UGC New Rules Row: Students Blast New Regulations, Stalin And Opposition Join Hands To Extend Solidarity, What Next?

UGC New Rules Row

UGC New Rules Row: The Promotion of Equity in Higher Education Institutions Regulations, 2026 introduced by the University Grants Commission (UGC) have brought students from all parts of the India to the streets. Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan and Delhi students blasted the recently introduced UGC regulations that deliberately leave out ‘general category students’ from students who can file complaints against discrimination.

The UGC regulations were initially aimed at making all UGC campuses (colleges and universities) in the country more inclusive for marginalized students, like those from Economically Weaker Sections, Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes and Other Backward Classes. However, the regulations seem to have ruffled a few feathers down the line.

Stalin Extends Solidarity

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin like many opposition parties such as Congress and Samajwadi Party has come in open support for the new UGC regulations. Stalin remarked that the revisions in UGC rules were long awaited. The Tamil Nadu CM commented that there has been a surge in incidents of harassment and attacks on students from Southern India, minority communities and Kashmir.

Reaction of UP BJP Leaders

Many BJP leaders in the state of Uttar Pradesh have openly criticized the UGC regulations saying they are highly discriminative in nature. Many leaders claimed that there are no provisions of penalty against false complaints or interim protections until the case is finally decided. If this is not all, there is no mention of Muslim minorities and the new Equity Committee, along with Equity Squads and Equity Ambassadors don’t have any representation whatsoever from the ‘general’ category.

The list of challenges with the UGC regulation doesn’t end here. The process’s speedy nature demands that all complaints must be handled by the committee within 24 hours and reports need to be submitted within 15 days. Given the heavy administrative and teaching load on teachers and professors, the committee members would not be able to provide the due time and diligence required to handle delicate issues in the required timeframe.

Border 2 Box Office Collection Day 6: Sunny Deol Starrer Crosses Rs 200 Cr Amid Another Drop, Pace Weaker Than Dhurandhar – Was It All Due To Nostalgia?

Border 2 Box Office Collection Day 6: Border 2 continues to draw audiences, but its box office momentum is slowing down. On Day 6, the Sunny Deol starrer crossed Rs 200 crore in domestic collections despite another drop in daily earnings.

Early trends suggest that the film’s strong opening may have been driven more by nostalgia than sustained audience interest. Comparisons with Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar show that the latter is maintaining a stronger box office pace.

Border 2 Box Office Collection Day 5

According to Sacnilk, Border 2 earned Rs 13 crore on Wednesday, taking its total domestic net to Rs 213 crore. Worldwide gross is estimated at close to Rs 300 crore. The film opened strongly, with Day 1 collecting Rs 30 crore, Day 2 at Rs 36.5 crore and Day 3 (Sunday) peaking at Rs 54.5 crore. Monday’s collection remained healthy at Rs 59 crore, giving the film a solid start.

Tuesday (Day 5) saw a steep fall of 66.10 per cent, with earnings dropping to Rs 20 crore. It followed by Rs 13 crore on Wednesday (Day 6). Meanwhile, Dhurandhar earned about Rs 27 crore on Day 6, highlighting the gap in box office momentum. Analysts say that if Border 2 does not recover during the coming weekdays, it could soon lag behind Dhurandhar even in total collections.

The film currently has over 6200 shows across India, including more than 1,500 shows in Delhi-NCR. Experts warn that if the momentum does not pick up, the film may start losing screens in its second week.

About The Sequel

Border 2 is a multi-front war drama set during the 1971 Indo-Pak War, focusing on the Battle of Basantar. Unlike its predecessor, which focused mainly on the Army, this sequel shows combined operations of the Army, Air Force and Navy, highlighting stories of bravery and human emotion. Sunny Deol leads as Lt Col Fateh Singh Kaler, supported by Varun Dhawan (Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya), Diljit Dosanjh (Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon) and Ahan Shetty (Lt Cdr MS Rawat). The supporting cast includes Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Anya Singh, and Medha Rana.

Directed by Anurag Singh and produced by T-Series and JP Films, the film has a runtime of 199 minutes (3 hours 19 minutes). It was made on an estimated budget of Rs 150–250 crore, with non-theatrical rights fetching nearly Rs 495 crore. Netflix has acquired the digital streaming rights for Rs 225 crore, with the OTT release expected about eight weeks after theatrical debut, likely in late March 2026.

