IPL 2020: Ishant Sharma ruled out of Indian Premier League

Veteran fast bowler Ishant Sharma has been ruled out of the current season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) due to a rib injury. His team Delhi Capitals (DC) gave this information on Monday.

Ishant is the second player from the Capitals to be ruled out of the current season. Earlier, veteran spinner Amit Mishra also dropped out of the tournament due to finger fracture.

This 32-year-old experienced fast bowler played in just one of the Capitals’ seven matches in the current season. He gave away 26 runs in four overs against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Abu Dhabi, but he did not get any wickets.

Delhi Capitals said in a statement, “Fast bowler Ishant Sharma felt pain in the ribs while bowling during the team’s training session on October 7, 2020.”

The franchise said, “After an inspection, we came to know that he had an injury to his left rib. Unfortunately due to this injury, he has been ruled out for the rest of the IPL season.

Mangaluru based boy develops ‘Agribot’ to help farmers at ground level

A 17-year-old boy Sarthak from Mangaluru has developed a prototype robot ‘AgriBot’ which will help farmers in giving the exact information of crop choice they need. It will also help the farmers in analyzing the soil properties.

Basically ‘AgriBot’ is a locomotive which collects soil moisture, temperature and humidity readings from different areas of the required land.

Speaking to a news agency Sarthak S Kumar said, “AgriBot as a whole, is a locomotive which will go around the field, collect respective readings by coming to a stop at predetermined waypoints. The values will be sent to an app interface along its course on the field. The interface later processes these readings referring to a pre-built database and is bound to give suitable information relating to soil properties and further guidance for cultivation of the chosen crop.”

He also said, “This was done out of my interest with the help and assistance of my mentor Akshay Adyanthaya. The prototype of AgriBot was done when I was in first PUC along with two of my friends. This idea was the result of my previous project on agriculture. That is when I learnt that technology which is used in other sectors could be incorporated into agriculture as well. We would get more precise and dependable readings and could also reduce time and work taken to get the same soil tested for its properties in a soil lab. I want to make this solution a viable one because many native agriculturists have an opinion that modern technology is not affordable and dependable but fail to realize it could revolutionize agriculture if implemented and trained to work in the right way.

“My basic idea is an interface that coordinates incorporated technology to provide smart guidance to a farmer for a successful yield. Developing the robot has come out of creativity and it is just a part of the system I am planning about. It will suggest the farmers and help overcome common problems most agriculturists face. I target to make it so dependable and independent that will be in a place to enable those who don’t have any idea about agriculture to carry out cultivation”, said Sarthak.

Currently, Sarthak is pursuing his second PUC at Expert PU College Kodialbail but he is inclined towards Robotics, Algorithms, Artificial Intelligence, and many other technology-related things. He has also been helping students of his age group in several science projects as well.

In another match, Mumbai Indians registers a 5 wicket win against the table-toppers Delhi Capitals. Delhi scored 162 while batting first with help of Shikhar Dhawan’s 69 run knock. In reply, Mumbai batsmen were on top of Shreyas Iyer’s bowlers right from the start of their innings. Quinton de Kock and Suryakumar Yadav scored half-centuries for Mumbai which led them to a register an easy win.

“Overall, they outplayed us in all the departments. We need to work on our mindsets before the next game,” said Shreyas after the match.

“Definitely, I would say 10-15 short, 170-175 on the board would have looked completely different. We really missed out when (Marcus) Stoinis got out, he was hitting the ball really well and also seeing the ball like a football, that was the main error that we did and something that we really need to work on. Apart from that the effort we put on the field, we could definitely work on that as there were a few misfields and dropped catches as well.”

As of now, Mumbai Indians are on top of the points table with 10 points while Delhi Capitals slipped to the second spot.

IPL 2020: SRH captain David Warner points out bowling failure

Rajasthan Royals won their third game of this year’s IPL as they defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad in a nail biter by 5 wickets. Hyderabad batted first and managed to score 158 runs with help of Manish Pandey’s 54 runs and David Warner’s 48 run knock.

