came back negative. Since then, he had isolated himself and was under surveillance.

According to the hospital, Rajinikanth has no symptoms of corona. But their blood pressure is fluctuating a lot. He has been admitted to the hospital for further investigations. Till his blood pressure is normal, he will remain admitted in the hospital. They will be investigated. It was also said that there is no other symptom in Rajinikanth other than the fluctuation in blood pressure. His condition is stable.

Health experts point out that this is often seen in cases when people ignore their blood pressure problem and do not monitor it regularly or do not use their medicines properly. Therefore, it is said that monitoring of high blood pressure must be done. Apart from this, high blood pressure can also be controlled through regular exercise and dietary changes.

Meanwhile, Ladakh MP Jamyang Sering Namgyal said on Friday that China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) proposal has been rejected. He said that we have been watching the drama of the neighboring country for a long time. He also said that people need not worry as long as there is a Modi government at the Center.

Jamyang Sering Namgyal said that we have been watching the drama of neighboring countries for centuries. The Ladakh MP further said that as long as there is Modi ji at the Center and there is Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, then no countryman needs to worry. Bollywood actress and Former Bigg Boss Winner Gauahar Khan has finally tied the knot with social media personality and choreographer Zaid Drabar. The lovely couple have been sharing pictures from their pre wedding festivites and their first picture as newly married is finally out.

On Thursday, the couple had their mehndi ceremony in Mumbai. For the mehndi they adopt two different outfits, first they wore Gauahar was dressed in a golden lehenga with a yellow top. She also wore dainty floral jewellery while Zaid was in a white and golden outfit. And in another outfit they were seen in navy blue clothes with golden and pink details.


On the same day, Gauhar took some time from her wedding festivities and post a pictures of her hands decorated with henna,and wrote “Mehendi ki raat aayi! Thanking my jaan, my brother @asaadzkhan for the lovely gift that I’m wearing which was given to me 4 years back! You couldn’t make it to the wedding but the love surely did! The couple posed for the paparazzi who were gathered outside the venue and Gauahar and Zaid showed their henna-decorated hands.

Gauahar and Zaid had been dating each other for a few months now. They had announced their engagement in November and subsequently revealed that they are all set to start the new chapter of their lives.

President Kovind, PM Modi lead tributes for Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his 96th birth anniversary

President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime minister Narendra Modi led tributes to former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Sadaiv Atal on his 96th birth anniversary on Friday. 

Union ministers including Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nirmala Sitharaman and Piyush Goyal were also present Sadaiv Atal — a memorial built near Rashtriya Smriti Sthal to mark the birth anniversary of the stalwart.

Taking to Twitter, PM Modi remembered the “unprecedented heights of development” that the former Prime Minister took the country to and wrote, “Salutations to the former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his birth anniversary…His efforts to build a strong and prosperous India will always be remembered.”

To honour the former Prime Minister on his birth anniversary, PM Modi has a number of events planned for the day. He will first be releasing a book titled Atal Bihari Vajpayee in Parliament: A Commemorative Volume’ in the Parliament.

The book will be released at a function in the Central Hall of the Parliament on December 25, that is also observed as Good Governance Day.

“As a parliamentarian and particularly as Prime Minister, Atalji made innumerable contributions which paved the way for a stronger economy through bold reforms and rapid development of infrastructure. Atalji also distinguished himself as a fine statesman and a world leader,” a Lok Sabha release said, reported ANI.

Meanwhile, PM Modi also remembered Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya on his birth anniversary and tweeted, “A big tribute to Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya ji, the pioneer of the Kashi Hindu University and a great multidisciplinary genius, on his birth anniversary. He devoted his entire life to social reform and service to the nation. His contribution for the country will continue to inspire generations,” Modi said on Twitter.

Covid-19 update: With 23,067 fresh infections, India’s tally past 1,01,46,845

India has logged in 23,067 fresh Covid-19 infections, taking the total number of cases to 1,01,46,845. With 336 deaths in the last 24 hours, the overall tally of fatalities has climbed to 1,47,092, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said.

As many as 97,17,834 people have recovered, with 24,661 recovering in the last 24 hours. As of now, there are 2,81,919 active cases. The recovery rate stands at 95.75 per cent while the fatality rate is 1.45 per cent.

A total of 16,63,05,762 samples have been tested for Covid-19 till now. Of these, 9,97,396 samples were tested on Thursday: Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)

Farmers’ Protest Highlights: Sachin Pilot attacks Centre

Congress leader Sachin Pilot attacked Centre over farm laws, saying that the Centre must take back the new laws as they have coercively passed it.

He alleged that the government has overlooked the interest of farmers and the issue of minimum support price must be addressed. He said the central government should repeal these laws as they are making the farmers feel insecure about their future.

Meanwhile, Delhi Jal Board (DJB) vice chairman and AAP MLA Raghav Chadha on Thursday claimed that BJP workers vandalised his office and attacked staff members at the board’s headquarters at Jhandewalan in Delhi.

However, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) denied the allegations saying the attack was orchestrated by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

According to Chadha, the vandals said that the attack should serve as a warning to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and AAP MLAs for supporting the ongoing farmers’ protest.

Union Minister Anurag Thakur on Friday said that the Central government is ready to talk and clear doubts of the farmers who are protesting against the new farm laws. He also claimed that the Narendra Modi government will double the farmers’ income by 2020.

“Many farmers have thanked PM Modi for the new agriculture laws. We will double farmers’ income by 2022. The government is ready to talk and clear doubts of the farmers who are protesting. A solution can be found only through dialogue,” he said.

As the protest against the farm laws continues into its 30th day, Congress leaders marched to the Rashtrapati Bhavan and submitted to the President a memorandum containing 2 crore signatures seeking his intervention in farm laws issue.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to interact today with farmers from six states during which they will share their experience on various initiatives taken by the Centre, in yet another outreach attempt.

Partho Dasgupta, Former BARC CEO, arrested in TRP scam

The crime branch of Mumbai Police arrested former CEO Partho Dasgupta of the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) from Pune district in the fake TRP scam, an official said.

 He is the fifteenth person to be arrested in the case related to alleged manipulation of Television Rating Points (TRP) by some TV channels.

He has been arrested from Rajgad Police Station jurisdiction in Pune Rural and will be produced before the court on Friday, according to several media reports.

Dasgupta is the second person associated with the rating agency who has been arrested in the TRP rigging scam. Earlier, former BARC COO Romil Ramgarhia was also arrested by the Mumbai Police in same case.

The TRP scam came into light after a complain from a UP resident and later Mumbai Police also found out some leads which claimed some households were being bribed to tune into certain channels to ramp up their TRP.

Many prominent names including Arnab Goswami, Managing Director and Editor in Chief of Republic TV, and Republic CEO Vikas Khanchandani have been arrested in the alleged TRP manipulation case.

India vs Australia: Third Test likely to be shifted in Melbourne from Sydney due to COVID outbreak

Cricket Australia (CA) said on Thursday that efforts are being made to conduct the third Test as per the original schedule, despite fresh cases of coronavirus infection in Sydney, but Melbourne (MCG) is expected to host the third Test if conditions do not improve.

There is uncertainty about the third Test, which starts in Sydney from 7 January, after new cases of corona infection were found on the northern coasts of Sydney. The Boxing Day Test is to be held in Melbourne from 26 December and is also in the race to host the third Test.

Cricket Australia said in a statement, “We will give Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) full opportunity to host the third Test and Gaba the fourth Test. If the situation does not improve in Sydney, under the emergency plan we will conduct the third Test with the Government of Victoria at Melbourne Cricket Ground and the fourth Test will be played in Brisbane.”
