Among the major approvals, the Cabinet gave its nod to amendments in the Punjab Goods and Services Tax (GST) Act, 2025. This move is expected to simplify tax compliance for businesses and enhance state revenue collection. Additionally, the Cabinet approved amendments to the Punjab Apartment and Property Regulation Act, 1995, ensuring greater transparency and accountability in the state’s real estate sector.

This step will help in expediting trials related to national security

To bolster the justice system, the government also approved the establishment of a special NIA court in Mohali. This step will help in expediting trials related to national security and terror-related cases, thereby strengthening law and order in Punjab.

In a relief to sheller owners, the Cabinet approved an OTS (One-Time Settlement) scheme, aimed at addressing their financial challenges and providing a viable solution to pending disputes. Similarly, the Cabinet agreed to necessary changes in the Punjab Right to Business Act, with the goal of creating a more business-friendly environment for entrepreneurs and industries.

Another significant decision was the approval of amendments to the Punjab Village Common Land (Regulation Rules). This reform is expected to ensure better utilization and management of village common lands, ultimately benefiting rural communities.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann stated that these reforms reflect the state government’s commitment to strengthening Punjab’s economy, promoting transparency, and empowering people at the grassroots level.
