LNG Shortage: Qatar’s Ras Laffan Industrial City, the world’s largest LNG export hub, came under intense attack by Iran’s ballistic missiles, threatening the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) across the world. India, one of the biggest importers of LNG from Qatar, may feel the biggest pinch of the attacks with the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) likely to get hit.

Multiple sectors and industries of the country stare massive losses or eroding profits due to the severe energy crisis caused as Qatar’s LNG exports grind to a halt.

LNG Shortage-Iran’s Strike On Ras Laffan

The Islamic Republic of Iran made retaliatory attacks on oil and gas facilities in the Middle East to mark an unprecedented transition to an economic war from military confrontations. After strikes by Israel on Iran’s South Pars gas field, the Islamic Republic responded with “an eye for an eye” attack by striking Qatar’s Ras Laffan Industrial City.

40 Percent Of India’s Gas From Qatar

India relies heavily on Qatar for approximately 40 percent of its LNG imports every year, making the shutdown of Qatar’s LNG facilities a direct and severe blow to India’s energy security. Cargo suspensions are on the cards and supplies are likely to be cut by 30-40 percent for industries and gas firms of the country.

Inflated Import Bills

A prolonged Qatar outage could easily inflate the annual import bills of India by many billions, straining the already-pressurized trade deficit by high oil costs.

Urea Shortages, Higher Food Prices

Fertilizer producers in the country utilizing natural gas for urea production would face feedstock shortages, risking supply crunches and output halts. Since India imports approximately over 50 percent of its urea requirements, gas cuts could trigger massive shortages, inflating food prices as farmers would be pushed to costlier alternatives. With monsoon planting season ahead, this could also threaten kharif crop yields and overall food inflation.

Higher Electricity Costs For Consumers

Power Plants utilizing regasified LNG would make a switch to costlier liquid fuels such as diesel, passing on hikes via tariffs to consumers. Peak summer demand could easily translate to grid blackouts, resulting in shortage of electricity output in the country. This would severely impact MSMEs and households due to high energy costs.

Strained Forex Reserves, CPI Surge

India’s already stretched forex reserves could face further depletion from panic buying of spot LNG at exorbitant prices. A spike in consumer price index (CPI) could be on the cards as energy pass-through would ripple into food, transport and utilities that would push inflation by 2-3 percent.

If LNG supplies stay offline into April or May, the GDP growth of India could risk a loss of 0.5 to 1 percent for FY26. Over time, corporate earnings should shrink further. Gas-dependent industries such as steel, refineries and chemicals could face massive curtailments, eroding profit margins as they import pricier alternatives or slowed operations.

Dhurandhar 2 Review: Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, directed by Aditya Dhar and starring Ranveer Singh, has finally hit theatres. The film has received largely positive reactions, with viewers praising its intense action, strong performances and patriotic espionage story. While the runtime of nearly four hours raised some eyebrows, many audiences said it kept them hooked throughout.

Viewers Share Their Dhurandhar 2 Review

Preview shows on March 18 brought a wave of reactions on Twitter (X). Early viewers on Day 1were also impressed with both the story and the acting. One viewer tweeted at the interval, “Already feels like this could be the greatest Indian film ever. The filmmaking is really good, and the music carries the film well. Everything feels very real and intense. The interval twist was really good and sets up the second half perfectly. Only issue so far is the length, but the positives easily cover it.”

Another fan gave it 9.8 out of 10 in his Dhurandhar 2 review and wrote, “Starts a bit slow, more violence and a little more politics. Flawlessly directed and intensely performed, this is essential cinema. A solid revenge, indeed!”

A viewer also praised Ranveer Singh’s performance: “Ranveer Singh ne apne role mein emotional turmoil aur ruthless efficiency dono ko perfectly carry kiya hai, aur jab script thodi weak padti hai tab bhi woh film ko strong banaye rakhte hain.”

At 3 hours and 55 minutes, Dhurandhar 2 is one of the longest Indian films recently. Some viewers felt the length was excessive: “The film could have been much shorter. It just refuses to end, and had too many slow-motion shots.”

Others said the runtime did not affect the experience. “Even though the film runs close to 4 hours, it never feels boring. The story keeps you engaged all the time. Screenplay outstanding, direction mind-blowing,” a fan commented.

