Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh: Washington To Woo Pro-Pakistan Islamist Party Before Elections, Should This Worry New Delhi?

Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh: Recent media reports have suggested that Washington is likely to woo Jamaat-e-Islami, the Islamist party of Bangladesh, before the upcoming elections.

Jamaat is likely to deliver a winning performance in the February 12 elections. Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League Party is already banned from the Bangladesh elections. Tarique Rahman, the Party chair of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, is yet to find the “connection“.

Now comes the interesting part – the Jamaat-e-Islami has a pro-Pakistan tilt. Washington’s decision to stay too close to it may backfire as New Delhi may be against anyone who favours Pakistan.

Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh-US Connection

Donald Trump wants the leaders of Jamaat to be friends. It is believed that Washington is encouraging journalists to bring the Islami Chhatra Shibir, the influential party wing of the Jamaat, onto their television programs.

A fundamentalist Islamic Party, Jamaat-e-Islami has a history of being banned for anti-national activities. The party was first banned in 1972 after the country achieved its independence due to its alleged role in the 1971 genocide. In 2013, it was banned again and the Bangladesh High Court deregistered it as a political party. In August 2024, a fresh ban was imposed by the Awami League government but it was reversed by the interim government later that month.

The Growing Popularity of Jamaat

Jamaat-e-Islami seems to have reinvented itself, unsettling minority communities and traditional moderates. Since Sheikh Hasin was thrown out, the party has been trying hard to emphasize on welfare and anti-corruption outreach to win voters and broaden its appeal.

An International Republican Institute (IRI) poll revealed that the Jamaat is “liked” by more than 53 percent of the respondents. Last year, the student wing of Jamaat won major student union elections at Dhaka and other prominent universities.

Some of the party’s Islamist coalition partners have exited the Jamaat-led electoral alliance, underscoring the Islamic Bloc’s tactical and ideological frictions.

Border 2 Actor Varun Dhawan Gets Support From Mentor Karan Johar Amid Heavy Trolling For His One-Sided Smile

Border 2 Actor Varun Dhawan Gets Support From Karan Johar Against Trolling

Actor Varun Dhawan has received strong support from his mentor Karan Johar after facing heavy trolling online for his smile in the upcoming film Border 2. The actor was targeted on social media after the release of the film’s trailer and song, with many users mocking his “one-sided” smile.

The criticism quickly gained traction, turning into memes and debates. However, Karan Johar stepped in to defend his mentee and called out the negativity around the actor.

Taking to Instagram Stories on Friday, the filmmaker made it clear that online noise does not decide an artist’s value. He strongly criticised what he described as “noisemakers” and defended Varun against unfair judgement.

Karan Johar Backs Varun Dhawan Amid Border 2 Trolling

Karan Johar did not hold back while responding to the trolling. He wrote that social media users can troll an artist for his smile, but then he laughs when the film releases to packed houses and he receives pure, authentic audience love.

The filmmaker further added, “Has to be said… the reason why it’s called a virtual world! Real will always score and prove the noise on social media as defunct!”

Karan added, “You can troll an artist for his smile, but then he laughs when the film releases to packed houses and he receives pure authentic audience love! So noisemakers and clickbait-seeking content creators can do what they like … truth will always prevail!”

Karan Johar’s Instagram Story

Apart from defending Varun, Karan also praised Border 2, which he has already watched. Sharing the film’s poster on Instagram, he wrote, “Border 2 moved me to tears in many scenes. Patriotism with a beating heart! Sure shot winner.” He also tagged Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty and the film’s makers.

Why Was Varun Trolled And How He Reacted

The trolling began soon after the release of Border 2 promotional material. Social media users focused on Varun’s “one-sided” or lopsided grin. Many felt his expressions and “fun, urban image” did not match the serious role of a soldier. Some even questioned his casting as Colonel Hoshiar Singh Dahiya.

Instead of reacting angrily, Varun handled the criticism with humour. During an Instagram Live session, he joked that his smile was trending. He even gave singer Vishal Mishra a “smile tutorial” by saying, “smile completely, then drop half from one side.”

