American Olympic Champion Tori Bowie Passes Away at 32, World Mourns Loss of Track and Field Star

Tori Bowie: Tori Bowie, a former world champion in the 100-meter race, passed away on Wednesday at the age of 32, according to her management organisation. The American earned three Olympic medals in the Rio Games in 2016 and was crowned world champion in 2017.

Cause of Death is not cleared

Bowie, who also took home gold in the 4x100m relay and bronze in the 200m at the Rio Olympics, was discovered dead at her house, according to Florida police. It was not immediately clear what caused the death. According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office in Florida, deputies were performing a well-being check when they discovered the woman, “tentatively identified as Frentorish ‘Tori’ Bowie,” dead in a residence.

Only American woman to have captured an Olympic

Bowie won four gold medals at the 2016 Rio Olympics in the 4×100-meter relay, 100-meter silver, and 200-meter bronze. She won both the 100-meter and relay gold medals at the World Championships in London the following year. Bowie, a native of Sandhill, Mississippi, last competed on the international stage in the 2019 Doha World Championships, where she placed fourth in the long jump. Since Carmelita Jeter in 2011, she was the only American woman to have captured an Olympic or world 100m title.