Priyam Garg and Kane Williamson also contributed with their quickfire innings. In reply, Rajasthan Royals were first reduced to 78 for 5 but later on, the heroics of Indian domestic stars Riyan Parag and Rahul Tewatia led Rajsthan Royals to a remarkable victory.

Rahul Tewatia and Riyan Parag helped RR snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

“I think that (pitches slowing down) sort of suits our bowling attack… tonight, some of our decisions at the top of the mark just weren’t there and we probably bowled the wrong ball at times,” said Warner after the match.

“There are a lot of positives from this game for us and we will take that on into the next game. As these wickets get tired out, we need to plan how to approach the first six overs and through the middle and then obviously assess our bowling.”

“We have done it in the past where we have held him (Rashid Khan) back and obviously these two guys (Parag and Tewatia) played exceptionally well and obviously there was a dropped chance out there which we try to take every day of the week but that’s what happens in the game of cricket,” said Warner.

Actor turned politician Kushboo quits Congress, joins BJP

Hours after quitting Congress, actor-turned-politician Kushboo Sundar, one of the party’s most prominent defenders, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday in Delhi.

The former Congress spokesperson was with the party since 2014.

Kushboo joined the BJP in the presence of senior leaders at party headquarters in Delhi.

“I will work like any other party workers,” Kushboo said after joining the BJP.

In a letter to party President Sonia Gandhi, Ms Kushboo said, “I came into the fold of INC at the time when it was at its lowest, being defeated in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. I did not walk in the party for any monetary gains, name or fame. Few elements seated at higher levels within the party, people who have no connectivity with the ground reality or public recognition are dictating terms and people like me who wanted to work for the party sincerely, are being pushed and suppressed.” She also extended her thanks to former Congress president Rahul Gandhi.

The party, meanwhile, announced that Sundar was removed from her post of All India Congress Committee spokesperson with “immediate effect” while Tamil Nadu Congress Committee said her decision was no loss to the party.

P Chidambaram’s son Karti Chidambaram reacted to Kushboo Sundar’s resignation and wrote: “A 180-degree turn is a tough manoeuvre to make! Good luck.”

The former Congress leader joining the BJP could turn out to be a big catch for the ruling party in Tamil Nadu ahead of the Assembly elections next year.

SC seeks Centre’s response on pleas challenging farm laws

The Supreme Court has sought Centre’s response on pleas challenging the validity of recently enacted farm laws, which have been facing protests led by the Congress in Punjab.

A bench headed by Chief Justice SA Bobde issued a notice to the Central government seeking its response on the petitions within four weeks.

During the hearing, the bench observed, “We can see Attorney General, Solicitor General Additional Solicitor General in a case where there is no cause of action… This in common parlance is called an overkill.”

The bench, also comprising Justices A S Bopanna and V Ramasubramanian, was hearing pleas filed by RJD lawmaker from Rajya Sabha, Manoj Jha and DMK Rajya Sabha MP from Tamil Nadu, Tiruchi Siva, and one by Rakesh Vaishnav of Chhattisgarh Kisan Congress.

The three laws- Farmers’ (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020; Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020 and The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act 2020 — took effect from September 27 after President Ram Nath Kovid’s assent.

Rhea’s neighbor, who claimed SSR met Rhea on June 13, changes her statement before CBI

The Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) as part of their investigation in the Sushant Singh Rajput’s case quizzed Rhea’s neighbours Dimple Thawani. She had reportedly made claims on various channels that she saw Rhea Chakraborty with Sushant Singh Rajput a day before he died.

In the latest, it has been reported that during her session with CBI, Dimple has backed out. When quizzed by CBI, Dimple denied her claim of watching Rhea with Sushant on June 13. She, instead, said that she overheard someone who saw them together. When asked about who did she overhear, Dimple denied to identify the person, saying he/she is not comfortable in coming forward.

Reportedly, CBI had warned Dimple about not to spread false information related to the case.

Meanwhile, Rhea Chakraborty’s lawyer, Satish Manshinde, in a statement, on Sunday, said that they will take action against everyone who aimed to defame the actress. He further said that people intentionally made false claims for their two minutes of glory. People who wrongly accused Rhea in the Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case will have to face the truth, he added.