In Border 2 (2026), Varun Dhawan plays Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya (PVC), a real-life hero from the 3 Grenadiers regiment during the 1971 Indo-Pak War. His character leads a crucial mission during the Battle of Basantar to capture the strategic Pakistani post of Jarpal.

The film’s climax shows him badly injured while defending his position with a machine gun. He is later rescued by Fateh Singh Kaler, played by Sunny Deol. While the characters played by Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty are shown as martyrs, Varun’s character survives and is honoured with the Param Vir Chakra for his bravery.

Kamaal R Khan Arrested: Actor and self-proclaimed film critic Kamaal R Khan (widely known as KRK) has landed in legal trouble after a gunfire incident in Mumbai’s Andheri area. Mumbai Police arrested him on Friday after questioning him over firing four bullets at a residential building in Oshiwara on January 18.

The incident quickly grabbed attention due to KRK’s strong social media presence and long history of controversies. While no one was injured, police are treating the matter seriously because of the safety risk involved.

Kamaam R Khan Arrested, Questioned By Police

During questioning, KRK told the police that the firing was unintentional. He claimed the gun went off while he was cleaning his licensed firearm. According to him, he fired the bullets only to check the gun’s “functionality.” He also told the police that he never meant to hurt anyone.

As per sources, KRK said he aimed the gun towards a large mangrove forest in front of his house. He believed the bullets would get lost in the dense greenery. However, things went wrong due to strong winds at the time. The bullets allegedly travelled beyond the mangroves and hit a residential building in Oshiwara.

Police officials later confirmed that the bullets were recovered from inside the building. Thankfully, no residents were harmed. Still, the incident raised serious concerns, leading to immediate action by the police.

Mumbai Police detained KRK after detailed questioning. During the probe, he admitted that the firing was done using his licensed gun. Officials are now verifying his claims to find out whether the act was due to negligence or something else. At present, the motive behind the firing remains unclear.

Meanwhile, Oshiwara police have seized the firearm used in the incident. The paperwork process is underway, and further action will depend on the investigation’s findings. Police are also checking whether firearm safety rules were violated.

The episode has once again put KRK in the spotlight. Known for his blunt and often provocative opinions, he frequently faces criticism, online backlash, and legal issues.

Who Is KRK?

Kamaal R Khan is an Indian actor, producer, writer and internet commentator. Born on January 1, 1975, in Deoband (Uttar Pradesh), he rose to attention after producing, writing and starring in the 2008 film Deshdrohi.

He gained wider recognition after appearing on Bigg Boss Season 3 in 2009. Later, he played a supporting role in Ek Villain (2014). Over time, KRK became more famous as a self-styled film critic than as an actor.

Today, he has a large following on YouTube and X, where his sharp reviews and controversial remarks about celebrities often spark heated debates. These opinions have also made him one of the most polarising figures in Bollywood’s digital space.

Sheikh Hasina Calls Muhammad Yunus a ‘Murderous Fascist’ in First Public Address After Exile

Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in her first public address since going into exile, launched a sharp attack on Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus, calling him a “murderous fascist” and accusing the interim administration of pushing Bangladesh into chaos.

Sheikh Hasina Calls Muhammad Yunus a ‘Murderous Fascist’

Addressing a gathering via an audio message from India, Hasina alleged that Bangladesh is currently being ruled through violence, fear and unconstitutional means. Her speech was delivered during an event titled “Save Democracy in Bangladesh” held in New Delhi.

Strong Allegations Against Interim Government

Sheikh Hasina accused Yunus of leading an illegal regime, claiming that democratic institutions have been dismantled and law and order has collapsed across the country. She alleged that political violence, attacks on minorities and suppression of dissent have increased under the interim setup.

According to Hasina, Bangladesh is witnessing targeted attacks, arrests of political opponents and intimidation of journalists, which she said reflects a “fascist mindset” rather than democratic governance.

