Countries across the Middle East are closely monitoring the situation as concerns grow over regional stability and possible disruptions to global trade and oil supply routes.

Global oil prices have increased sharply following fears of renewed conflict between the US and Iran. Rising crude oil prices are creating concerns about inflation and fuel costs in several countries, including India.

Kiara Advani has opened up about motherhood, parenting and the kind of life lessons she wants her daughter to grow up with. The actress, who welcomed daughter Saraayah with husband Sidharth Malhotra in 2025, recently shared her honest thoughts on modern relationships, dating and marriage expectations.

In a candid conversation, Kiara Advani revealed that she does not want her daughter to grow up believing she has to follow society’s traditional rules around love. The actress said she hopes Saraayah makes her own choices in life and experiences relationships without pressure or fear of judgment.

Kiara Advani Talks About Parenting Saraayah

Speaking about her upbringing, Kiara Advani shared that she grew up watching her parents as childhood sweethearts who eventually married and built a family together. That naturally shaped her own early understanding of relationships.

“Subconsciously, I felt like that is how it has to be,” Kiara admitted while reflecting on how she once believed every relationship would eventually lead to marriage.

However, the actress said life experiences later changed her perspective. According to Kiara, every relationship teaches important lessons and contributes to personal growth.

She said, “All those relationships in your life that you have growing up, they all teach you something. They make you eventually the person you are.”

Kiara explained that because of those experiences, she never wants her daughter to feel trapped by fixed ideas about love or marriage.

She shared, “I don’t want her to feel like she has to only date one person. If you want to get married, get married. If you don’t want to get married, don’t get married.”

The actress added that she wants Saraayah to grow up with the freedom to make her own decisions instead of living according to societal expectations. She said, “I would like to bring her up in a way that lets her make all her choices for herself.”

Kiara Advani Believes Mistakes Help People Grow

Kiara Advani also spoke about allowing children to experience life fully, even if it means making mistakes along the way. She explained, “It’s okay to experience life in totality, to decide what you want, what you don’t want. And you will make mistakes along the way.”

According to the actress, learning from those experiences is an important part of growing up. Kiara stressed that she does not want her daughter to see the world only through her parents’ journey. She added, “I don’t want her to experience life from our experiences. She should have her own.”

What Sidharth Malhotra Told Kiara About Parenting

Kiara also revealed an interesting conversation she had with husband Sidharth Malhotra about raising their daughter in the future.

The actress said she once asked Sidharth how he would react if Saraayah had a boyfriend someday. His response, according to Kiara, left her impressed. Sidharth told her, “Our job as parents is not to restrict her from anything. We will teach her to be able to choose for herself what’s right for her and what’s wrong for her. That’s our job.”

Kiara described his answer as “wise” and said she hopes their daughter always feels comfortable sharing things with her parents without fear of being judged.

PM Modi: India is facing growing economic pressure due to rising global oil prices and the falling rupee. Amid the situation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reportedly urged schools to shift towards online classes and encouraged offices to adopt work-from-home arrangements to reduce fuel consumption and operational costs.

Higher Oil Prices Exert New Economic Stress

As India experiences an increase in economic stress, global crude oil prices have been rising rapidly. These rising costs are impacting various activities related to transportation and traveling, which has raised many concerns for citizens and businesses alike.

Declining Rupee Raises Fears

Another source of worry for the country is the declining rupee exchange rate against the US dollar. This decline results in higher import costs, placing extra stress on fuel prices, necessities, and other industries.

Citizens, businesses, and financial experts are closely monitoring the situation as rising oil prices and rupee weakness continue to impact the economy.

Pati Patni Aur Woh Do Director Mudassar Aziz Says He Refuses To Use Cheap Humour For Laughs – ‘Not My Fitrat…’

Director Mudassar Aziz has carved a unique space for himself in Bollywood comedy with films that find humour in awkward situations without crossing the line into vulgarity. From Happy Bhag Jayegi to Khel Khel Mein, the filmmaker has consistently focused on situational comedy rather than cheap jokes. Now, as he gears up for the release of Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, Mudassar has once again opened up about why he avoids crude humour in his films.

