CSK vs KKR IPL 2023: Eden Gardens witnessed an explosive display of batting following a powerful opening by Rituraj Gaikwad and Devon Conway. Ajinkya Rahane, who is currently playing for the Chennai Super Kings, made the most of his time at the crease against the Kolkata Knight Riders. He even managed to scoop Umesh Yadav’s delivery for a six-to-square leg. Additionally, Shivam Dube joined the action and together they formed a half-century partnership in just 16 balls.
Blistering half-century partnership
CSK openers Rituraj Gaikwad and Devon Conway dominated the KKR bowlers during the power play, accumulating 60 runs in the first six overs. However, Suyyash Sharma claimed KKR’s first wicket in the eighth over, dismissing Gaikwad after he had scored 35 runs in 20 balls, including 2 fours and 3 sixes. Meanwhile, Conway continued his impressive form in this year’s IPL by scoring his fourth consecutive fifty in just 34 balls. However, he was caught by Varun Chakraborty off his own bowling.
Suyash Sharma had an LBW appeal against CSK’s Ajinkya Rahane, but after review by the DRS, the umpire’s call was upheld, leaving Rahane still at the crease. In the 13th over, Varun Chakraborty claimed the wicket of Conway on the very first ball, ending his innings at 56 runs off 40 balls, which included 4 fours and 3 sixes. This also ended his partnership with Ajinkya, which had added 38 runs to the scoreboard. However, Shivam Dubey smashed two consecutive sixes in the same over, keeping the momentum going. Then in the following over, Ajinkya hit Umesh Yadav’s first three balls for 6, 6, 4. He executed an incredible scoop shot in that over, leaving Umesh with a total of 22 runs scored against him.