Call to Restore Democracy

Invoking the legacy of the 1971 Liberation War, Hasina urged pro-democracy and pro-liberation forces to unite and resist what she described as an unconstitutional takeover of power. She appealed for the restoration of the Constitution and demanded conditions for free and fair elections.

The former prime minister also raised concerns about the safety of women, minorities and vulnerable communities, alleging that their rights are being systematically violated.

Political Context in Bangladesh

Sheikh Hasina was removed from power amid political unrest, after which an interim government led by Muhammad Yunus took charge. The political situation in Bangladesh remains tense as the country prepares for its first national elections since Hasina’s ouster.

The Yunus-led administration has maintained that it is committed to democratic reforms and fair elections, while Hasina and her supporters continue to challenge its legitimacy.

International Implications

Hasina’s remarks are expected to deepen political polarisation within Bangladesh and draw international attention to the evolving crisis. With regional stakeholders closely monitoring developments, the situation has significant implications for South Asian stability and democratic norms.

Bhagwant Mann Govt Implements Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, Ensures Cashless Treatment up to ₹10 Lakh for Every Family

Punjab News

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government has implemented the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, a landmark and path-breaking healthcare initiative that ensures every resident of the state has access to quality medical treatment without financial hardship. The scheme provides cashless medical treatment of up to ₹10 lakh per family per year and is widely regarded as one of the most comprehensive and universal healthcare programmes in the country.

With this initiative, Punjab has set a new national benchmark by offering universal health coverage without any income limit or exclusion, a feature unmatched by any other health insurance scheme currently operational anywhere in India.

What is Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna

Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna is a universal health insurance scheme introduced by the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab Government to provide free and cashless medical treatment to families across the state through empanelled government and private hospitals. Under the scheme, all treatment expenses are settled directly between hospitals and the implementing agencies, ensuring that patients do not have to make any out-of-pocket payments.

Eligibility Under the Scheme

The scheme applies to all bona fide residents of Punjab and has been made fully universal by removing all income and category-based restrictions. Families with a valid Punjab Voter ID are eligible for enrolment, while children below the age of 18 are covered through the Voter ID of their parent or guardian. Government employees, pensioners, and individuals engaged on contractual, outsourcing, or consultancy basis under Punjab Government departments, corporations, trusts, and societies are also eligible. There is no income limit under the scheme.

Coverage and Beneficiaries

Under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, health cards will be issued to approximately 65 lakh families, covering nearly three crore citizens across Punjab. Each eligible family is entitled to cashless medical treatment of up to ₹10 lakh per year. The earlier coverage limit of ₹5 lakh has been doubled, significantly strengthening health protection and financial security for families.

Issuance of Health Cards

Health cards under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna serve as the key access document for availing cashless treatment. These cards can be obtained through facilitation centres, Common Service Centres, or online registration using Aadhaar Card and Punjab Voter ID. To ensure maximum enrolment, trained youth club members will also assist families through door-to-door outreach across the state.

Medical Treatments and Services Covered

More than 2,300 treatment packages have been included under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, covering secondary and tertiary healthcare services across a wide range of medical specialties such as orthopedics, general medicine, cardiology, neurology, nephrology, urology, and oncology. The scheme includes major treatments such as heart procedures, cancer treatment, kidney dialysis and transplant, brain and spine surgeries, knee and hip replacement, cataract surgery, maternity and newborn care, accident and emergency services, ICU care, as well as pre-hospitalisation and post-hospitalisation services. Diagnostic services related to treatment are also covered.

Hospitals Empanelled Under the Scheme

Under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, cashless healthcare services are being provided to beneficiaries through a robust and extensive network of empanelled hospitals spanning government institutions, private hospitals, public–private partnership facilities, and medical colleges across Punjab. As of date, a total of 823 hospitals have been empanelled under the scheme, ensuring wide geographical coverage as well as access to medical college-level care throughout the state. This network includes four government medical colleges, four private medical colleges, and one medical college operating in public–private partnership mode. In addition, 23 district hospitals, 41 sub-divisional hospitals, and 151 community health centres have been brought under the scheme, strengthening access to healthcare at the district and sub-district levels.