Talking about Rhea’s neighbour, Manshinde said, “One such person is Dimple Thawani, who claims she is a SSR fan, and believes she is his soulmate due to a past life connection. She claims that someone told her that SSR dropped Rhea home on June 13.”

Bombay High Court granted conditional bail to Rhea on 7 October. NCB had arrested Rhea under NDPS charges last month.

Meanwhile, CBI and ED are currently going forward with their investigation in the death case of late actor. ED has found no large-scale transfer of funds from the late actor’s account done by Rhea Chakraborty or her kin.

Sushat Singh Rajput was found dead at his Bandra apartment on June 14.

Fight against covid-19 is everyone’s foremost Dharma: Harsh Vardhan

Union Health Minister, Harsh Vardhan, on Sunday warned people to be extra cautious during the upcoming festive season. He urged everyone to stay away from large gatherings and follow covid-19 guidelines issues by the Centre.

He said amid these unprecedented times, fight against covid-19 should be everyone’s foremost Dharma. He also added as the country’s health minister, his “dharma” is to mitigate the virus and save people from this deadly virus.

“The Bhagwad Gita condones war for the warrior class. So, there is no need to congregate in large numbers to prove your faith or your religion,” he said. “Extraordinary circumstances must draw extraordinary responses. No religion or God says that you have to celebrate in an ostentatious way, that you have to visit pandals and temples and mosque to pray,” he added.

The Health Minister was speaking at the fifth episode of his “Sunday Samvaad” which is is virtual interaction with people on the internet.

“These viruses are known to thrive better in the cold weather and low humidity conditions. In view of these, it would not be wrong to assume that the winter season may see increased rates of transmission of the novel coronavirus in the Indian context too,” he noted.

Guidelines for festive season:

Meanwhile, health ministry last week released guidelines for large gatherings ahead of festive season. The ministry said that safety must be assured with adequate area of gathering, social distancing and not allowing touching of idols and holy books.

Festive events can not take place inside containment zone. People residing in containment areas must not move out and observe the festivals with their families, said Health Ministry.

As far as feasible recorded devotional music/songs may be played and choir or singing groups should not be allowed, the SOPs added.

All staff and visitors will have to wear face masks to prevent infection and physical distance of at least six feet must be maintained inside the venue.

“Planning for the event should specifically factor this so that crowds are regulated and managed to ensure physical distance and frequent sanitization,” the SOPs said.

Use given below tips to get your topic trend

Twitter is a widely used social networking site that allows users to post short text “tweets” of up to 140 characters.

Twitter works by allowing you to “follow” other users, who may be friends, celebrities or companies.

In turn, other Twitter users can choose to follow you. When you log on to Twitter, you see a feed, which shows you the tweets of all the users you have chosen to follow.

In Twitter, a word, phrase, or topic that is mentioned at a greater rate than others is said to be a “trending topic” or simply a “trend”.

Trending topics become popular either through a concerted effort by users or because of an event that prompts people to talk about a specific topic. These topics help Twitter and their users to understand what is happening in the world and what people’s opinions are about it.

TIPS TO GET YOUR TOPIC TRENDING:

Use built-in audiences: Built-in audiences can be a conference, webinar, Twitter chat, etc. Existing audiences could also be on another platform; provide them with a clear call-to-action to bring them to Twitter and you’re set!

Use a unique hashtag: Remember, if it’s a new hashtag, it is quicker to trend. This hashtag should be in your call-to-action.

Think about timing: You probably don’t want your hashtag competing with something else big or popular, so investigate at what’s happening and strategize accordingly.

Give directions: The ask should be more thoughtful and strategic than “use this hashtag; we want to trend.” Instead, provide the hashtag, the target, the time period you’d like people to post, and even a couple sample messages to grease the creative engine. And when you do eventually start trending, tell people that, too. This will keep the momentum going!

