Second batch of Rafale arrives today

The second consignment of three Rafale planes from France has arrived in India on Wednesday between China and Tanatani in eastern Ladakh. According to the Air Force, after flying from France, these aircraft landed nonstop at the Jamnagar airbase of Gujarat in about eight and a half hours. 3 With the arrival of Rafal, the strength of the Indian Air Force has increased further. Let us know that earlier on July 28, five Rafale aircraft reached India and were officially inducted into the Indian Air Force at Ambala on 10 September.

Three fighter aircraft reached Jamner airbase
The Indian Air Force tweeted and said, “The second consignment of Rafale aircraft arrived in India on November 4, 2020 at 8:14 pm without flight after flying from France.” Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has tweeted this tweet of the Indian Air Force.

Indian Airforce said, three Rafale fighter jets flew from a French airbase and three reached India after mid-air refueling en route. It took more than 8 hours for the aircraft to arrive directly from France to show the long-range operational capability of the Air Force

Within the next two years, 36 Rafals will join the Air Force. With the induction of these aircraft, the strength of the Air Force will increase significantly, especially in the manner in which China is growing with Ladakh in the air. Due to the deployment of missiles like Meteor, Sculpt, Mica in this fighter aircraft, this aircraft becomes very dangerous which can kill enemies on air and air to ground. Not only this, this aircraft can carry out many missions simultaneously, due to which it falls on others.

Sikkim government bans firecrackers

On Wednesday, Sikkim government imposed a ban on use of firecrackers throughout the state in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis.

Chief Secretary S C Gupta notified the order under provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, to impose a complete ban on bursting of firecrackers in the state till further orders.

He said, although the active cases in the state have declined and a significant number of patients has recovered from the disease, the increase in air pollution on account of bursting firecrackers may prove hazardous for those who have recovered as well as active COVID-19 patients.

Starting from Rajasthan and Odisha to Bengal and Haryana — these states have made it mandatory to ban the use of fire crackers, keeping in mind the pollution and coronavirus pandemic in mind.

The Rajasthan government has decided to ban the sale of firecrackers during the festive season in the state in the wake of the crisis created by the coronavirus pandemic. “Protecting the lives of people is paramount for the government in this challenging time,” Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said.

Meanwhile, Delhi is set for its first full-fledged date with ‘green’ crackers this Deepavali amid growing sentiment against not deepening the air pollution crisis the Capital countenances every winter.

A ban on fireworks in Delhi was imposed in 2018 and in 2019 only ‘green’ crackers were allowed, but the permission had come too late for manufacturers to ensure their availability on time.

The U.S. Left the Paris climate Agreement

The United States on Wednesday formally left the Paris Agreement, a global pact forged five years ago to avert the threat of catastrophic climate change.

The move, long threatened by US President Donald Trump and triggered by his administration a year ago, further isolates the United States in the world but has no immediate impact on international efforts to curb global warming.

Some 189 countries remain committed to the 2015 Paris Agreement.

Moving forward the agreement aims to keep the global increase in average temperatures worldwide “well below” two degrees Celsius, ideally no more than 1.5 Celsius, compared to pre-industrial levels.

A further six countries have signed, but not ratified the pact.

Scientists said any rise beyond two degrees Celsius could have a devastating impact on large parts of the world, raising sea levels, stoking tropical storms and worsening droughts and floods.

The Paris Accord requires countries to set their own voluntary targets for reducing greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide.

“Donald Trump seems to think the United States should go it alone and to an extent he has a point when he talks about the US not getting its military entangled all over the world,” said Larry Donnelly, a US law expert at University College Galway and Democrat Abroad spokesperson.

“But I think diplomatic engagement on issues like this – and especially an issue like climate change which affects us all.

To rejoin the Paris Agreement, a president would have to issue a formal notification to the U.N., and would be able to rejoin 30 days later.

Poland’s protests against abortion ban

A Poland court banned almost all abortions – with exceptions only for cases of rape, incest, or where the mother’s health is at risk.

Poland’s rightwing government has delayed implementation of a controversial court ruling that would outlaw almost all abortion after it prompted the largest protests since the fall of communism.

“There is a discussion going on, and it would be good to take some time for dialogue and for finding a new position in this situation, which is difficult and stirs high emotions,” Michał Dworczyk, the head of the prime minister’s office, told Polish media on Tuesday.

Huge crowds turned out to protest in the Polish capital, Warsaw, on Friday against a court decision to ban nearly all abortions, making it one of the largest demonstrations seen in the country in decades.

Warsaw Mayor Rafal Trzaskowski said more than 100,000 people were in attendance, while protest organizers put the figure at 150,000.

Police detained 37 people Friday evening, the vast majority of whom were football hooligans, Sylwester Marczak, spokesman for the Warsaw Police headquarters, said Saturday morning. Taking into account the huge number of participants, it was a “very peaceful” protest, he added.

Abortions carried out when the foetus is malformed, which accounted for 98% of legal terminations last year, have now been outlawed.

Poland already had some of the EU’s strictest abortion laws.

Fewer than 2,000 legal terminations are carried out each year. But women’s groups estimate that up to 200,000 abortions are either performed illegally, or abroad.

Arnab Goswami arrested by Mumbai police, know reason

Raigad police arrested two others, including Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami, on Wednesday morning. They are accused of forcing the 53-year-old interior designer and his mother to commit suicide in 2018. Among the two people arrested with Arnab in this case, one is Feroze Sheikh and the other is Nitesh Sarada. Goswami is arrested from Worli while Feroz is arrested from Kandivali and Nitesh from Jogeshwari.

