In a welcome move for commuters in Delhi and its neighboring regions, the prices of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) have been reduced, providing relief to the pockets of the common people. Effective from tomorrow morning, the new rates will bring down the cost of CNG by Rs 2.5 per kilogram across various cities including Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, Rewari, Karnal, and Kaithal.
New CNG Rates in Delhi and Surrounding Areas
In Delhi, the price of one kilogram of CNG now stands at Rs 74.09, down from Rs 76.59. Similarly, in Noida, the price has decreased to Rs 78.70 from Rs 81.20, while in Gurugram, it’s now Rs 80.12 compared to the earlier Rs 82.62. Rewari and Karnal have also witnessed reductions, with the current rates at Rs 78.70 and Rs 80.43 respectively.
CNG Price Cut Extends to Mumbai
Following suit, Mahanagar Gas Limited, the local government company in Mumbai, has also slashed CNG prices by Rs 2.5 per kilogram. This move has been swiftly implemented, enabling residents of Mumbai and nearby areas to avail CNG at reduced rates. The current price in Mumbai is ₹73.50 per kg (previously ₹76).
Comparison with Petrol and Diesel
In addition to the immediate benefits for consumers, the reduction in CNG prices also presents a compelling cost comparison with traditional fuels. Mumbaikars can now save 53 percent compared to petrol and 22 percent compared to diesel, as per the calculations by the company. This significant price gap is expected to drive greater adoption of CNG, promoting the usage of natural gas for transportation needs.
