Act of God is taken sarcastically, What is this? says Sitharaman

Nirmala Sitharaman Finance Minister said that the Central government was not reneging from its responsibility on GST compensation and the issue will be discussed in Goods and Services Tax (GST) council meeting.

Replying to the debate on the supplementary demands for grants for 2020-21 in the Lok Sabha, Sitharaman accused the opposition of trying to manpulate her ‘Act of God’ remark.

The finance minister presented the The Supplementary Demands for Grants for 2020-21 and The Demands for Excess Grants for 2016-17 bills which were passed by the Lok Sabha.

She said the Centre has taken many steps to protect the interest of states and India’s forex reserves have surged to a high of USD 537 billion, which is 19-month equivalent of imports.

She said, “Many people spoke on the GST compensation issue and my statement of Act of God was referred several times. I am happy about that. People like using Latin expression like force majeure, for expressing extraordinary situations. But a simple woman finance minister saying the Act of God is taken sarcastically. What is this sir?”

She further added, “I like this condescension.”

“We have informed India that only those lawyers who are licensed to practice in Pakistan are allowed to appear in Pakistani courts. No change can be made in this situation,” he said.

Jharkhand Police & Assistant Police Clash over job crisis

Jharkhand Police & Assistant Police Clash Patience of the assistant police personnel who were agitating for the demand for confirmation at Ranchi’s Morabadi ground broke on Friday. Angry over the barricading being carried out outside the ground, the police and assistant police personnel clashed. During this time many barricades were uprooted.

In 2017, they were appointed on a contractual basis with the assurance that their jobs will be regularised if their performance is found satisfactory. According to them, the said period is over but the government has not taken any step for renewal of their contract

After the protesters became violent, the police released tear gas shells and also lathi-charged. SP Saurabh of Ranchi said that the assistant policemen performing the protest turned violent. They broke barricades and started pelting stones. The police administration was then forced to take action. During this time 10 people and 5-6 protesters of our police department have been injured.

“Assistant police personnel who were agitating here became violent, broke barricading and started stone-pelting. So, we took preventive actions. 12 people from police and 5-6 from their (protesters) side are injured,” Saurabh, Superintendent of Police told ANI.

Seeing the situation uncontrolled, the police lathi charged.

Assistant police personnel were going to the Chief Minister’s residence with their demand. The policemen then lathi-charged as soon as they came out of Morabadi Maidan. It is worth noting that for the past 1 week, the assistant police personnel have been agitating for the demand of confirmation. More than two dozen assistant policemen have been injured in this incident due to stone pelting. The injured are being taken to Rims by ambulance and other police vehicles.

Adhyayan Suman sides with Kangana Ranaut, underscores they have no relationship

Adhyayan Suman and Kangana Ranaut, who were once arch rivals, are now singing same hymns as both continue their fight to seek justice for late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Kangana and Adhyayan were in an alleged relationship and had a severe separation various years before, which took ugly turn when the latter spilled some beans out in the public.

However, at this point, Adhyayan ends up on ‘a similar side’ as Kangana, saying by methods for a mishap, they have been each crusading for equity for Sushant Singh Rajput, and found themselves on the indistinguishable aspect on ‘humanitarian grounds.’

In a meeting, Adhyayan expressed that he has had no relationship with Kangana in the last 12 years. He also expressed that he regards her for the reason she is putting exposure before the public.

Adhyayan, in an interview with India TV, expressed in Hindi, “Over the most recent 12 years, I have not followed Kangana. She is a mainstream and fruitful entertainer. On the off chance that she has chosen to turn out in the open and air her complaints, I am certain there is a purpose behind it. She needn’t bother with any exposure, I am speculating. There must be some resentment or something that she needs to state, which is the reason she is shouting out. That is totally her conclusion and I regard it.”

He included, “Consistently, I state, I don’t have any relationship with Kangana. Be that as it may, life has carried us to a point where we are not against one another yet on a similar side. If my dad raised his voice for equity for Sushant Singh Rajput, so did Kangana. I need to be vocal about her lone with regards to this, that we have a similar voice, on philanthropic grounds.”

Adhyayan expressed that he opened about his relationship with Kangana in 2016 because of a ‘passionate upheaval’. Notwithstanding, he and his family unit have been offended on cross country television. “I was known as a disappointment, baffled, jobless, and blamed for needing to criticize a hotshot,” he expressed.

As of late, Adhyayan’s interview from 2016 wherein he alleged Kangana forced him to take cocaine at her birthday slam in 2008, has gone viral amid the Manikarnika actress’ fued with Shiv Sena. Maharashtra’s Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, on the basis of Adhyahan’s interview, ordered Mumbai Police to conduct a probe into Kangana’s drugs link.

Government will allow private Railways to set their own fares

Government is set to give free will to private railway companies to set the passenger fares, a move intended for luring investors, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led administration opens up the railway network.

“Private players have been given the freedom to fix fares in their own way,” VK Yadav, chairman of Railway Board, said. But, “air-conditioned buses and planes also operate on those routes, and they have to keep that in mind before setting fares.”

In July, the Narendra Modi government had asked RFQs for private players for the operation of passenger train services on 109 Origin-Destination (OD) pairs of routes through the introduction of 151 modern trains. The Railways had chosen about 100 routes to run 150 private passenger trains in December last year.

