The Bhagwant Mann arrested 63 suspected drug smugglers and seized 27.2 kg of heroin as part of its ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking across the state.
The operation was carried out under the Punjab Police’s #YudhNashianVirudh campaign, with the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) continuing efforts to disrupt drug supply networks.
Bhagwant Mann: Heroin, Poppy Husk and Intoxicant Pills Seized
According to the Punjab Police, the arrests resulted in the recovery of 27.2 kg of heroin, 10 kg of poppy husk and 81 intoxicant pills.
Police also recovered ₹8,500 in suspected drug money from those arrested during the operations.
The seizures form part of the force’s continued action against individuals allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade and efforts to curb the availability of narcotics in Punjab.
Eight People Counselled for Rehabilitation
Alongside enforcement action, the Punjab Police said that eight individuals were counselled and persuaded to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment.
The initiative combines action against drug trafficking with efforts to encourage people struggling with substance use to seek treatment and rehabilitation.
The Punjab Police said its anti-drug campaign will continue as part of sustained efforts to tackle the state’s drug networks.
