After the announcement of the fixtures, Punjab Sports Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer and Kerala MP Shashi Tharoor blamed politics and BCCI for not granting any matches to Punjab and Kerala for the upcoming world cup.

The World Cup is all set to kick off on October 5, 2023. The biggest festival of cricket will be played in 10 different stadiums in India. So, it was quite shocking to see when Mohali and Greenfield’s stadiums were excluded from the plans.

Punjab’s Sports Minister released a video condemning the decision not to give Mohali any matches for the World Cup. On the other hand, Kerala CM Shashi Tharoor was disappointed that Greenfield International Stadium did not get any match.

World Cup 2023:Punjab Minister Angry

In a video from Punjab DIPR, Punjab Sports Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer was angry and blamed politics because Mohali was not getting any matches for World Cup 2023. He further stated that they would appeal to BCCI for the matter.

The Sports Minister stated that “Narendra Modi Stadium is hosting the opening game, the Final, and also India and Pakistan. The neighboring Dharamsala is hosting five games, but Punjab has not even got one. That makes it clear that politics is being played”.