The soundtrack has also drawn attention, reviving the classic “Sandese Aate Hain” and adding new songs like “Ghar Kab Aaoge”. Released on 23 January 2026 (around Republic Day weekend), the film capitalised on holiday audiences, crossing Rs 200 crore domestically in its first week, although weekday collections suggest that its nostalgia-driven appeal may have limits.

Ajit Pawar: Sunetra Pawar, Parth Pawar Or A “Conditional” Merger With…., Who Would Become The Face in Maharashtra?

Ajit Pawar

Ajit Pawar: The sudden death of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Supremo Ajit Pawar on 27 January 2026 in a plane crash has thrown the politics of Maharashtra into complete chaos. To sum up, the untimely demise of Pawar has left the NCP rudderless and raised many urgent questions: Who will now lead the party – his wife Sunetra Pawar, his son Parth Pawar, or will the NCP merge back with Sharad Pawar’s faction?

The Sudden Demise Of Ajit Pawar

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar died in a tragic air crash on 27 January 2026 early morning. Many believe that Ajit’s NCP was inching towards a formal merger with Sharad Pawar’s NCP–SP. The death of Ajit has now left a leadership vacuum at the heart of Maharashtra’s second-largest party in the Mahayuti.

Without the political heft of Ajit, the presence of NCP in the state government is in serious doubt. Allies would now closely watch who will step into the top post.

Sunetra Pawar: The Immediate Heir?

Senior party leaders of NCP are already looking at Sunetra Pawar, Ajit’s wife and Rajya Sabha MP, as the most natural successor to hold the party together. Sunetra has her own political base and a sympathy wave driving her ambition to party supremacy. In political circles, Sunetra is seen as someone who can manage both the party workers and the government’s demands.

The elevation of Sunetra Pawar could help NCP maintain its OBC-Muslim base. It would also help ensure that the party’s leadership does not get handed over to an outsider.

Parth Pawar: The Next-Gen Contender

Ajit Pawar’s elder son, Parth Pawar, who had unsuccessfully contested the 2019 Lok Sabha election, is now emerging as a prime contender for the political legacy.

If the NCP refuses to merge with Sharad Pawar’s faction, Parth is likely to be groomed as the long‑term leader, with Sunetra playing the role of a guiding elder. However, his entry will also intensify the internal rivalry between the old guard and the younger generation, especially in the crucial Pune-Solapur belt.

Will The NCP Merge With Sharad Pawar’s Faction?

A merger between NCP and NCP-SP would certainly mean that the NCP would make a return to the Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) camp, upsetting the current Mahayuti balance. For Sharad Pawar and Supriya Sule, this could be a golden chance to rebuild the NCP’s pan‑Maharashtra dominance and reclaim the legitimacy of the “original” party.

Arijit Singh QUITS Playback Singing: Redditors BLAME Bhushan Kumar And T-Series, Dig Up Singer’s Old Statement – ‘You Are Killing an Artist…’

Arijit Singh Quits Playback Singing: Arijit Singh’s decision to quit playback singing has shocked fans and the Hindi film industry alike. The double National Award-winning singer, whose voice shaped modern Bollywood music, recently announced that he is stepping away from film songs.

Instead, Arijit Singh wants to focus on independent music and his directorial debut. What started as a personal creative decision has now turned into a larger industry conversation. Social media users (especially on Reddit) have begun blaming Bhushan Kumar and T-Series, raising old concerns about how singers are treated in Bollywood.

Why Arijit Singh Quit Playback Singing

Arijit Singh said creative boredom pushed him to take this step. He explained that commercial film music often feels restrictive and leaves little space for artistic freedom. He also said he wanted to step aside and allow new talent to grow instead of holding on to the same space.

Initially, many fans supported his choice. However, soon after the news broke, a user dug out old statements made by Arijit Singh and other singers. These statements highlighted long-standing problems in the music industry, including delayed payments, lack of transparency and limited creative control.