The private sector forms a significant component of the network, with 559 private hospitals empanelled under MMSY. Major private hospitals included under the scheme are PIMS Medical and Education Charitable Society, Jalandhar; Adesh Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Bathinda; Chintpurni Medical College and Hospital, Pathankot; RIMT Medical College and Hospital, Fatehgarh Sahib; Gian Sagar Medical College, Patiala; Neelam Hospital, Patiala; Shri Guru Ram Dass Charitable Hospital, Amritsar; Capitol Hospital, Jalandhar; Sohana Hospital, SAS Nagar; and Amar Hospital, SAS Nagar. The Punjab Government will continue to expand the empanelled hospital network to further strengthen access to cashless treatment across the state.

Where Treatment Can Be Availed

Beneficiaries can avail cashless treatment at any empanelled government or private hospital across Punjab. Empanelled hospitals located in Chandigarh are also included, allowing beneficiaries access to treatment beyond the state where required.

How Cashless Treatment Works

To avail treatment, beneficiaries are required to present their Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna health card at the empanelled hospital. Treatment is provided without any payment by the patient. After completion of treatment, the hospital submits the claim for reimbursement, and payment is released within fifteen days. The Punjab Government has already paid the advance premium to the insurance company to ensure uninterrupted services.

Implementation and Financial Provision

The scheme is being implemented through a hybrid model. Insurance coverage of ₹1 lakh per family is provided by United India Insurance Company, while the remaining coverage up to ₹10 lakh is borne by the Punjab Government through the State Health Agency. A budgetary provision of ₹1,200 crore has been made to ensure smooth and sustained implementation.

Objective of Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna

The Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna reflects the Bhagwant Singh Mann Government’s commitment to ensuring that no citizen of Punjab is forced to delay or forgo medical treatment due to financial constraints. By offering universal, cashless healthcare without discrimination, the scheme positions Punjab as a national leader in public healthcare reform.

For further information and enrolment assistance, citizens may contact their nearest Common Service Centre or government health facility.

Neem Benefits: Doctor Shares How This Ancient Leaf Works Wonders For Skin, Liver, Immunity And More – Check Video!

Neem Benefits Beyond Skin

Neem Benefits: Neem has been a part of Indian homes for centuries. Yet, most people still see it as just a skin remedy. According to Delhi-based doctor Salim Zaidi, that thinking barely scratches the surface.

In a recent video shared on his YouTube channel Healthy Hamesha, Dr Zaidi explained how neem is one of the most underestimated herbs in daily health care. He pointed out that from Ayurveda to modern science, neem is considered a broad-spectrum medicinal plant. In simple terms, one bitter leaf can support the skin, liver, immunity, blood sugar balance and even help fight infections.

Dr Zaidi, who has been practising for over 20 years, said people often rush to creams, antibiotics, or chemical solutions for everyday problems. However, neem works differently. It supports the body from within and helps fix issues at the root.

Neem Benefits For Skin And Everyday Infections

In Ayurveda, neem is known as Nimba. Ancient texts like the Charak Samhita describe it as a powerful herb that kills microbes and treats skin disorders. Modern research backs this claim too.

Neem extract has been shown to fight acne-causing bacteria, fungi, and even some viruses. This is why neem helps with pimples, rashes, itching and skin allergies. Instead of just drying out the skin like many products do, neem targets the cause of the problem. This reduces the chances of acne or infections coming back.

Neem also helps with dandruff and minor cuts. When used regularly, it supports faster healing and calmer skin. This is one reason neem is still widely used in soaps, face packs and hair oils.

Neem Benefits Beyond Skin: Liver, Immunity And Blood Sugar

What many people miss is that neem’s benefits go far beyond the skin. Dr Zaidi explained that joint pain, swelling, and redness are often linked to internal inflammation. Neem helps reduce inflammation markers in the body. This may offer relief in arthritis and chronic inflammatory conditions.