However, earlier in March, before the lockdown was imposed, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal had said in Rajya Sabha that the union government had no plans to privatise the Railways now or in future as it is the property of the people.

Goyal was responding to the discussion on the working of the Railways Ministry which went for two days. Replying to concerns raised by MPs about the potential sale of the Railways, Goyal had said there was no such proposal. However, there would be public-private partnerships.

Char Dham road project: CM Rawat to urge Centre to widen the road

Uttarakhand Chief Minister, Trivendra Singh Rawat, has expressed concern over Supreme Court’s order which said the Char Dham roads should not be stretched more than 5.5 meters. The CM said that the planned 5.5 meters of road width will not aid in strategic terms. It will not be beneficial for security and connectivity for the sensitive bordering areas of state where movement of forces and supplies should be agile, he added.

During a press conference, the Chief Minister addressed a query about the Char Dham project, “5.5 metre road width se kaam nahi chalega. (5.5 m road width won’t work), he said.
The Chief Minister said that he will request the Central Government to look into this matter, as having a wider road is essential in the strategically important border areas. The all-weather road project aims to connect the four shrines of Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri through an 826km long road.

On September 8, 2020, the Supreme Court had ordered that the ministry of road transport and highways (MoRTH) circular of 2018 is to be followed for Char Dham road construction. The MoRTH circular says that the roads in the hilly and mountain terrains are to be of 5.5 m width (18 ft) with two-lane structures (23 ft).

Chief Minister Rawat will be soon writing to the Centre emphasising the strategic importance and necessity for a wider Char Dham road especially in the wake of recent tensions with neighboring China and Nepal. Also explaining how such roads would be beneficial for the increasing number of pilgrims visiting the state. Darshan Singh Rawat, media coordinator for CM Rawat, said.
The official, how

The CM added that the state government can’t file a special petition in the Supreme Court on the matter since the Central government and the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) are directly dealing with the matter.

Antetokounmpo back to back wins NBA MVP Award

Giannis Antetokounmpo overwhelmingly was voted the NBA’s most valuable player, winning the award for the second year in a row.

Antetokounmpo was previously named the 2019-20 Kia NBA Defensive Player of the Year. He joins Michael Jordan (1987-88) and Hakeem Olajuwon (1993-94) as the only players to be selected as the Kia NBA Most Valuable Player and the Kia NBA Defensive Player of the Year in the same season.

James and Houston’s James Harden were the other MVP finalists this season. Antetokounmpo and James were the only players to be first-team All-NBA selections on all 100 ballots cast by the panel of global sports writers and broadcasters who cover the league.

Bacterial outbreak infects thousands after factory leak in China

Thousands of people in northwest China have been diagnosed with a highly-infectious bacterial disease after an outburst caused by a leak at a pharmaceutical company.

The Health Commission of Lanzhou, the capital city of Gansu province, ratified that 3,245 people had contracted the disease brucellosis, which is often caused by contact with livestock carrying the bacteria Brucella.

Another 1,401 people have tested as preliminarily positive, though there have been no fatalities reported, the city’s Health Commission said. In total, authorities have tested 21,847 people out of the city’s 2.9 million population.

The disease is also known as Malta or Mediterranean fever. However, human-to-human transmission of the virus is very rare, according to the United States’ Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Most people are infected by eating polluted food or breath in the bacteria.

Few symptoms can become chronic or never go away, like arthritis or swelling in certain organs, according to the United States’ Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Brucellosis had been much more general in China in the 1980s, though it has since declined.

In the months after the outbreak, regional and municipal officials launched an investigation into the leak at the factory, according to the Lanzhou Health Commission.

By January, authorities had revoked vaccine production licenses for the plant and withdrew product approval numbers for its two Brucellosis vaccines.

A total of seven veterinary drug product approval numbers were also cancelled in the factory.

In February, the factory issued a public apology and said it had “severely punished” eight people who were determined as responsible for the incident. It added. (ANI)

Former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee believes that Jasprit Bumrah will not let Mumbai Indians miss the Sri Lankan legend Lasith Malinga in the upcoming IPL season starting on Saturday.

Malinga withdrew from the IPL this year citing personal reasons. Lee believes that Bumrah can do wonders with the new and old ball as well and that is why he will not let Malinga fall short.

“I have always been a Bumrah fan ever since he burst into the scenes some years ago. He has got a different bowling action, he pushes the ball in and can swing the ball both ways,” Lee said while speaking on Star Sports show Game Plan.

“He is good with the new ball but I like him with the old ball and that’s why he can fill the shoes of Malinga and can bowl at death overs. He can bowl at 140kmph and zoom the ball in at the batsman’s feet. He is bowling yorkers consistently and there are very less bowlers like that, so he can fill those shoes,” he added.

“I have picked them to win and I think CSK have a good chance because of their spin attack.

“With (Mitchell) Santner, (Ravindra) Jadeja needs to step up and be the number one spinner and CSK have got great variety and none of the spinners are same, so they are at an advantage for the conditions in the UAE as the tournament progresses,” he said.

Mumbai Indians will march in the tournament opener against Chennai Super Kings at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