A Reddit user shared a detailed post featuring comments from singers such as Armaan Malik, Neha Kakkar, Kanika Kapoor, Alka Yagnik and Sonu Nigam. According to the post, payment has been a major issue in Bollywood, with claims that singers are often underpaid or not paid at all.

Old Statement Of Arijit Singh Goes Viral After His Exit From Playback Singing

The post also reminded users that Arijit Singh had supported Armaan Malik in 2023, the same year Malik moved away from playback singing. At the time, Arijit had said, “Ya toh kaam karwao paisa do ya toh kaam mat karwao (pay them for their work or else don’t assign them work).”

Arijit Singh had further explained how the system works. He said, “Usko phir bola jaata hai ki tumko itna paisa milega aur tum yeh kaam karo. Woh bhi negotiate karke hota hai, usmein woh maan jaata hai. Maan k jab kaam karta hai toh bhool jaata hai ki usko kitna kaam karna hai uss paese k liye…Phir jo payment aata hai woh usse kam aata hai. So, you’re killing an artist.”

He also spoke about the need for a fair and structured system for musicians and singers. Arijit said, “Ek system hona chahiye, musicians our singers k live, jase pehle hota tha. Jo session recordings hota hai, aap scratch gao, final mein rahe ya na rahe, you get your payment…yeh bohut hi decent a system hai, ki sablog apna kaam karenge aur payment like chase jayenge.”

The Reddit discussion drew strong reactions. One user wrote, “T series is a HORRIBLE company that takes advantage of and overworks singers with very little compensation. they’re ALWAYS being called out, yet nothing has been done.”

Another user commented, “Independent artists are doing well as GenZ is shifting away from Bollywood music and is more into independent artists. Arijit has made enough money, and he has stepped back at the right time.”

However, some felt the system would not change easily. A user said, “Agar Arijit, Sonu nhi toh koi aur gaana gaa dega unke liye. There are enough talented singers waiting for right opportunity.”

Meanwhile, rumours also claimed that Arijit Singh was forced to sing a patriotic song linked to Border 2, starring Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan. Netizens pointed to his reprised version of “Sandese Aate Hain” as proof.

Denying these claims, Bhushan Kumar told HT City, “Please call and ask Arijit, it’s all rubbish.”

Birthplace of Lala Lajpat Rai at Dhudike to be developed as a model village: CM Bhagwant Singh Mann

CM Mann

Setting a clear break from years of symbolic gestures around Punjab’s icons, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday announced that Lala Lajpat Rai’s birthplace in Dhudike will be transformed into a full-fledged model village, with time-bound delivery of sewerage, ponds, playgrounds and all basic infrastructure. Speaking at the 71st Lala Lajpat Rai Janam Diwas Khed Mela, the Chief Minister said earlier governments confined themselves to drawing up plans, while his government would ensure visible work on the ground within a year.

Underlining his point, Bhagwant Singh Mann pledged to return on Lala Ji’s next birth anniversary with the projects completed and, in a gesture that underscored his connection with the people, keeping aside all security protocols, the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday joined the villagers here during Rural sports fest to enjoy the Kabaddi and Hockey tournament organised in the memory of Punjab Kesri Lala Lajpat Rai.

Addressing the gathering, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “I am a common man and joining my brothers and elders in watching this rural sports fest, which is our soul, gives me immense satisfaction,” while taking selfies with the youth and seeking blessings from elders.

As he joined the spectators in the stands to watch an exhilarating kabaddi match, the Chief Minister broke the security protocol to personally shake hands with the players reflecting deep connection with the people, a gesture that drew loud cheers from the crowd.

He said that “the event is part of a vibrant tournament organised to commemorate the birth anniversary of Punjab’s iconic freedom fighter, Lala Lajpat Rai,” adding that “the legacy of the great nationalist, who played a pivotal role in the Indian freedom struggle, continues to inspire the youth.”

Addressing the enthusiastic gathering amid traditional folk music and celebrations, the Chief Minister said that “there is an urgent need to revive Punjab’s indigenous sports.” He said that “traditional games like kabaddi, bullock cart racing and others are not just sports but an integral part of our rich culture and heritage.” Bhagwant Singh Mann said that “these games embody the spirit, strength and unity of Punjabis and have been passed down through generations.”