Neem also plays a role in blood sugar control. Ayurveda places diabetes under Prameha, and neem has long been used as a supportive herb. Studies suggest neem can help lower fasting blood sugar levels and improve glucose tolerance when used correctly.

Another key benefit is liver support. Neem helps the body clear waste and reduces liver stress caused by oily food, chemicals, or alcohol. It also helps stabilise liver enzymes and supports overall digestion.

Neem has also been used for oral health for thousands of years. Chewing neem sticks reduces mouth bacteria, strengthens gums, and helps with mouth ulcers and bad breath. It even supports gut health by controlling harmful bacteria and easing bloating.

How To Use Neem Safely

Neem can be used in different forms. Fresh leaves can be eaten in small amounts. Neem powder or capsules are also options for those who cannot tolerate the bitter taste. Neem oil should only be used externally for the scalp, acne, or fungal infections.

Dr Zaidi stressed that neem is a supportive herb, not a replacement for prescribed medicines. When used correctly and in moderation, neem can improve skin health, immunity, digestion, liver function and overall well-being.

Sometimes, the simplest remedies are the most powerful. Neem is one such example.

CM Yogi Adityanath

Lucknow and its surrounding regions are set to witness a major transformation in religious and tourism infrastructure as the Uttar Pradesh government under CM Yogi Adityanath plans to upgrade 14 major faith and tourist destinations with five-star level facilities. The initiative aims to position Uttar Pradesh as a global model for faith-based tourism, combining spiritual heritage with world-class infrastructure.

CM Yogi Adityanath Pushes Global-Scale Faith Tourism

According to the draft report of the Uttar Pradesh State Capital Region (UPSCR), these sites—spread across six districts including Lucknow, Barabanki, Sitapur, Unnao, Rae Bareli and Hardoi—will be developed in the first phase. The focus will be on improved connectivity, modern amenities, seamless public transport access and enhanced visitor experience.

Strong focus on connectivity and infrastructure

Under the proposed plan, all selected religious and tourist sites will be directly connected to major roads, with access to metro services, UPSRTC buses and other public transport systems. Authorities have stressed that infrastructure development will go hand in hand with preserving the cultural and historical character of these destinations.

The project also envisions landscaped public spaces, upgraded facilities for devotees and tourists, better crowd management systems, and eco-friendly development models. The idea is to ensure comfort while maintaining the sanctity of religious places.

Lucknow heritage sites lead the transformation

The report highlights that four major heritage sites in LucknowResidency Buildings, Rumi Darwaza, Bara Imambara and La Martiniere College—are already in comparatively strong condition and will serve as flagship destinations under the new tourism model. These landmarks are expected to attract both domestic and international visitors once upgraded with premium facilities.

134 religious and tourist sites identified in SCR region

A total of 134 religious and tourist properties have been identified across the SCR region. Of these, 14 sites have been marked as primary, 51 as secondary, and 69 as tertiary destinations. The primary 14 sites will be developed on a five-star model, aimed at showcasing Uttar Pradesh’s spiritual and cultural richness on an international platform.

Key sites in the first phase include Deva Sharif in Barabanki, Shaheed Chandra Shekhar Azad Bird Sanctuary in Unnao, Chakratirth, Lalita Devi Temple, Hanuman Garhi and Vyas Gaddi in Sitapur, along with Pandav Kila, Raj Ghat, Dashashwamedh Ghat, Sandi Bird Sanctuary in Hardoi, and Samaspur Bird Sanctuary in Rae Bareli.

Sitapur and Hardoi need major upgrades

While Lucknow’s sites are relatively well-developed, the report points out that several religious locations in Sitapur and Hardoi currently lack basic infrastructure and are rated at a lower level. These areas will receive focused attention to bridge the gap and bring them up to national and international tourism standards.

Vision of a “New Uttar Pradesh”

The initiative reflects the Yogi Adityanath government’s broader vision of “faith with development”, where religious tourism becomes a driver of economic growth, employment generation and regional development. Officials believe the project will significantly boost tourism, strengthen local economies and enhance Uttar Pradesh’s image as a modern yet culturally rooted state.