Speaking in an interview with Hindustan Times, Mudassar Aziz said he strongly believes comedy should emerge naturally from situations and characters instead of relying on offensive or double-meaning jokes. The filmmaker explained that this approach comes from both his upbringing and his personal values.

Mudassar Aziz Says Crude Humour Is ‘Not My Fitrat’

Mudassar Aziz shared that he has always been particular about the kind of humour he puts on screen. According to him, comedy works best when it grows organically from the story.

He said, “I am very particular about this—comedy should be created from the situation, not from some bhadde mazaak (crude joke).”

The director pointed to Khel Khel Mein as an example. While the film dealt with themes like infidelity, Mudassar said it never mocked the seriousness of the issue itself. Instead, the humour came from the chaos and misunderstandings surrounding the characters.

At the same time, Mudassar clarified that his views are purely personal and not meant as criticism of filmmakers who choose a different style of comedy.

He explained, “Mujhe jaati taur pe pasand nahi aata (Personally, I don’t like it). I don’t consider myself big enough in stature to say whether that kind of cinema should exist or not. Those who make it, make it. But personally, I don’t like it.”

Family Values Shape Mudassar Aziz And His Films

The filmmaker also revealed that his family background and childhood cinema experiences played a big role in shaping his sensibilities as a director.

Mudassar recalled growing up in Mumbai and watching films with his mother and elder sister at iconic theatres like Liberty Cinema, Novelty Cinema, Maratha Mandir and Minerva. Those memories still influence the kind of films he wants to create today.

He shared, “I grew up in Mumbai, and community watching of cinema has been a big part of my childhood.”

The director added that becoming a father has made him even more conscious about what he puts on screen.

Mudassar said, “And today, Masha Allah, I am the father of a daughter, so that is also a responsibility on my head. So, the film I cannot show to my family, I don’t expect to show it to outsiders; that’s not in my fitrat (nature). So maybe that’s why I don’t do it.”

Ayushmann Khurrana Calls Pati Patni Aur Woh Do A Family Entertainer

Earlier, Ayushmann Khurrana also addressed the themes of Pati Patni Aur Woh Do and stressed that the movie does not promote infidelity.

The actor described the film as a wholesome family comedy and said audiences of all ages would be able to enjoy it together. He also mentioned that his own children approved of the film.

Ayushmann said, “We are not promoting any infidelity because it is a family film. Everyone will enjoy watching it. It is just a comedy of errors. Ismein aisa kuch nahi hai ke Prajapati ka kissi ke saath affair hai. Aisa kuch bhi nahi hai [There is nothing in it that suggests Prajapati is having an affair with anyone. There is nothing like that at all].”

What To Expect From Pati Patni Aur Woh Do

Directed by Mudassar Aziz, Pati Patni Aur Woh Do is scheduled to release in theatres on May 15, 2026. The film is being described as a spiritual sequel to the 2019 hit and promises a classic situational comedy packed with misunderstandings and relationship chaos.

Set in Prayagraj, the story follows Prajapati Pandey, played by Ayushmann Khurrana, a senior forest department officer whose seemingly stable married life spirals into confusion after one decision changes everything.

The film also stars Wamiqa Gabbi, Sara Ali Khan and Rakul Preet Singh in key roles. Supporting performances from Vijay Raaz and Tigmanshu Dhulia are also expected to add to the film’s comic chaos.

Unlike many relationship comedies, the makers insist the film focuses on misunderstandings and modern relationship dynamics without glorifying cheating.

‘Law Is Equal for Everyone…’ Suvendu Adhikari Warns Against Religious Road Congestion, Says No Road Blockades for Namaz or Prayers, Loudspeakers to…

Suvendu- Adhikari
Google

“Law is equal for everyone,” Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said strongly and warned that no religious road blockade will be allowed for namaz, prayers or public worship that disrupts traffic and public convenience. In his new BJP-led government, he has instructed police and local authorities to ensure that loudspeakers do not create noise pollution outside religious places and congregations do not overflow onto public roads on normal days, except for special occasions with prior permission.