Reaffirming the state government’s commitment to promoting sports, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said that “the state government will leave no stone unturned to restore Punjab’s pristine glory in the sports arena.” He categorically said that “the state government will ensure that these traditional games flourish once again, providing platforms for our rural youth to shine.” Making an appeal to the people, Bhagwant Singh Mann invited them to participate in the prestigious Mini Olympics at Kila Raipur, saying that “the event will commence on January 31.”

The Chief Minister said that “the revival of bullock cart races after a 16-year hiatus will be a key attraction,” adding that “this is our golden chance to relive our traditions and celebrate Punjab’s sporting legacy together.” Striking an emotional chord, he announced that “all demands raised by the Panchayat of village Dhudike are being fulfilled immediately,” including “laying of a new sewerage line, rejuvenation of the village pond, development of a modern playground and other essential infrastructure projects to enhance living standards.”

Later, while interacting with media persons, the Chief Minister said that “‘Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna’ is being implemented across Punjab as the state’s largest health reform programme.” He said that “every family will now receive up to ₹10 lakh in cashless treatment,” adding that “earlier a family could avail treatment up to ₹5 lakh, which has now been increased to ₹10 lakh.” Bhagwant Singh Mann said that “around 65 lakh families will be benefitted from this ambitious scheme aimed at the welfare of every section of society.”

The Chief Minister said that “it is unfortunate that even after more than 70 years of Independence, Punjab has been deprived of its capital and the High Court.” However, he said that “the state government will make strenuous efforts to get back Chandigarh, the capital city of Punjab,” and added that “the government will leave no stone unturned for this noble cause of Punjab and Punjabis.”

Expressing deep shock and anguish over the death of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in a plane mishap, the Chief Minister said that “I share my heartfelt sympathies with the members of the bereaved family.” He said that “I pray to the Almighty to give them courage to bear this irreparable loss in this hour of crisis and to grant peace to the departed soul.”

The Chief Minister was accompanied by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, MLAs Manjit Singh Bilaspur, Devinder Singh Laddi Dhos, Amritpal Singh Sukhanand, Amandeep Kaur and others.

Weight Loss Mystery Solved: Why Eating Less Is Making You Fatter? Harvard-Trained Doctor EXPOSES Metabolism Trap Nobody Talks About

Weight Loss Mystery - Why Getting Fatter Despite Eating Less

Weight Loss: Have you ever noticed that some people eat very little but still gain weight, while others eat freely and stay lean? Dr Saurabh Sethi (a gastroenterologist trained at AIIMS, Stanford and Harvard) recently explained why this happens. According to him, it’s not about willpower or portion control, but your metabolism.

In a recent Instagram post, Dr Sethi shared insights that can change how you approach dieting. He shared that understanding your body’s engine is the first step to achieving lasting weight control.

Why Eating Less Doesn’t Always Work For Weight Loss

Dr Sethi explained that everyone’s metabolism works differently. He said, “Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is the energy your body burns just staying alive – breathing, thinking, digesting and pumping blood. Some people are born with a faster BMR due to genetics, thyroid function, hormones or higher muscle mass.”

This means that even if you eat very little, a slower metabolism can make it harder to lose weight. People with a higher BMR naturally burn more calories (even at rest), allowing them to eat more without gaining fat. Those with slower metabolisms burn fewer calories, making weight loss more difficult.

Dr Sethi also pointed out that less muscle EQUALS fewer calories burned. Crash diets, long-term calorie restriction, or natural muscle loss with age can lower the body’s calorie-burning ability. Muscles burn three to five times more calories than fat, even when resting, making them crucial for weight control.

How Muscles, Hormones And Lifestyle Impact

Muscle mass isn’t the only factor. Hormonal imbalances like insulin resistance make it easier to store fat and harder to burn it. This is common in conditions like fatty liver, PCOS, prediabetes and diabetes. Other causes of weight gain include hidden stress, high cortisol, poor sleep and post-diet metabolic adaptation.

Dr Sethi noted that people who eat freely but stay lean usually have:

  • A higher metabolic rate
  • Better insulin sensitivity
  • More daily movement
  • Greater muscle mass

Even small daily movements add up, helping the body burn calories consistently. The key isn’t eating less – it’s optimising your metabolism through muscle building, stable hormones, regular activity and good sleep.