Ranveer Singh dominates the screen, but Aditya Dhar’s direction also impressed audiences. One wrote, “#DhurandharTheRevenge GET READY TO BE BLOWN AWAY. The sequel picks up immediately after the first film. Jaskirat Singh Rangi (Ranveer Singh) continues his undercover mission in Pakistan as Hamza Ali Mazari. Meanwhile, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) would look into allegations that Kent accessed unauthorized, confidential information.

In the interview, Kent remarked that he met Kirk, Turning Point USA founder, and who told him to stop USA from getting into a war with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Kent went on to remark that Kirk was then suddenly assassinated publicly and no one was permitted to raise questions about the daylight murder. Kent also commented that the National Counterterrorism Centre was stopped from continuing to investigate the Charlie Kirk murder. Kent also claimed that Kirk was under intense pressure from pro-Israel donors.

United States President Donald Trump reposted a post on X by Joe Kent where he urged Trump not to wait before the next attack is made on the United States. In the post, Kent had said that it’s time to wipe out the ballistic capabilities of Iran.

FBI Investigation

The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation has opened an investigation into Kent for possibly leaking sensitive intelligence.

According to media reports, the investigation predated the resignation meaning that Kent deliberately resigned knowing that he was about to be investigated.

The FBI and many other federal agencies have frequently targeted the political enemies and critics of Donald Trump for criminal investigations, usually without sufficient evidence to procure or sustain a criminal indictment. This was after Kent resigned and claimed that the Islamic Republic of Iran posed no imminent threat to the United States of America.

On March 20, the Rajasthan Board Class 10th Result 2026 is expected to be released. This will make more than 10 lakh students happy. Officials have hinted at a release date that is very close to the end of the evaluation process. Students should have their roll numbers ready and check the official websites for results when they are available.

Officials from the Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan, say that the Class 10th Result 2026 will be announced on March 20. Secretary Gajendra Singh Rathore made the announcement at a recent press conference, confirming that the evaluation process is over.

If the timeline holds, students should be able to see the results tomorrow, ending weeks of waiting.

More than 10 lakh students are waiting for their results

The RBSE Class 10 exams took place from February 12 to February 28, 2026. Over 10 lakh students took the tests all over the state.

The official result links are not yet active, which is in line with the schedule for their release. Students will be able to see their scorecards online after they are announced.

How and Where to Check the 2026 RBSE 10th Result

To check their results, students can do these easy things:

  • Go to rajeduboard.rajasthan.gov.in or rajresults.nic.in to see the official sites.
  • Click on “RBSE 10th Result 2026” or “Secondary Exam Result 2026” to see the results.
  • Type in your roll number and click “Submit.” You can then view and download your scorecard for later use.

The online marksheet will show your roll number, grades by subject, total percentage, and division, among other things.

Keep your roll number close by

To avoid confusion at the last minute, students should have their roll numbers ready. There will be a lot of traffic on websites because the results will be posted online.

The RBSE Class 10 result is a big deal in school, and since the date is almost set, the wait is only a few hours away.

US Israel Iran War: The prices of Brent Crude went past $112 a barrel, pushing world markets into turmoil. This was after Qatar’s Ras Laffan industrial city was severely attacked by Iran’s ballistic missiles in response to an attack on the South Pars gas field.

Extensive Damage At World’s Largest LNG Plant In Qatar, India’s Source Of 47 Percent LNG

Iran’s South Pars gas field in the Persian Gulf was attacked by Israel and the United States, according to Iranian officials.

The Islamic Republic of Iran responded with massive strikes on Arab states and Israel, upending energy and financial markets. United States President Donald Trump denied that USA wasn’t aware of Israel’s strikes on the South Pars gas field.

In retaliation, Iran targeted a vital gas plant in Ras Laffan Industrial City of Qatar, one of the world’s largest LNG (liquefied natural gas) suppliers. This could be devastating for India as it imports nearly 47 percent of its gas requirements from Qatar.

Approximately 12-13 million tonnes of LNG of India’s annual imports of 27 million tonnes of LNG requirements come only from Qatar. Approximately 24 percent comes from UAE and nearly 11 percent comes from USA.

Claire Jungman, Director of Maritime Risk & Intelligence at energy market analytics firm Vortexa, remarked that the disruptions could be immense and immediate as there is no spare capacity in the liquefied natural gas market. LNG shipments from UAE and Qatar are now off the market (20 percent of global LNG supply). This resulted in a massive surge in Europe’s TTF benchmark gas prices and Asia’s spot LNG prices.