The rationale for this decision

Mamata Banerjee’s tenure was plagued by regular allegations of “selective secularism”: authorities were accused of permitting regular Islamic processions and Friday namaz on prominent roads, while curbing Hindu festivals like Durga Puja and idol immersions, especially around Muharram. BJP leaders such as Suvendu Adhikari and visiting leaders like Yogi Adityanath repeatedly accused the TMC government of allowing street namaz and iftar feasts while curtailing Hindu processions, further polarising the situation and making it a major election issue.

What happened after BJP came to power

Suvendu Adhikari, now the first BJP chief minister of West Bengal, has been quick to signal a hard law-and-order image. In his first meeting with senior police officers after taking oath, he gave clear instructions: no blocking of roads for regular namaz, no noise from loudspeakers beyond mosque premises, zero-tolerance for sand and coal mining, cattle smuggling, and crimes against women.

Now the situation of peace in Bengal

Despite BJP’s narrative of restoring peace and equality, the immediate post-election period has been marked by intense political violence in parts of West Bengal with reports of targeted killings, arson and clashes between TMC and BJP supporters.

Suvendu Adhikari’s victory and ascension to CM is reshaping the state discourse around “equal law for all,” strict implementation and a more aggressive security-first image, challenging the Mamata-era model of “festival politics” and perceived religious procession imbalances, with the new BJP government.

‘Need Answers Quickly’ Shreyas Iyer Faces Tough Questions After Punjab Kings’ Losing Streak Continues, On Field Decisions Create Stir

Shreyas- Iyer

Pressure is mounting on Punjab Kings skipper Shreyas Iyer following yet another disappointing defeat for the franchise in the ongoing IPL season. The side are slipping further down the points table and questions are being asked now not just of the players’ performances, but also some of the tactical decisions on the field.

Punjab Kings began the match hoping to arrest their slide, but the outcome again highlighted familiar problems. Changes in bowling, field placements and batting order tweaks were some of the moves from the captain’s playbook that quickly became talking points among fans and cricket analysts alike.

On-field decisions are under review

One of the biggest debates was about Punjab’s middle overs bowling rotation. The side failed to take advantage of a brief shift in momentum, critics said. On social media, many wondered why the attack options were delayed while opposition batters settled in comfortably.

The batting order also came under the scanner after Punjab suffered a middle-order collapse. The fans felt the team were not playing with urgency in the crucial overs and the required run rate climbed up quickly. Some ex cricketers said the side looked ‘confused under pressure’ and clearer decision making is desperately needed.

Shreyas Iyer: “Need Answers ASAP”

Frustrations are mounting and experts feel Punjab Kings need to make quick moves to ensure their season doesn’t slip away completely. The phrase “need answers quickly” has become symbolic of the situation surrounding the franchise.

Though Shreyas Iyer has shown composure in public, the repeated losses are adding to the pressure on the leadership group. IPL campaigns are fickle and once the dressing room’s morale is down, it is difficult for the teams to bounce back.

But before becoming a global star, the actress witnessed a different level of stardom during her very first film. Priyanka recently opened up about working with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and actor Vijay in the 2002 Tamil film Thamizhan and recalled being stunned by the fan frenzy around him.

The actress shared that working with Thalapathy Vijay gave her the first real taste of what fame looked like in the film industry. Priyanka revealed that she was amazed to see hundreds of fans gathering on set just to watch Vijay perform. Her comments have now gone viral online, with many fans revisiting the actress’ lesser-known Tamil film debut.

Priyanka Chopra Recalls Working With Thalapathy Vijay

During her appearance on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, Priyanka Chopra spoke about her debut experience in Tamil cinema before entering Bollywood.

She said, “It was a movie called Thamizhan in the Tamil language in India. I learned phonetically because it was impossible to learn a new language. But I memorised my lines. My first exposure to fame came from my first co-actor. His name is Vijay, who’s extremely popular.”