By strengthening muscles, supporting hormone balance and staying active, anyone can naturally burn more calories and make weight loss easier and sustainable.

Bhagwant Mann Launches Mukh Mantri Sehat Bima Yojana – 92-Year-Old Gets Free Life-Saving Surgery in Just 3 Days

Bhagwant Mann
Google

The Mukh Mantri Sehat Bima Yojana was started by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. It is a big step toward making healthcare in the state universal and cheap for everyone. A 92-year-old patient got a free surgery that saved his life within three days, which made news and showed how quickly the policy could be put into action and how it could help people in the real world.

What does the Mukh Mantri Sehat Bima Yojana do?

The Mukh Mantri Sehat Bima Yojana is a government-run health insurance program that helps people in Punjab get medical care without having to pay cash. Families who qualify for the program can get a lot of different medical treatments covered at government and private hospitals that are part of the program.

Coverage, Benefits, and Who Can Get Them

Under the Sehat Bima Yojana, people who qualify can get the following:

  • No need to pay cash for big surgeries and stays in the hospital
  • Coverage for both state and private hospitals with an affiliation
  • Including senior people and groups that are struggling financially

To make sure things are clear and quick, the government has put a lot of emphasis on digital verification, real-time permits, and hospitals being responsible.

Importance in politics and society

Bhagwant Mann, the chief minister, said that health care shouldn’t depend on your age or income. The launch supports the Aam Aadmi Party government’s focus on welfare-led governance and outcome-based public policy, a model that is being talked about more and more in policy analytics and AI-led governance reviews.

Budget 2026: Middle Class India’s Game-Changer! 80D Cap Surge from 1.5 to 3 Lakh in Feb 1 Budget, Would This Finally Be A Reality?

Budget 2026

Budget 2026: The budget 2026-27 would be presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on February 1, 2026, and the salaried taxpayers are keeping their fingers crossed as to how their taxable salaries would get impacted.

Financial experts believe that Budget 2026 would likely take a pragmatic shift, prioritizing growth continuity in place of significant policy shifts. The budget this year is anticipated by many as a revolutionary game-changer just like budget of 2025 in which the FM made income up to ₹12 lakh tax-free.

Key Budget 2026 Expectations

Most salaried taxpayers and businessmen believe that the union government would provide only a modest surge in standard deduction from ₹75,000 to ₹1.25 or ₹1.50 lakh to offset inflation. The Long-term capital gains (LTCG) tax on property may see a tax-free limit hike from ₹1.25 lakh to ₹2-₹2.5 lakh so long-term investment prospects get raised. First-time homebuyers may get a substantial interest relief.

Health Insurance Deductions

Health insurance deductions may be increased under section 80D, as medical inflation is presently hovering at 11 to 14 percent. Industry experts are of the view that introducing enhanced and separate tax benefits for out-patient department services as well as preventive health screenings beyond the present-day limits of 80D would be helpful to encourage wider adoption of preventive care.

A prevention-powered approach that is supported equally and powerfully by budgetary reforms in Budget 2026 may play a significant role in enhancing health outcomes in the country, especially considering the ageing population of the rising burden of chronic diseases in India.

A reduction for Securities Transaction Tax (STT) on cash market trades has been urged by many eminent bodies like AMFI, BSE, MCX and the Association of Registered Investment Advisers. Many have also requested for a considerable reduction of long-term capital gains on equities to 8-10 percent. This would help improve overall market sentiment and incentivize long-term investments.

Shark Tank India 5: ‘Raat Ko Kharrate Par Kabu…’ Patiala-Based Founders Pitch Nasal Strip That Promises Easy Breathing – WATCH

The latest episode of Shark Tank India 5 features a pitch around a common but often ignored problem (difficulty in breathing while sleeping). A startup from Patiala called Pure Flow entered the tank with a nasal strip that claims to improve airflow and make breathing easier at night.

The founders (Parikshit Batra, Jashanjot Singh Bindra and Dev Sharma) introduced their product Pure Flow Tape. According to them, the strip helps reduce breathing resistance and improves comfort during sleep. They asked for Rs 1 crore in exchange for 3.3 percent equity, valuing their business at Rs 30 crore.