Florence Yu, Associate LNG Market Analyst at Vortexa, commented that India, China and Taiwan would be among those worst hit. According to Wood Mackenzie estimates, approximately 2.2 billion cubic meters or of LNG exports are likely to be at risk every week shipments are halted at the Strait of Hormuz.

US Israel Iran War–Helium Prices Soar

Disruptions to natural gas processing from Qatar due to the Middle East crisis have driven the prices of Helium extremely higher. Since the crisis began, Helium spot prices have doubled.

Last week, QatarEnergy, the world’s second-largest LNG exporter, announced a production halt at its 77 ‌million tons per annum (mtpa) facility.

Any disruption to the output of LNG directly cuts the supply of helium as it is extracted as a natural gas processing by-product.According to market experts, a 30-day disruption to the Strait of Hormuz could raise helium prices by as much as 10-20 percent while a 60-90 day outage could drive prices higher by 25-50 percent.

As the 8th Central Pay Commission (CPC) begins its work, discussions around the fitment factor have intensified, with employee unions and pensioners’ groups putting forward their recommendations. While the final decision will only be known after the Commission submits its report to the government, early proposals indicate a possible shift in how salaries and pensions may be revised.

The fitment factor is a crucial component used to revise basic pay and pensions. It determines how much the existing basic salary or pension will be multiplied to arrive at the new structure.

Different groups have suggested varying figures. The Federation of National Postal Organisations (FNPO) has proposed a fitment factor of 3, aiming for a significant increase in pay. However, earlier estimates from 2025 had suggested a more moderate range between 1.82 and 2.46.

Final Decision Awaited

Despite these proposals, the final fitment factor will depend on the recommendations made by the 8th CPC and subsequent approval by the central government. Until then, discussions remain speculative but significant for over one crore central government employees and pensioners.

Pensioners Propose Hybrid Calculation Model

In a detailed submission dated March 14, 2026, the Railway Senior Citizens Welfare Society (RSCWS) has recommended a hybrid approach for calculating the fitment factor.

The body emphasized that the formula should focus on restoring the real income lost due to inflation and structural economic changes. It suggested that pensioners should receive a uniform and adequate fitment factor to ensure a meaningful increase in their basic pension.

The proposed hybrid model combines elements of Dr. Wallace Aykroyd’s formula, which was used in the 7th CPC, with the constant relative income approach adopted by the 5th CPC.

Broader Expense Consideration Suggested

The pensioners’ body has urged the Commission to widen the scope of expenses considered while calculating the fitment factor. It highlighted that modern-day living costs have evolved and must be reflected in the formula.

Among the key expenses suggested for inclusion are:

  • Regular consumable items
  • Internet and digital connectivity charges
  • Health insurance premiums

The society also recommended that a standard family unit of four should be used as the basis for calculation, aligning with current socio-economic realities.

Response to CPC Questionnaire

The suggestions were submitted in response to one of the 18 questions raised by the 8th CPC, which specifically asked stakeholders to define what the fitment factor should represent.

The Commission noted that government pay structures already include multiple components such as annual increments, dearness allowance linked to inflation, and pay scales based on seniority and merit. The challenge now is to create a formula that balances fairness, fiscal responsibility, and current economic conditions.

Positioning women at the centre of Punjab’s growth story, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday laid out an expansive vision for their role in governance, economy and society, asserting that real empowerment lies in education, representation and economic opportunity. Speaking at a felicitation event awarding grassroot entrepreneurs in Mohali, he gave a detailed account of the AAP government’s initiatives, from job reservations and direct financial support to large-scale livelihood programmes, while urging women to step into decision-making roles and reshape the state’s future.

Addressing the gathering after felicitating women entrepreneurs, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stated, “It is imperative that girls come forward and empower themselves through education. It is in the larger interest of the nation, as women who manage homes and families efficiently should also run the country. The state government is committed to this noble cause and is leaving no stone unturned for it.”

