Delhi-Meerut RRTS: 82 Km Journey in 55 minutes! Full Corridor to Get Operational by June 2025, Trial Run Underway

Delhi-Meerut RRTS: After completion of trial runs and entire corridor become operational total distance of 82 Km can be covered in 55 minutes. It will maker journey easier and faster for travelers between Delhi and Meerut and also within Meerut city.

Delhi-Meerut RRTS: The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has begun trial runs between Shatabdi Nagar and Modipuram in Meerut and  between New Ashok Nagar and Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to complete the entire 82km Delhi-Meerut corridor. Once the entire route become operational, it will reduce the travel time between Meerut and Delhi to 55 minutes.


Current Operational Stations of Delhi-Meerut RRTS


Delhi-Meerut RRTS aims to connect Delhi, Ghaziabad and Meerut through high-speed trains. Currently, 11 stations including two in Delhi, eight in Ghaziabad, and one in Meerut of 55-km distance between New Ashok Nagar and Meerut (South) are operational. The current stations are New Ashok Nagar, Anand Vihar, Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, Duhai Depot, Muradnagar, Modi Nagar South, Modi Nagar North, and Meerut South. The NCRTC has made the corridor operational in many phases: 
•    Sahibabad to Duhai on 23 October 2023
•    Duhai to Modinagar on 6 March 2024
•    Modinagar (North) to Meerut (South) on 18 August 2024 and 
•    Sahibabad to New Ashok Nagar (13km) on 5 January this year.

Total Stations after Completion of Entire Delhi-Meerut RRTS

The 82-kilometre Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor comprises 24 stations. The stations are:
•    Delhi: Jangpura, Sarai Kale Khan, New Ashok Nagar, and Anand Vihar
•    Ghaziabad: Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai (EPE), Murad Nagar, Modi Nagar South, Modi Nagar North
•    Meerut: Meerut South, Partapur, Rithani, Shatabdi Nagar, Brahmapuri, Meerut Central, Bhaisali, Begum Pul, MES Colony, Daurli, Meerut North, Modipuram and Modipuram Depot


Introduction of Local Metro Trains on Delhi-Meerut RRTS Corridor


The Meerut part has distance of 23 km and it covers 13 stations. This part includes a five-km underground section and will host both six-coach RRTS and three-coach local metro trains. Six-coach RRTS will only cover four stations; Meerut (South), Shatabdi Nagar, Begumpul, and Modipuram but the entire distance will be covered by three-coach local metro trains. This will stop at 13 stations, including Partapur, Rithani, Bhrampuri, Meerut (Central), Bhaisali, MES Colony, Daurli, Meerut (North), and Modipuram Depot. Three-coach local metro train will be there to serve short-distance travel in Meerut city. RRTS and local metro, both will use same tracks, with the local metro catering exclusively to intra-city travel within Meerut.


Sarai Kale Khan Station on Delhi-Meerut RRTS: Major Transit Hub


Sarai Kale Khan Station will work as a major transit hub like Anand Vihar Station integrating various modes of transportation; Delhi Metro, Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station, Veer Haqiqat Rai ISBT. The station will provide seamless connectivity. The station's design will facilitate easy transfers between these transport modes, enhancing passengers’ convenience and experience. 

After completion of full Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor, the travel journey from Delhi to Meerut and other stations will be easier and time saving. Travelling within Meerut city will also be convenient due to introduction of local metro.