Shark Tank India 5 Pitch: How The Founders Presented Pure Flow Tape

While explaining their product on Shark Tank India 5, the founders said, “Raat ko kharrate par ab kabu kar sakte hai aap. Ek simple si nasal strip apni naak par lagaiye aur aaraam se saans lijiye. Hum hain founders of Pure Flow Management. Ye product humne Patiala mein develop kiya hai aur main hoon Dev.”

Dev further explained how the strip works and why it is different. “Main kehna chahta hoon ki ye sirf tape nahi, aapke overall wellness par kaam karti hai. Jaise hi ye aapki naak par lagti hai, iska spring aapka nasal passage khol deta hai jisse saans lena ho jata hai bilkul aasaan.”

Watch the video below

Jashanjot also shared his personal experience with mouth breathing. He said this problem inspired them to create the product. This helped the Sharks understand the idea behind the brand.

However, the conversation soon turned serious when Namita Thapar asked Jashanjot if he had ever been tested for sleep apnea. Jashanjot felt his issue was different and believed sleep apnea only meant completely stopping breathing. Namita corrected him and explained that such symptoms usually appear only in severe cases.

Sharks Question Business Model, Aman Gupta Supports

As the pitch moved ahead, the Sharks raised concerns about the business side. The founders revealed that their nasal and mouth strips are sourced from China and that they currently do not have an in-house R&D team. This made several Sharks cautious.

The situation became more surprising when the founders disclosed they also run another cosmetic brand called Get Snappy. They explained that they were pitching two brands under the same company. This left the Sharks visibly shocked.

Reacting to this, Aman Gupta said, “Same bande alag product, ye alag he chal raha hai yahan.”

One by one, the Sharks backed out. Namita Thapar cited a lack of focus and weak repeat customer numbers. Kunal Bahl said he did not see it as a strong brand. Mohit Jain called it a dropshipping business. Anupam Mittal advised the founders to concentrate on one venture.

Aman Gupta then shared his own experience of running multiple businesses before BoAt succeeded. He said, “It has worked for me, ek chali na, you may have 20 failures, but you need one success… Start karna bahot badi baat hot hai. What I’m not liking is structure. If you are ready to work on structure, then I am ready to give you an offer.”

After a short break and negotiations, a deal was finalised. Aman Gupta invested Rs 2 crore for 20 percent equity, bringing the valuation down to Rs 10 crore.

Magnesium’s Best-Kept Secrets Finally Exposed! Health Expert Shares The Right Way To Consume This Essential Mineral

Magnesium Benefits

Magnesium Benefits: In today’s world where physical appearance matters, protein, carbs and healthy fats often win the race while one quiet mineral often gets ignored – Magnesium!

Surprisingly, this unsung nutrient is involved in at least hundreds of reactions that help keep your heart beating steadily, your body muscles relaxed, your energy levels stable and your nerves calm and composed.

Modern-day lifestyles that are packed with processed foods, stress, irregular meals and sedentary motions leave your body with magnesium deficiency. Therefore, it is important to understand how magnesium supports your body, how to find and utilize it and how it can help you with better sleep, stronger bones, smoother digestion and a more resilient heart.

Magnesium Benefits-How Magnesium Helps Your Body?

Magnesium helps in the conversion of food you consume into usable energy to support the enzymes that drive more than 300 biochemical reactions in the body. When magnesium levels are low, you may feel more weak, fatigued or sluggish even with adequate food and sleep.

In addition to these advantages, it is also beneficial for nerve and muscle function. Magnesium helps muscles contract and relax properly, which is why low magnesium is associated with twitches, cramps or restless legs, especially at night. In the nervous system, it helps in the regulation of the release of neurotransmitters that affect stress response, mood and sleep quality.

Rich Sources Of Magnesium In Everyday Foods

The good news! Many common and affordable foods are naturally rich in magnesium.