O Romeo is led by Shahid Kapoor and marks his fourth collaboration with Vishal Bhardwaj. The actor plays Hussain Ustara, also known as Ustara, a feared hitman whose carefully controlled life begins to fall apart when love enters the picture.

As per multiple media reports, Shahid Kapoor has allegedly been paid around Rs 45 crore for the film. This makes him the highest-paid actor in the project by a clear margin.

O Romeo Cast Fees: Shahid Kapoor And Triptii Dimri’s Reported Pay Gap

Triptii Dimri plays Sapna Didi (also known as Afsha) and is said to be the emotional heart of O Romeo. Her character is shown as an innocent woman who gets drawn into a dangerous world filled with crime, love and revenge. Reports suggest that Triptii earned around Rs 6 crore for the role.

This means Shahid Kapoor’s pay cheque is nearly 7.5 times higher than that of his co-star. While such pay differences are common in large Bollywood productions, the figures have still sparked online discussion. This is especially because Triptii’s character plays a key role in driving the film’s story.

Avinash Tiwary, who plays the antagonist Jalal, is reportedly paid about Rs 7 crore. His character is expected to raise the stakes and push Ustara deeper into conflict.

Tamannaah Bhatia Is The Highest Paid Actress

Tamannaah Bhatia is reportedly the highest-paid female actor in O Romeo. She plays Rabia, a character whose details have been kept tightly under wraps. The trailer does not show her scenes or dialogue. As per reports, Tamannaah has charged approximately Rs 7 crore for the film.

Disha Patani appears in the film as Julie (a dancer) and is rumoured to have received Rs 2 crore. Veteran actor Nana Patekar plays Ismail Khan and has reportedly charged Rs 4 crore.

About O’Romeo

Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, O Romeo is a gritty underworld drama inspired by true events and a chapter from Hussain Zaidi’s book Mafia Queens of Mumbai. Set in post-independence Mumbai, the film looks at the rise of organised crime and violent power struggles.

The story follows Hussain Ustara and Sapna Didi, whose lives collide in a dangerous game of love and revenge. With a reported budget of around Rs 150 crore, O Romeo is being positioned as a major Valentine’s Day release in 2026. The film also stars Nana Patekar, Avinash Tiwary, Tamannaah Bhatia, Disha Patani and Vikrant Massey.

CM Yogi Adityanath: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s government is all set to launch a massive recruitment push in 2026 ahead of the UP Assembly Elections in 2027.

Interestingly, the 2024 Lok Sabha elections saw unemployment as a huge political issue. It is because of this reason that the UP government now wants to re-engage with young voters before the state goes to assembly poll next year.

Recruitments Through Key Commissions

The Uttar Pradesh government has already initiated a series of steps to issue fresh advertisements for recruiting close to 1.5 lakh new employees through the UP Education Service Selection Commission, the UP Public Service Commission (UPPSC), the UP Police Recruitment and Promotion Board and the UP Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC).

It is believed that the highest number of vacancies would be in the education and police departments.

CM Yogi Adityanath Chairs High-Level Review Meeting

A high-level recruitment meeting was held by CM Yogi Adityanath. All government departments have been asked to immediately send vacant post requisitions. The government would issue advertisements for approximately 1.5 lakh new posts and complete 20,000 pending recruitments.

In the last 8 years, 8.5 lakh youths have received government jobs. During the Yogi administration, education and police sectors alone accounted for more than 2.19 lakh recruitments in the state of Uttar Pradesh.

Deadline Set

The UP CM has set a deadline of June 2026 for the recruitments. Furthermore, efforts are also being made to speed up the application as well as examination processes.

The UP government is likely to consider more recruitment after the 2026 panchayat election results.

Political analyst Rajendra Kumar remarked unemployment in the state of UP has become a big politically sensitive issue. Kumar added the regime’s credibility is directly impacted if the young population feels opportunities are shrinking.

Recently, the UP recruitment announced the hiring of more than 41,000 home guards in 2026 alone and nearly 8,000 lekhpal posts.
