IPL Viral Video: In the IPL 2023 match between Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians, Rashid Khan showcased a remarkable individual performance. Despite Gujarat Titans ultimately losing by 27 runs, Rashid Khan’s breathtaking assault significantly narrowed the margin of defeat. His unbeaten innings of 79 runs off just 32 balls was truly remarkable.
Rashid Khan turns into batter
Rashid’s explosive hitting at the No.8 position was a display of uninhibited power, showcasing little concern for the lack of support from his teammates. To provide context, only three out of the remaining nine batsmen from the Titans managed to reach double digits during their pursuit of a target of 219 runs. The ninth-wicket partnership, featuring Rashid and No.10 batsman Alzarri Joseph, remained unbeaten with a remarkable contribution of 88 runs off just 40 deliveries.
Unfortunately, the Titans struggled to find their momentum throughout the chase, losing wickets early on and finding themselves at 55-5 after 7.1 overs. David Miller provided a brief surge of runs with his quickfire innings of 41 runs off 26 balls, but his dismissal in the 12th over brought Rashid to the crease. However, Rashid received minimal support as both Rahul Tewatia and Noor Ahmad were dismissed shortly after their arrival.
Refusing to surrender, Rashid emerged as the last glimmer of hope for his team. With sheer determination, he launched an incredible display of power-hitting, smashing ten sixes. This feat is a rarity in IPL history, as non-century knocks with 10 or more sixes have occurred only four times, with none exceeding 11. Remarkably, over 91 per cent of Rashid’s runs came from boundaries, highlighting his dominant performance. Among the other Gujarat Titans batters, David Miller was the sole player to hit two sixes.
However, despite Rashid’s heroic efforts, his solo assault was destined to fall short. When he arrived at the crease, the required run rate was already a daunting 14.87 runs per over. As the innings progressed, the situation only worsened. By the conclusion of the 18th over, the Gujarat Titans needed 55 runs for victory.