Priyanka further described the massive craze surrounding Vijay on set. The actress said, “There used to be hundreds and hundreds of people standing there to watch him while he was dancing or doing his thing. It was my first movie, and I had no idea what happened behind the scenes—we just saw what we saw in movie theatres. I remember thinking it must feel like being a demi-god.”

Priyanka Chopra’s Journey From Miss World To Global Star

Priyanka Chopra won the Miss World crown in 2000 and soon entered the film industry. While she appeared in Thamizhan first, her Hindi film debut came with The Hero: Love Story of a Spy and Andaaz.

Over the years, she delivered memorable performances in films like Aitraaz, Fashion, Barfi!, Kaminey and Bajirao Mastani.

The actress further recalled an incident involving choreographer Raju Khan during the shoot of Andaaz in South Africa.

Priyanka revealed, “He got so upset with me that he threw the mic down, saying – You might come from a pageant, but learn how to dance before you become an actress. He just walked away, and I was so embarrassed.”

After her recent projects Heads of State and The Bluff, Priyanka Chopra is now gearing up for Prime Video’s Citadel Season 2. The actress is also set to return to Indian cinema with SS Rajamouli and Mahesh Babu’s Varanasi.

Punjab’s peace, communal harmony cannot be allowed to be disturbed; divisive forces will never succeed in Punjab: CM Bhagwant Singh Mann

CM Mann

Amid thunderous slogans, roaring crowds and an overwhelming outpouring of affection during a Lok Milni at village Saahib Chand in the Gidderbaha constituency, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Sunday received siropas, portraits and blessings from villagers who gathered in huge numbers to welcome him. Riding on massive public enthusiasm, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann launched a fierce attack on divisive politics, declaring that Punjab’s peace, communal harmony and brotherhood would never be allowed to be disturbed for political gains.

Warning that anti-Punjab forces are trying to drag the state back into dark days through communal polarization, the Chief Minister asserted that Punjab’s soil can nurture everything except hatred and animosity, and said the people of the state would unitedly defeat every attempt to spread fear and division. Targeting the BJP over its “politics of creating divisions between communities”, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said Punjab celebrates every festival together and would firmly reject such agendas, while also asserting that the Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Amendment Act, 2026 would ensure that no sacrilege accused escapes punishment by exploiting loopholes in law.

Addressing the Lok Milni gathering, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann asserted that Punjab’s spiritual and cultural legacy stands firmly against hatred and divisive politics, and warned that Punjabis must unite to defeat every attempt aimed at pushing the state back into dark days. He said Punjab is the sacred land of great Gurus, saints and seers who have shown the path of mutual love, tolerance and harmony. “Punjab has a very fertile land and anything can germinate on it except hatred and animosity. The social bonding amongst people is already very strong and people should come together to further strengthen it,” he said.

The Chief Minister categorically said that it is high time Punjabis united to give a befitting reply to divisive forces inimical to the peace, amity and communal harmony of the state. “Those trying to disturb communal harmony are enemies of Punjab because they again want to push the state into black days,” he said.

Targeting the BJP, the Chief Minister said the saffron party had gained power in Maharashtra, Haryana, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Bengal through divisive politics, but would never succeed in Punjab because Punjabis celebrate every festival together. “Some political parties are trying to divide people in the name of religion. BJP’s politics revolves around creating divisions between communities and then frightening both sides for votes. Punjab must outrightly reject such forces because the state has already witnessed dark days in the past which derailed its development,” he said.

Speaking about his ongoing “Shukrana Yatra”, the Chief Minister said he had undertaken the yatra to thank the Almighty for bestowing upon him the opportunity to enact the Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Amendment Act, 2026. He said huge gatherings of devotees welcomed him with blessings, flowers and siropas throughout the journey for enacting and implementing strict laws to stop sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. “Despite intense heat, mothers, sisters and millions of people have gathered on the route. I thank them from the bottom of my heart for showering their blessings and support,” he said.

The Chief Minister said whenever incidents of sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji took place, the psyche of millions of people was deeply hurt. He said there was always hope that culprits would be caught and punished, but loopholes in the law allowed them to escape punishment by declaring themselves mentally unstable. “Many times, culprits escaped the gallows by saying ‘my mind is disturbed’ or ‘he is mentally ill’, and they walked free,” CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said.