Encouraging greater political participation, he said, “Girls must come forward and participate in politics to become active partners in decision-making and bring necessary change in society. Today, girls have outnumbered boys in almost every field, but politics is still an exception. This field has long been considered a fiefdom of men, but the time has come for women to excel here as well. Women’s participation is essential to build an egalitarian society and strengthen democracy at the grassroots level. Women must ensure that they and their families exercise their vote carefully so that the right leaders are elected to the Assembly and Parliament.”

Highlighting the broader vision for the state, the Punjab CM continued, “This will help make Punjab a progressive and prosperous state. It is a matter of pride that girls are excelling in all fields today, and the state government has made consistent and focused efforts to empower women. AAP government has appointed several women as Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police, which is a major shift from earlier times. This is the highest number of women posted in these positions by any government.”

Drawing a global comparison while motivating women, he observed, “In China, every woman is engaged in producing something. If they stop exporting, it would disrupt the global economy. Punjabi women must take inspiration from Mata Gujri ji, Mai Bhago, and other legendary figures and excel in diverse fields. Our government has revamped the education sector to provide quality education, especially to girls. Education is the key to transforming the lives of weaker sections, but previous governments kept them away from it.”

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann asserted that no free ‘revdis’ or concession cards can eliminate poverty or social evils. Education is the only way to break this cycle and improve living standards, and that is why our government is working tirelessly to strengthen it. Women must work hard and excel in every field with dedication. The government is providing full logistical support, but it is equally important to keep learning and upgrading skills to stay relevant in changing times.

“Today is a historic day for the women of Punjab who have created their identity through hard work and dedication. Women entrepreneurs must always be given opportunities, and we are proud to honour them. The development of any society is incomplete without the contribution of women,” he added.

Referring to cultural and philosophical roots, the Punjab CM highlighted that in Sikh philosophy, women have always held a place of honour. Today, 100 top-performing women entrepreneurs from 23 districts are being honoured under the Punjab State Rural Livelihood Mission (PSRLM). Each will receive ₹25,000, a certificate, and a memento. Earlier, 11,700 women were honoured across 117 Assembly constituencies. “At the district level, 2,300 women were honoured across 23 districts. A total of 58,303 Self Help Groups have been formed, connecting around 5.89 lakh rural families, with ₹147 crore provided as financial assistance to strengthen them,’ he elaborated.

Highlighting entrepreneurship initiatives, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann shared, “Under the Pehal Startup Project, more than 2,000 startups have been launched, creating employment for 7,560 people, which is a major step towards economic empowerment. Sakhi Shakti Melas have been organised in 19 districts, generating earnings of over Rs 1 crore for women. Dairy cooperative societies are also being set up with support from Verka, connecting 7,000 women and aiming to supply 85,000 litres of milk daily. The target is to establish 1,000 such societies across Punjab.”

He continued, “Under the Maavan Dhian Satkar Yojana, women will receive ₹1,000 per month and ₹1,500 for Scheduled Caste women. Funds will be directly transferred to bank accounts, and 97% of women in Punjab are expected to benefit. The government has allocated ₹9,300 crore, and registration will begin from April 13. Under the ‘Meri Rasoi’ scheme, 40 lakh families will receive ration kits including 2 kg sugar, 2 kg pulses, 1 litre mustard oil, 200 grams turmeric, and 1 kg salt. ₹900 crore has been allocated for this scheme, which will strengthen women’s empowerment and social security.”

Listing structural measures for empowerment, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann noted, “We have provided 33% reservation for women in government jobs, and a significant number of the more than 65,000 jobs have gone to women, ensuring their increased participation in governance and administration. Aam Aadmi Clinics, cashless treatment up to ₹10 lakh under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, and free electricity to 90% of households are all aimed at women’s welfare. Punjab also provides 50% reservation for women in local bodies and Panchayati Raj institutions. Around 1.86 lakh girls are receiving nutritious food through 27,314 Anganwadi centres, and recruitment for thousands of workers is ongoing.”

“Free travel for women, especially school and college-going girls, is proving to be a major support. Women must become self-reliant, and the government is opening new avenues of employment for them. Girls are no longer weaker sections of society; they are strong in every way and must be confident about this,” concluded the Punjab CM.

Meanwhile, AAP Punjab Prabhari Manish Sisodia stated, “Earlier, such functions were limited to women achievers from affluent families. For the first time, women from common families are being honoured. This movement will go a long way in transforming the lives of women through empowerment and inspiring others to excel as nation builders.”
