Indian Army can deal With Any Situation, morale of the jawans are high: Army Chief General MM Naravane

Army Chief General MM Naravane on Friday said that the situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) is slightly tensed but the army is fully prepared to deal with every situation.

Naravane, who arrived in Ladakh on Thursday said the morale of the jawans are high and they are ready to face any challenge.

Tensions flared up in eastern Ladakh after China unsuccessfully attempted to occupy Indian territory in the southern bank of Pangong lake four days back when the two sides were engaged in diplomatic and military talks to resolve the festering border row.

On the first day of his two-day visit to Ladakh on Thursday, Gen Naravane held a series of meetings with top commanders about the evolving situation in the region as well as on India’s overall combat readiness to deal with any eventualities.

“I visited different places after reaching Leh. I talked to officers, JCOs and took stock of preparedness. The morale of jawans is high and they are ready to deal with all challenges,” Army chief MM Naravane said.

“The current situation along LAC is a bit delicate (naajuk) and serious (gambhir). But we are thinking about it. For our security we had undertaken some precautionary steps and we are assured that situation will remain unchanged. We have taken steps we will help us,” he said.

Lionel Messi: Barcelona continue talks with player’s father for second day

Messi senior arrived in Barcelona on Wednesday morning and reportedly held exploratory talks with club president Josep Maria Bartomeu and the rest of the board.

Messi’s father and agent, Jorge Messi, held discussions with the club Wednesday amid the transfer saga that has taken the soccer world by storm.

Last week, Messi delivered a request to leave the club, with the Argentine intent on exercising his termination clause that would allow him to walk away from Camp Nou with Barca receiving no financial compensation.

Additionally, as per the report, the two clubs Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain which have shown real interest in signing the superstar are also not willing to get entangled in a legal dispute.

There can be a last minute twist to the ongoing transfer saga involving football icon Lionel Messi and his boyhood club FC Barcelona.

Having taken advice from his father Jorge and legal team, Messi is planning to make a U-turn on his decision to quit the Catalan giants having sensationally handed in a transfer request last week.

Messi told the club last week he wanted to leave and the two parties are in dispute over the terms of his contract.

Messi no longer considers himself a Barcelona player and did not attend training for the third consecutive day.

The club had been fining Messi €100,000 (£89,000) daily for his absence and missing a COVID-19 test, but Bartomeu has reportedly softened his stance and said the 33-year-old will not be fined, and is being given a few days off to consider his options.

India and China are members of SCO and Singh and Wei are currently in Moscow to attend a meeting of SCO defence ministers.

The comments by the Ministry of External Affairs(MEA) that blame on China for the prolonged border standoff came even as Chief of Defence Staff(CDS) Gen. Bipin Rawat asserted that India’s armed forces are capable of handling aggressive Chinese actions in “best suitable ways”.

Foreign Minister S Jaishankar said on Thursday he was “totally convinced” that a solution to the India-China border row had to be found in the domain of diplomacy.

“I am also conscious that you have the situation that we have in border areas of the western sector (across Ladakh). Because we have the long (term) view, our position there has been very clear–we have agreements and understandings with China. The agreements and understandings must be scrupulously observed by both parties,” Mr Jaishankar said at an online event for the launch of his book.

“The reality is what happens at the border will impact the relationship, you cannot separate it. I made this point a few days earlier in another context, I would say that I am totally convinced that the solution to the situation has to be found in the domain of diplomacy. And I say that with responsibility,” he said, according to Press Trust of India.

India is well-prepared to face a coordinated threat from Pakistan and China as Beijing continues to lend support to Islamabad in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) on the economic, military and diplomatic front, Indian Chief of Defence Staff Gen Bipin Rawat said on Thursday.

He said the armed forces have planned for the two-front threat. “We have devised strategies to deal with the primary front,” he said, and that the other front will be “secondary”.

We want peace and tranquillity across our borders. Off late, we have been seeing some aggressive actions by China but we are capable of handling these. Our tri-services are capable of dealing with threats along our frontiers, he added.