However, the Chief Minister questioned why someone claiming mental instability would specifically target Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji alone. “If someone is truly mentally unstable, then why does he only target Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji? Why does he not crash into a train engine or touch live electric wires? The truth is that such acts were often deliberate and orchestrated,” he said.

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said the Punjab Government had now plugged such loopholes through the new law by including a clause that even if someone is medically declared mentally unstable, their custodians, parents, guardians or caretakers would also face criminal charges. “There will be no bail for at least ten years and in severe cases punishment can extend up to life imprisonment,” he added.

The Chief Minister said the Almighty had blessed him with the wisdom and strength to bring this Bill after detailed consultations with legal experts. He said the Punjab Government had drafted the legislation carefully so that no future amendments or loopholes could weaken it.

Targeting the Badal family, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said they would never support this law because their own names were linked to sacrilege incidents. “People kept voting for them believing they carried the legacy of Baba Nanak, but they deliberately allowed Baba Nanak’s Bani to be insulted on the streets. They even ordered water cannons and bullets against peacefully protesting devotees. What else can be expected from them?” he asked.

The Chief Minister said ever since the law was passed, not a single Akali Dal leader was visible in Punjab because they had quietly left for foreign countries fearing their names would surface. “The Almighty does not bless dishonest people forever. These are the same people who once claimed they would rule Punjab for 25 years. Today they do not even have 25 candidates left to distribute election tickets because people have sent them into political oblivion,” CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said.

Lashing out at the Akalis, the Chief Minister said they were never sincere about bringing such a law while in power because their intentions were flawed. “The Akalis allowed sacrilege incidents to take place for political gains. They admitted their mistakes before Akal Takht Sahib but later denied them publicly. Those who can lie before the Takht can never be loyal to anyone,” he said.

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann warned people to stay cautious of such leaders who only wanted political power to plunder Punjab. Coming down heavily on the BJP, he said violence, divisiveness and communal tension were a patent of the saffron party and an integral part of its politics. “BJP is trying to incite violence and fear in Punjab on the pattern of Bengal to win the ensuing polls, but its nefarious designs will never succeed in Punjab,” the Chief Minister said, reiterating the Punjab Government’s commitment to peace, unity and democratic values.

The Chief Minister said Punjab has always stood as a beacon of communal harmony and resilience, and any attempt to disturb its peace would be firmly resisted. “Violence is a brand of BJP’s politics and is aimed solely at garnering votes by creating terror and panic. This divisive politics is being pursued by BJP in every poll-bound state for electoral gains,” CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said.

He said now that the Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Amendment Act, 2026 had been passed, anti-Punjab forces would not be able to fulfil their nefarious designs. “Baffled by this, BJP is now resorting to acts aimed at disturbing Punjab’s hard-earned peace, but this will never be allowed,” he asserted.

The Chief Minister said he has always remained among people to seek feedback for framing development-oriented and citizen-centric policies, which has upset the opposition parties. “The entire opposition has joined hands against me with a clear-cut strategy to defame me by leveling false and irrational allegations. These forces are trying to sway people by creating fake and derogatory narratives, but people will teach them a lesson,” CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said.

The Chief Minister said the wise people of Punjab are fully aware of the dubious and treacherous character of opposition leaders and would certainly teach them a lesson. “These cheap theatrics can never deter me from serving the people of Punjab. I will continue to discharge this responsibility till my last breath,” he said.

Lashing out at the opposition, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said these parties had no agenda against the Punjab Government because the Punjab Government had taken several key decisions for public welfare.

Taking a jibe at the Akali Dal’s “Punjab Bachao Yatra”, the Chief Minister said its real name was “Parivar Bachao Yatra”. “After looting Punjab for 15 years, they should explain from whom they are trying to save the state,” he remarked.

The Chief Minister said the Akalis had mercilessly plundered Punjab, bruised the psyche of Punjabis emotionally and patronised several mafias. “The Akali leadership can never be forgiven because generations of Punjab were destroyed as the drug trade flourished during their long era of misrule,” CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said.

