Gal Gadot reunites with her Wonder Woman director for Cleopatra biopic

The famous Hollywood star of Israeli origin, Gal Gadot, will team-up again with her Wonder Women director Patty Jenkins to play the upcoming biopic Cleopatra for Paramount Pictures.

The actor has previously worked with Jenkins on both Wonder Women films, she will portray the life and journey of Cleopatra the last ruler of Egypt’s Ptolemaic Kingdom.

Gadot, who is looking forward to the release of her much-anticipated superhero movie Wonder Woman 1984 directed by Jenkins, said Cleopatra was a story she wanted to tell for a very long time.

“I love embarking on new journeys,I love the excitement of new projects, the thrill of bringing new stories to life.Cleopatra is a story I wanted to tell for a very long time. Can’t be more grateful about this A team!! @PattyJenks @ParamountPics #AtlasEntertainment #LaetaKalogridis,”the actor wrote on Twitter.

However, this announcement of Gadot playing Cleopatra has met with mixed reaction and backlash across social media. Disputes over Cleopatra’s heritage and ancestry have surfaced and parallels are being drawn with Gadot’s heritage and ethnicity.

Being Israeli with Greek origins, there are those who argue that Gadot is unfit to be playing the role of the Egyptian queen. The casting choice has been met with both questions of racism and ethnic diversity and appropriation in Hollywood as many believe an Arab or dark-skinned actor would have been a better fit for the role.

Adding to this mess, the casting choice also caused a political debate and dispute as a group of people are angered that an Israeli actress is going to play and Eyptian queen.

Images of the famed queen have been depicted throughout history countless times, however her story is most famously known through dramatic works such as William Shakespeare’s Antony and Cleopatra and the 1963 film Cleopatra starring Elizabeth Taylor.

“What is America’s destiny? What is best for our nation, our people? What is just, true justice? We have to think about all these things, together as a people,” Kanye says.

“To contemplate our future, to live up to our dream, we must have vision. We as a people will revive our nation’s commitment to faith, to what our Constitution calls ‘the free exercise of religion’, including, of course, prayer. Through prayer, faith can be restored. We as a people are called to a greater purpose than ourselves. We are not only a beacon to the world, but we should be servants to each other, to encourage each other, to help each other, to lift up each other-our fellow Americans, that we may all prosper together.”

“We have to act on faith, with the sure knowledge that we are pursuing the right goals and doing the right things.”

“We will build a stronger country, by building stronger families. Families are the building blocks of society, of a nation. By turning to faith, we will be the kind of nation, the kind of people God intends us to be.”

Bigg Boss 14: Sara Gurpal gets evicted, netizens slam seniors

Sara Gurpal became first contestant to be evicted from the Bigg Boss 14 house. She was evicted on Monday, a week after the show premiered.

After the nomination procedure, Bigg Boss had announced that seniors – Gauhar Khan, Hina Khan, Sidharth Shukla — hold the power to zero down to a person who they want to evict. The seniors had opted for three names — Rahul Vaidya, Nishant Malkhani and Sara Gurpal.

After much discussion, the seniors finalised Sara Gurpal’s name for eviction.

While Hina and Gauhar believed Sara has the potential to go ahead in the game, senior Sidharth disagreed. Hina and Gauhar then considered Sidharth’s take on one condition that he would listen to them in such situations in near future.

Gauhar Khan felt bad for Sara and even apologised to her. Meanwhile, Jaan also cried on Sara’s eviction as he was the only one who had nominated her.

Sidharth, on the other hand, was rooting for Rahul Vaidya and Nishant Singh Malkhani. He said that they both have the capabilites to be in the game.

The housemates bid a tearful adieu to Sara, with Jasmin Bhasin and Pavitra Punia crying a river.

Meanwhile, netizens have expressed outrage over Sara Gurpal’s eviction. She was the least nominated contestant for eviction who got evicted due to conflict in opinions of seniors.

Netizens are lashing out at seniors, specially Sidharth, and said he had no right to ruin chances for a contestant.

“We have temporarily paused further dosing in all our Covid-19 vaccine candidate clinical trials, including the Phase 3 ENSEMBLE trial, due to an unexplained illness in a study participant,” the company said in a statement.

Currently, the volunteer’s sickness is being reviewed by an independent data and safety monitoring board.

The pause has stopped online enrollment system for the 60,000 patients clinical trial.

Meanwhile, J & J said that adverse effects are an “expected part of any clinical study, especially large studies.”

The study will be resumed once the company re-evaluates if the serious adverse events were related to the drug in question.

The J&J’s Phase 3 trial had started in September across more than 200 sites around the world. The countries where trials are taking place are — US, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, Peru and South Africa.

The report said that ”out of 40 recommendations made by the FATF, Pakistan has made progress on only two. In view of the sluggish attitude of the Pak government in fulfilling the recommendations, it has been retained in the enhanced follow up list. However, the report also said that Pakistan has made progress in some cases”.

The FATF review meeting is to be held from October 21 to 23. In this meeting, it will be decided whether to put Pakistan in the blacklist or not.
