Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Friday joined the audience to witness the inaugural performance of the acclaimed theatrical production ‘Hamare Ram’ in Mohali, featuring renowned actor Ashutosh Rana in a powerful lead performance, marking the beginning of a statewide cultural initiative under which the Punjab Government will organise 41 free performances across 12 cities during August and September. Describing the initiative as an effort to take the timeless teachings of Lord Sri Ram to the people, the Chief Minister said the programme aims to strengthen the values of Sanatan Dharma while spreading the message of truth, righteousness, compassion and unity through the powerful medium of theatre.

Reaffirming his government’s commitment to preserving Punjab’s rich cultural heritage, the Chief Minister said the performances have been made free of cost so that people from all sections of society can experience and draw inspiration from the life and ideals of Lord Sri Ram.

Addressing a packed auditorium during the inaugural performance, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “The Punjab Government is organising 41 performances of the acclaimed production across 12 cities of the state during August and September to promote the rich cultural heritage and traditional values of Punjab.”

Highlighting the significance of the initiative, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Punjab is a sacred and historic land, and the state government is committed to perpetuating its glorious legacy. The Punjab Government is organising the Hamare Ram show, which beautifully brings to life the timeless teachings and ideals of Lord Sri Ram. Detailing the statewide initiative, he said, “The Punjab Government will organise 41 performances of Hamare Ram during the months of August and September, with the series commencing today from Mohali. These performances will be held across 12 cities of Punjab, namely Mohali, Bathinda, Jalandhar, Ferozepur, Hoshiarpur, Amritsar, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Patiala, Ludhiana, Sangrur and Khanna. Through this initiative, the state government aims to promote the rich cultural heritage and traditional values of Punjab.”

Emphasising the cultural and spiritual importance of the production, the Chief Minister said, “The state government is committed to taking the timeless message of Sanatan Dharma to the people through the historic epic of the Ramayana. The theatrical production Hamare Ram has received widespread appreciation at both the national and international level, particularly from the younger generation. The show presents the Ramayana from unique and unexplored perspectives, offering audiences a fresh and enriching experience.”

Underscoring the objective of the programme, he said, “The main objective is to inspire the younger generation by promoting India’s spiritual, cultural and moral heritage while showcasing world-class theatrical excellence. I hope this unique initiative will help reinforce the values of Sanatan Dharma and strengthen the message of truth, righteousness, compassion and unity in society. Cheema also announced that work on the Malwa Canal project is progressing and will be completed at the earliest. The canal is expected to enhance irrigation facilities and improve water availability for farmers across the region.

In addition, he said approval has been granted for 510 large groundwater recharge wells, a key step in boosting groundwater replenishment and strengthening Punjab’s water conservation infrastructure.

The Bhagwant Mann-led government has maintained that expanding canal irrigation, accelerating recharge projects, and modernising water infrastructure remain central to its strategy for protecting groundwater resources while supporting farmers and sustainable agricultural development.
