Asian Games 2023: It is a new dawn in Indian cricket and we are ready for it. That is exactly why BCCI announced a very young squad for the Asian Games 2023. First of all, sending a secondary team to Asian Games at the time of the World Cup was a great decision.
It would have given the neglected and young players much-needed exposure at a great platform. And that is exactly what the selectors did. Most of the best performers in IPL will get the chance in the T20 tournament with Ruturaj Gaikwad leading the charge.
On the other hand, the selection committee named their strongest women’s squad for the tournament. Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the side with Smriti Mandhana being the deputy captain even after her bad form.
A Young Squad For Asian Games 2023
BCCI rewarded the young guys for their continuous good performances and they might have silenced all the critics with this announcement now. Rinku Singh and Yashasvi Jaiswal are the most prominent names included in the squad.
Arshdeep Singh, Shivam Mavi, Shivam Dube, Prabhsimran Singh also got their chance to shine alongside Jitesh Sharma, Washington Sundar, Rahul Tripathi, Tilak Varma, Shahbaz Ahmed, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan, and Mukesh Verma.
These players might get chance in Asian Games but it also means that they are not in BCCI World Cup plans. That might be a bummer for most fans but these players have gotten their chance to shine now.
Strongest Women Squad
India has named their strongest 20 women squad for Asian Games 2023. This is the first time that India will participate in the competiion and they would like to win this at all cost. After all, Pakistan is the defending champion.
Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the side with Smriti Mandhana as the vice captain. India last participated in Commonwealth Games 2022 as multi game tournament. They won silver after losing to Australia in finals.
