IND vs AUS: During the second one-day international of the three-match series at Indore’s Holkar Stadium, David Warner surprised everyone by adopting a right-handed stance against Ravichandran Ashwin in the 13th over of the Australian innings. Warner proceeded to achieve his fifty in only 38 deliveries, featuring 7 boundaries and one six. However, his new style ended up in a dismissal.

David Warner’s new style

During the second ODI between India and Australia at Indore’s Holkar Stadium, left-handed opener David Warner made a rare move in international cricket by switching to a right-handed batting stance against India’s off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin in the 13th over. This unconventional decision was prompted by rain interruptions, which reduced Australia’s target to 317 runs from 33 overs after they were 56 for 2 before the break, chasing India’s 399 for 5.

In a bid to accelerate the scoring rate, Warner opted to bat right-handed, and he found some success, striking a boundary off the third delivery. However, Ashwin had the final say when he trapped Warner LBW for 53 off 39 balls after the batsman attempted a reverse-sweep while batting right-handed. Ashwin also dismissed Marnus Labuschagne (27) and Josh Inglis (6), leaving Australia struggling at 101 for 5 in 14.5 overs, with the visitors requiring 216 more runs from 19.1 overs.
