Bhagwant Mann intensifies anti-gangster crackdown; over 28,000 arrested since campaign launch

Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday said it has intensified its statewide crackdown against gangster networks under the ongoing campaign ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’, conducting hundreds of raids and detaining over 200 individuals in a single day of operations.

According to the police, Day 112 of the campaign witnessed coordinated action by Punjab Police and the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) at multiple identified locations across the state.

Officials said a total of 516 raids were carried out during the operation, leading to the detention of 213 individuals. Police teams also apprehended 11 proclaimed offenders and recovered two weapons during the drive.

Punjab Police stated that the total number of arrests under the anti-gangster campaign has now reached 28,551 since the launch of the operation.

In a statement shared on social media, the police reiterated their commitment to dismantling organised criminal networks and ensuring public safety across the state.

The department has also urged citizens to share information related to gangster activities through its anonymous Anti-Gangster Helpline number 93946-93946.

Bhagwant Mann has repeatedly asserted the state government’s commitment to tackling organised crime and restoring law and order in Punjab.

Police officials said the raids were conducted simultaneously in several districts as part of a coordinated enforcement strategy aimed at identifying active gang members, their associates and logistical support systems. Teams reportedly checked suspicious premises, monitored movement of history-sheeters and gathered intelligence inputs during the operation.

Authorities said the crackdown is focused not only on arresting wanted criminals but also on breaking financial and communication networks linked to organised gangs operating in the state. Senior officers have been directed to maintain strict surveillance in sensitive areas and continue follow-up operations.

Punjab Police said public cooperation remains crucial in the fight against organised crime and anti-social elements. Citizens have been encouraged to provide information anonymously through the dedicated helpline to help police trace criminal activities and prevent incidents related to extortion, illegal weapons and gang rivalry.

With Raja Shivaji currently at Rs 73.15 crore, the film now needs approximately Rs 3–4 crore more to surpass Baipan Bhari Deva and secure the second position in the all-time Marathi box office chart.

Trade experts believe this target is achievable if the film maintains its current pace. The upcoming weekend could play a crucial role in pushing the numbers higher, especially with strong evening and family audience turnout.

While overtaking Baipan Bhari Deva looks within reach, the real challenge remains Sairat, which still stands at Rs 80.98 crore. The gap of nearly Rs 8 crore is significant, but not impossible if Raja Shivaji continues its strong theatrical run into the third week.

According to KRK, Jyoti Deshpande allegedly called both Ranveer Singh and Aditya Dhar “fools” and refused to complete the project at one stage. He further claimed that the actor-director duo had to invest their own money to finish the film.

KRK also alleged that the producer chose not to actively promote the film as she reportedly lacked confidence in its success. He further claimed that OTT rights were sold to Netflix India before release, based on similar concerns about box office performance.

Adding to his claims, KRK stated that Ranveer Singh is now reportedly demanding Rs 100 crore for Dhurandhar 3, while Aditya Dhar is asking for Rs 75 crore. He suggested that such high fee demands could make the next instalment difficult to move forward.

Despite these viral claims, official sources and industry reports present a different picture. Jio Studios has strongly backed the Dhurandhar franchise, including both Dhurandhar (2025) and Dhurandhar 2 The Revenge (2026), which together reportedly crossed Rs 3,000 crore globally.

The production house has denied any claims of funding issues or withdrawal of support. Instead, the studio continues to stand firmly behind Ranveer Singh and Aditya Dhar’s vision for the spy universe.