Some of the best natural sources of magnesium include:

  • Leafy green vegetables: Spinach, methi (fenugreek leaves), sarson (mustard greens), amaranth leaves and other dark greens are excellent choice as the mineral sits in the centre of the chlorophyll molecule.
  • Nuts and seeds: Almonds, cashews, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and sesame (til) are highly rich in magnesium along with protein and healthy fats.
  • Other foods: Avocado, bananas, tofu, dark chocolate (ideally 70% cocoa or higher) and some types of fish add extra magnesium while also offering other nutrients.
  • Legumes and pulses: Lentils, chana, rajma (kidney beans), chickpeas and soybeans are valuable contributors of magnesium. Furthermore, they add fibre and plant protein to your diet.
  • Whole grains and millets: Brown rice, whole wheat, oats and traditional millets like ragi, jowar and bajra retain more magnesium than refined or polished grains. Replacing parts of your maida or white rice with any of these can be helpful to improve mineral intake.

Best Time And Tips To Consume Magnesium-Rich Foods

Magnesium from food products is best absorbed when spread throughout the day instead of a single large dose. For instance, you may include seeds or nuts in breakfast, leafy greens or pulses in lunch and whole grains along with greeny vegetables in dinner. Combining magnesium sources with foods containing vitamin B6 and other B vitamins (common in whole grains and pulses) may aid overall metabolism.

Things To Avoid And What Not To Take With Magnesium

Certain combinations and high supplemental doses require caution and therefore a high sense of care and diligence is required, after having a word with a medical practitioner.

Focusing on fresh, minimally processed foods, whole grains, pulses, nuts, seeds and greens is a safer, more sustainable way to meet daily needs.

He also commented that another set of 59 ambulances would very soon be outsourced by the state government including two ALS for each district of the state, around the same time period.

It was also remarked that all ambulances plying in each district of the state would be geo-tagged. They would have the facility of GPS-enabled tracking systems and monitoring devices while also being integrated with Dial 112/108 systems.

Present-Day Healthcare Facilities

Gurugram has 28 ambulances including 8 ALS, 10 PTAs and 7 BLS and the rest are deployed by the state government for non-emergency services.

Lokveer Singh, chief medical officer of Gurugram, remarked the state health department wants to make sure that all residents and patients get immediate coverage within 10 minutes. Singh added this can be done by strategically leveraging the ambulances in residential quarters and at high footfall areas.

The National Health Mission (NHM) data from January 2024 revealed that around 360,000 patients were transported by 598 ambulances between 2023 and 2024 with the average emergency response time remaining at 14.2 minutes.

Mustard Oil Test: Shocking Truth About Fortune’s ‘100% Pure’ Bottle That No One Told You, Check Video

Mustard Oil Test: Mustard oil is a staple in many Indian kitchens. We trust it for cooking, pickles, and even home remedies. So when a bottle says “100% pure mustard oil,” most of us don’t think twice. But what if the label doesn’t tell the full story? A recent Mustard Oil Test has raised questions that every consumer should know about.

This test focused on a popular brand that many households rely on daily. The results were not about safety scares or illegal adulteration. Instead, they revealed something more subtle but important (a mismatch between what the label claims and what the lab actually found).

To make things transparent, the product was ordered blindly from Amazon through a third-party seller. Two sealed 1-litre bottles from the same batch were sent directly to the laboratory. An uncut unboxing video shows the sealed product going straight for testing, ensuring there was no bias or interference at any stage.

Mustard Oil Test: What The Lab Found Vs What the Label Claims

The label mentioned only one ingredient (mustard oil), meaning the product claims to be 100% pure. In the first level of testing, chemical parameters were checked. Since oil contains only fat, the lab focused on fat quality and composition.

The total fat content was found to be 99.9%, which is expected for pure oil. However, the confusion began when the fat breakup was analysed. The company claimed saturated fat at 12 grams per 100 grams, but the lab found only 5.98 grams. Trans fat (claimed as 1 gram) was below the quantification limit.

Even bigger differences appeared in unsaturated fats. Monounsaturated fatty acids were claimed at 36 grams, while the lab found 66.97 grams. Polyunsaturated fatty acids were claimed at 16 grams but tested at 26.95 grams. These numbers did not match the label at all.

To double-check authenticity, a full fatty acid profile was done. Interestingly, all fatty acids were within FSSAI guidelines for mustard oil. This raised a key question – if the oil meets regulatory standards, why is the label so inconsistent? The issue became more puzzling when the same brand showed different fat values across platforms like Blinkit, Swiggy and Zepto.

