New Zealand struggles with batting
Root played aggressively from the start, helping England to achieve a big score. One of his shots in particular caught everyone’s attention, as it resembled the famous “Dil Scoop” shot by retired Sri Lankan player Tillakaratne Dilshan. Root’s shot was reminiscent of Dilshan’s signature move, which few players attempt after his retirement. His shot drew comparisons to Dilshan and reminded fans of the Sri Lankan legend.
England’s commanding lead puts New Zealand at risk of follow-on
At present, England looks to be in a commanding position in the second test, having played a great game so far in the series. New Zealand trails England’s score by 297 runs, putting them at risk of a follow-on.