3 ways to research trending Twitter hashtags

Besides knowing when to use Twitter hashtags, you need to find which hashtags are popular and trending. Here are three ways to find trending Twitter hashtags:

1. Native Twitter trends search

Twitter comes with a native search feature that lets you keep up with the latest trending topics and hashtags. From your Twitter dashboard, click on the #Explore tab. Then select the“trending” tab to get a list of the topics and hashtags currently trending in your region.

2. Sprout Social

To create a more relevant list of trending Twitter hashtags, make the most of Sprout’s social listening tools.

The Twitter Trends Report lets you view topics and hashtags that people use frequently when mentioning your brand. You can even get comprehensive hashtag analytics for each of the hashtags that are mentioned in the Trends Report including frequency by day, or by people and brands mentioning or talking about you.

3. Trendsmap

Trendsmap helps you tackle the limitations of the native Twitter hashtag search function by showing you the latest trending hashtags as well as letting you explore their performance over time. It also gives you a detailed perspective about certain topics, allowing you to see the most popular Tweets and accounts related to them.

Blue Flag certification for 8 Beaches of India

Eight Indian beaches have received the ‘coveted’ Blue Flag certification, announced Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar in a tweet on Sunday.

“Proud moment for India; all 8 beaches recommended by government gets coveted International Blue Flag Certification. An outstanding feat, as no BLUE FLAG nation, has ever been awarded for 8 beaches in a single attempt,” tweeted Javadekar.

The eight Indian beaches which got this tag are Shivrajpur (Dwarka, Gujarat),  Ghoghla (Diu), Kasarkod and Padubidri (Karnataka), Kappad (Kerala), Rushikonda (Andhra Pradesh), Golden Beach (Puri, Odisha) and Radhanagar (Andaman & Nicobar Islands).

The government had on September 18 recommended these eight beaches for the coveted international eco-label.

The basic criteria for getting the certification are safety/security, pollution-free, good bathing water quality and environmental education of beach users.

A Blue Flag beach should have benches for tourists to relax, showers to enable them to take a bath after a dip, a gymnasium and proper solid waste disposal systems among other things.

“Eight of India’s serene beaches get the prestigious Blue Flag Certification. This showcases the importance India attaches to protecting such spots and furthering sustainable development. Truly a wonderful feat!” the prime minister tweeted, tagging a report in this regard.

“With the help of property cards, a lot of disputes in villages can get resolved. No one needs to be worried about issues like encroachment anymore…Experts across the world have stressed that property ownership rights play a big role in a country’s development,” Modi said while launching the scheme via video conference.

Delhi govt waives off road tax on electric vehicles

Under its newly introduced Electeic Vehicle Policy, Delhi government has announced the exemption of tax on battery-operated vehicles in the city. The exemption has begun from October 10, the Delhi government’s transport department said in a notification.

The Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy which was announced last month aims to integrate electric vehicles’ operation across the city. The move will attract people to buy more electric vehicles to contain the pollution level. The policy aims to register 5 lakh vehicles by the end of 2024.

The road tax has always been an issue for vehicle owners. It depends on the cost of the vehicle and the fuel it uses. If vehicles costs up to Rs 6 lakh, a road tax of 4 per cent is levied. On a vehicle costing more than 10 lakh, road tax increases to 12.5 per cent.

Under its EV policy, Delhi government will provide an incentive of up to Rs 30,000 for two-wheelers, autos, e-rickshaws and goods carriers. The amount will increases up to Rs 1.5 lakh for purchase of electric cars, officials said.

The subsidy will be paid to eligible buyers within two days of their purchase.

“The vehicle dealers will access the software and fill the details of the electric vehicle and its buyer at the time of sale. Within 48 hours, subsidy amount will be credited in the bank account of the buyer after verification by concerned motor licencing officers,” the government officer said.

The government is also planning to waive off registration fee under the EV policy. As of now, the policy for exemption of registration fee have been made available for public opinions.

“Another crucial step towards ensuring a pollution-free Delhi. This incentive-based policy will encourage large scale adoption of electric vehicles, and bring us closer to fulfilling our dream of making Delhi the EV capital of India,” CM Arvind Kejriwal tweeted.
