China illegally occupies Nepal’s land at many places

China has illegally occupied Nepal’s land at several places spreading over seven bordering districts and Indian intelligence agencies have sounded an alert in New Delhi.

The agencies have flagged that Beijing is fast moving forward and further pushing Nepali boundaries by encroaching more and more landmass.

The report also talked about the Survey Department of Nepal flagging China’s attempts to grab land before Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli which was ignored.

It stated that Nepali districts which are victims of China’s land-grabbing plan includes Dolakha, Gorkha, Darchula, Humla, Sindhupalchowk, Sankhuwasabha and Rasuwa.

China has pushed the international boundary 1,500 metres towards Nepal in Dolakha including pushing the boundary pillar Number 57 in the Korlang area in Dolakha, which was previously located at top of Korlang.

Similar to Dolakha, China has relocated Boundary Pillar Numbers 35, 37 and 38 in Gorkha district and Boundary Pillar Number 62 in Nampa Bhanjyang in Solukhumbu.

According to media reports from Kathmandu, China has occupied land in about 11 places in four districts of Nepal, all along the Nepal-Tibet border.

The residents of Rui village in Gorkha district were agitating for identity document from Nepali authorities when they were, reportedly, presented with Chinese documents.

Mehbooba Mufti disrespecting Indian flag; Article 370 won’t be restored: Prasad

The Centre on Saturday accused Peoples Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti of disrespecting the Indian flag and said that Article 370 will not be restored, PTI reported.

Mufti had on Friday said that she would not raise the tricolour till the Jammu and Kashmir flag is brought back and that she will not abandon the battle for the special status of the erstwhile state relocated on August 5, 2019.

Her comments that she will not hold the Tricolour till the Kashmiri flag is restored is “downright denunciation” of the national flag’s sanctity, senior BJP leader and Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said.

Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad questioned the silence of the so-called secular lobby at this anti-national remark. There can be nothing more objectionable, said Prasad.

Prasad claimed that the revocation of the Article 370 has led to increased development in the union territory with the weaker sections of society, like SCs, STs, OBCs and women, enjoying the same rights that they do in the rest of the country.

People participated in local polls in Jammu and Kashmir with joy and happiness, he said.

NBA against victimization of journalists, urges to follow code of ethics

National Broadcast Association (NBA) has expressed disdain over recent events in Mumbai as the clash between Republic TV and Mumbai Police. Talking about the incident, it said that the clash is posing a threat to the credibility and respect of two great institutions — media and police.

“We are deeply concerned that journalists working in the newsroom have become victims of this unfortunate conflict,” it said.

NBA further said that it does not endorse the kind of journalism being practised by Republic TV and even though the channel does not subscribe to NBA’s code, it still take strong exception to cases filed against its editorial staff.

“We do not approve of the kind of journalism that is being practiced by Republic TV. And even though Republic TV is not a member of NBA and does not subscribe to our Code, we still take strong exception to cases filed against its editorial staff. We stand for the freedom of speech and expression of the media as enshrined in the Constitution of India. At the same time, we endorse the practice of ethics in journalism and put fair and balanced reporting at the core of what we report upon,” it said.

“News broadcasters are governed by the independent regulatory body, NBSA, headed by (Retd.) Justice A.K. Sikri. NBSA over the years has played an extremely important role in being a watchdog by monitoring content of news channels. It has acted against well known national and regional broadcasters by levelling fines, apologies and warnings in several matters including the coverage of the death of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. We appeal that non member broadcasters be requested to follow the Code of Ethics and Guidelines of NBSA,” it added.

NBA further expressed concern at the FIR registered in Lucknow by the UP Police over the TRP scam. It also said that the intensity with which the case was transferred to CBI appears to be doubtful and said it may lead to a witch-hunt against the media.

“NBA also expresses serious concern at the open-ended FIR registered by the UP police against media for alleged TRP manipulation. The speed with which the case was transferred to CBI overnight raises doubts about the intentions. A complaint filed against unknown persons by an individual who has no locus standi may lead to a witch-hunt against the media, its advertisers and advertising agencies. We sincerely urge the government to immediately withdraw the case referred to CBI.”

“BARC has a mechanism to deal with such cases. An internal competent body headed by (Retd.) Justice Mukul Mudgal is capable and empowered to look into cases related to TRP data tampering. All cases related to TRP manipulation should be transferred to this authority,” NBA summed up its statement.
