BCCI: Indian Cricket team to undergo a big change? Board receives 207 applications for the post of national selector

BCCI: Following the T20 World Cup 2022, the BCCI (Board of Cricket Control in India) had sacked Chetan Sharma and the entire senior selection committee on November 18. India also lost the World Test Championships final and failed to go past the group stage of the 2021 T20 World Cup with Chetan’s selection choices.

Selectors serve a four-year term

Chetan (North Zone), Harvinder Singh (Centra Zone), Sunil Joshi (South Zone), and Debasish Mohanty (East Zone) have served as senior national selectors for the shortest periods of time recently. Several of them received appointments in in 2020 and 2021.

Senior national selectors typically serve four-year terms that can be extended. However, after Abbey Kuruvilla’s term was over, there was no selection for the West Zone. On that day, the BCCI issued a call for candidates to fill the job of national selector (Senior Men).

BCCI receives 207 applications for selection committee

The National Selection Committee received a total of 207 applications, according to the most recent report from BCCI.

A candidate must have retired from the sport at least five years ago in order to meet the qualifying requirements. Men’s Selection Committee membership is not open to anyone who has served on a Cricket Committee for more than five years in a row (as determined by BCCI rules and regulations). Every prospective applicant had till November 28th to submit their application for the aforementioned post.