The Chief Minister said the Akalis should be booked for the genocide of generations because the drug trade was patronised by them and flourished during their rule. “The hands of these leaders are drenched with the blood of millions of youth who fell prey to drugs supplied in the state in their official vehicles. Their sins are unpardonable and people can never forgive them for their long saga of misdeeds,” he added.

Coming down heavily on the Akali leadership, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said these were opportunistic leaders who changed colours and stances like chameleons according to political convenience. He said everyone knows the family was a stooge of the Britishers and was conferred the title of “Sir” for hobnobbing against patriots who fought for the country.

The Chief Minister said the family had hosted a dinner for General Dyer after the Jallianwala Bagh massacre on April 13, 1919. “Not only this, they ensured General Dyer was bestowed siropa and forgiveness at Sri Harmandir Sahib. Jathedar Arood Singh, who granted the siropa, was the maternal grandfather of former Lok Sabha MP Simarjit Singh Mann,” CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said.

He said history cannot be erased and the dubious character of Badal’s ancestors is etched in history forever. “The hands of this family are drenched with the blood of patriots and their betrayal of nationalists can never be forgotten,” he added.

Training his guns against Congress, the Chief Minister said every Congress leader aspired to become Chief Minister and the party had more chief ministerial aspirants than ordinary workers. Taking a jibe at Congress leaders dreaming of returning to power, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said Congress was a divided house that would collapse because of internal infighting.

He also attacked Congress over the attack on Sri Harmandir Sahib, the 1984 riots and several anti-Sikh and anti-Punjab decisions, which he said could never be forgiven.

Highlighting welfare initiatives of the Punjab Government, the Chief Minister said public money was now being spent transparently on schools, hospitals, roads and development. He said 90% households were getting free electricity, more than 65,000 youth had received jobs without corruption, roads had improved and toll plazas had been shut, saving nearly ₹70 lakh daily.

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said no freebie or concession card could permanently eradicate poverty, and only education had the power to pull people out of the vicious cycle of deprivation. “Education is the light that illuminates the world by dispelling darkness. That is why the Punjab Government is laying special thrust on education,” he said.

The Chief Minister said Punjab securing first position in foundational education ahead of Kerala in NITI Aayog’s 2026 report was a matter of immense pride and satisfaction.

Highlighting the health sector reforms, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said the Punjab Government had launched the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna under which health cards were being issued to all 65 lakh families in Punjab, entitling every family to free treatment up to ₹10 lakh. He said more than 30 lakh beneficiaries had already received health cards and 1.65 lakh people had availed free treatment under the scheme.

The Chief Minister urged people to take maximum benefit from the scheme and said for the first time in Punjab’s history, farmers were receiving more than eight hours of uninterrupted power supply during paddy season. He said farmers were now getting daytime electricity for irrigation, transforming their lives.

Talking about the Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna, the Chief Minister said the Punjab Government had started the scheme to provide ₹1000 per month to other categories women and ₹1500 per month to SC category women above 18 years of age. “This is not a political function but a platform to interact with people. Earlier governments came and went but never bothered about the wellbeing of the masses. They only played musical chairs while plundering Punjab’s wealth,” CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said.

He said people eventually voted for the broom, resulting in the transformation of schools, hospitals and governance across Punjab.

The Chief Minister said Akali leaders were now begging for one more chance despite already getting five opportunities from the people earlier. “Instead of serving people, they looted Punjab and that is why people showed them the door. These parties only wait for their turn in power so they can plunder Punjab again,” he said.

Highlighting irrigation reforms, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said it was a matter of immense pride that 68% canal water was now being used for irrigation and this would be increased to 85% by the coming paddy season. He said the Punjab Government had laid 14,000 kilometres of pipelines and watercourses across the state and released 21,000 cusecs of water to benefit farmers.

“This water is equal to the supply of two Bhakra canals. Recharge points have been created in canals and rivers due to which groundwater levels have increased by two to four metres. This decision is aimed at securing the wellbeing of future generations because Punjab exists because of water,” the Chief Minister added.