Safety Checks, Purity Tests And Final Verdict

Beyond fat composition, the oil went through multiple quality and safety tests. No mineral oil was detected, ruling out adulteration with petroleum-based oils. The iodine value was within limits, confirming authenticity and no mixing with palm oil.

The acid value was low, indicating good quality and freshness. Tests for hydrocyanic acid showed levels below the quantification limit. Rancidity was negative, meaning the oil was fresh and safe to consume. Unsaponifiable matter and saponification values also stayed within FSSAI limits.

Physical checks showed no added colour, no argemone oil, no water separation and no foreign matter. Advanced tests for melamine, heavy metals and aflatoxins were also clear, with only copper detected within safe limits.

In short, the oil passed all six levels of testing under FSSAI standards. But it failed when compared against its own label claims. The product appears safe and authentic, but the lab results suggest that consumers may not be getting the nutritional information they are promised.

Bhagwant Mann: Punjab is witnessing a major transformation under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, with people-focused policies taking center stage. The state’s decision to provide 600 units of free electricity to households and free daytime power for farms has emerged as a landmark welfare initiative, bringing relief and stability to both urban and rural areas.

Major Financial Relief for Households

The free electricity program provides families throughout Punjab with essential financial relief because it decreases their monthly power costs. The provision of 600 free electricity units enables households to operate essential appliances because electricity serves as a basic requirement. This support has improved living standards, especially for middle- and lower-income families.

Empowering Farmers With Daytime Power Supply

The provision of free daytime electricity enables Punjab farmers to operate their farms with increased efficiency and convenience. Farmers can irrigate their fields more efficiently because power generation occurs throughout the day which decreases their need to work during nighttime hours while enhancing their total work efficiency.

Strengthening Rural and Urban Development

The scheme delivers affordable electricity to residential customers and agricultural operations which enables Punjab to achieve balanced development throughout its territory. The availability of a continuous power supply enables small businesses and home-based workers as well as rural enterprises to operate which leads to increased local economic development and job creation.

Efficient Power Management for Long-Term Benefits

The Punjab government has paired the free power scheme with better electricity management and infrastructure improvements. Reduced power losses, smarter distribution, and improved billing systems ensure that benefits reach people efficiently while maintaining system stability.

People-First Governance in Action

This initiative reflects a governance model that prioritizes public welfare and long-term social impact. By easing financial burdens and supporting key sectors like agriculture, the scheme builds public trust and promotes inclusive growth across the state.

Bhagwant Mann: Bhagwant Mann, the chief minister of Punjab, has asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to rename Adampur Airport after Sant Guru Ravidas. This has started a new discussion about symbolic recognition, social justice, and representation for everyone. The call comes before the Prime Minister’s planned trip to Punjab in February, which gives the demand new political and cultural weight.

Demand Based on Cultural and Social History

Mann talked about Guru Ravidas as a great spiritual reformer whose lessons about equality, dignity, and social harmony still inspire millions of people, especially those from disadvantaged groups. He said that naming a big public building after the saint would be a fitting way to honour his lasting legacy.

The government of Punjab says that Guru Ravidas’ ideas are very similar to the constitutional values of justice and brotherhood, which means that the plan is more than just a show of support.

Linked to PM Modi’s visit to Punjab

The desire has grown stronger as time goes on before Prime Minister Modi’s planned visit in February. Political experts think that the timing is smart because it could help the Centre meet a long-standing culture goal while also addressing regional feelings in Punjab.

There has been no official answer from the Prime Minister’s Office to the plan so far.

Reactions to politics and public speech

People have had different emotions about the call. Some people think it’s long overdue recognition of what Guru Ravidas did for India’s social reform movement. But critics say that religious figures shouldn’t be politicised and that changing infrastructure should be done based on what most people agree on.

A lot of people have talked about the problem on social media, and many support the move as a step toward more diversity in public places.

Why Renaming an Airport Is Important

People often see naming airports after famous people as a way to show respect for culture and express one’s identity. Supporters say that these kinds of actions help bring historically underrepresented voices to the forefront, while opponents stress the importance of administrative continuity and non-political naming practices.