The Mumbai Police has not officially revealed in which case Arnab Goswami has been arrested. It is being told that Arnab has been arrested under Section 306 of the IPC for abetment in the alleged suicide case of designer Anvay Naik and his mother Kumud Naik. In a letter written before the suicide in May 2018, Anvay Naik alleged that Arnab Goswami did not pay after the interior design of Republic Network’s studio.

According to the news agency ANI, Arnab Goswami has alleged that the Mumbai Police barged into the house and scrambled with him. Republic TV channel has shared video clips, in which police are seen entering Goswami’s house and clashes are also taking place. At the moment, the hashtag #ArnabGoswami is trending on Twitter with this news.

Shiv Sena MP and Spokesperson Sanjay Raut has said that there is a rule of law in Maharashtra and there is no action in the spirit of revenge. He said that whoever violates the law, the police will take action against him. When Raut was asked questions on Arnab’s arrest, whether the police action on Arnab Goswami was in retaliation, he gave this answer. Raut said, “The government of Maharashtra never takes action with a sense of revenge. There is a rule of law in Maharashtra. If the police has to have any evidence in the investigation, then the police can take action on anyone.”

Facebook, Twitter suspend several accounts for spreading misleading information related to US election

Social media giants Twitter and Facebook have suspended numerous accounts for spreading misinformation about voting in the US election, reported reuters. According to the report, the accounts were freshly created with the motive to spread right-learning news.

Twitter Inc has said that the accounts violated its “coordination” policy by posting identical content while operating as independent entities.

One of the accounts suspended is SVNewsAlerts which had more than 78,000 Twitter followers, with more than 10,000 added in the past week. The other accounts suspended by Twitter are FJNewsReporter, Crisis_Intel and Faytuks.

Facebook also banned the US based pages called SV News and FJ news on their platform.

As per the report, some of these accounts had huge following in Russia, which has been accused of meddling in the US election 2016 and 2020.

Even as the companies have taken action against the accounts, false news spread by them is still making rounds on the internet.

For months, social media giants have been constantly working to make their platforms a trustworthy place by rolling new policies to curb misinformation related to the hotly contested US elections.

Twitter, Donald Trump’s favourite platform, had issued a written policy highlighting its post-election plans on Monday.

“People on Twitter, including candidates for office, may not claim an election win before it is authoritatively called,” Twitter mentioned. The company said  that it will be prioritizing the presidential race as well as “other highly contested races where there may be significant issues with misleading information.”

Facebook, meanwhile, said that it is planning to warn users against trusting premature projection of victory in the US election. It said that accounts making such claims will be issued warning, directing users to the platforms’ respective authrised voting information centers.

In US, Facebook and Instagram will also feature badges on top of the screen which will convey the “votes are being counted” – until the final results come out.

US election 2020: Joe Biden leads with 131 electoral votes, Trump at 98

The electoral votes of US Election 2020 are in counting and the battle between Democrat Joe Biden and his Republican challenger Donald Trump seems to be as intense as ever. Polls for the further voting have been closed with President Trump and former vice-president Biden concluding their decisive campaigns.

As Trump and Biden await their entry to the White House, US media declared wins for the Republican candidate in 12 states so far including Indiana, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Tennessee and West Virginia. Biden has projected win over 10 states including New York, Washington Conneticut.

So far, Biden has managed to garner 131 electoral votes while Trump stands at 98. The number required to win is 270. While Biden might seem to have win this race, the battle is far from over as results of some key swing states are yet to be declared.

The main factors that Americans have decided their votes upon are surging covid-19 pandemic, economic fairness and racial injustice.

With Trump’s sweeping win in Alabama, Okalhoma, and Biden taking over his home state of Delware and Virginia, the night opened with predictable victories for both the candidates.

As of now, Joe Biden has established a lead in Utah and Arizona, according to US media projections. The collision is intense in North Carolina. Meanwhile, Trump has coasted victory in West Virginia, becoming the only Republican to register win in the state after Bill Clinton in 1996.

Millions of voters came out to vote and stood in lines for hours even amid pandemic to decide their fate for next four years. In a historic outcome, more than 102 million casted their early votes, days or weeks before the election.

Democratic candidate Joe Biden today said if he was elected to power, “there will be no red states or blue states, just the United States”.

Many big Tech companies shows surge ahead of Rest of the Economy

While the rest of the US economy languished earlier this year, the tech industry’s biggest companies seemed immune to the downturn, surging as the country worked, learned and shopped from home.

As the economy is showing signs of improvement, Amazon, Apple, Alphabet and Facebook reported profits.

According to reports, Amazon reported record sales, and an almost 200 percent rise in profits, as the pandemic accelerated the transition to online shopping. Despite a boycott of its advertising over the summer, Facebook had another blockbuster quarter. Alphabet’s record quarterly net profit was up 59 percent, as marketers plowed money into advertisements for Google search and YouTube. And Apple’s sales rose even though the pandemic forced it to push back the iPhone 12’s release to October, in the current quarter. On Tuesday, Microsoft, Amazon’s closest competitor in cloud computing, also reported its most profitable quarter, growing 30 percent from a year earlier. “The scene that’s playing out fundamentally is that these tech stalwarts are gaining more market share by the day,” said Dan Ives, managing director of equity research at Wedbush Securities. “It’s ‘A Tale of Two Cities’ for this group of tech companies and everyone else.”
