Delhi NCR Pollution: As winter comes, towns in the Delhi NCR are dealing with a problem that they have seen before: smog. People in Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, and Ghaziabad woke up to hazy skies, less clear vision, and a clear drop in the air quality index (AQI). There are more worries than ever that smog levels could rise to dangerous levels again, affecting health and daily life, with Diwali coming up soon.

Smog and AQI Levels Drop in the NCR

A few days ago, the AQI in Delhi NCR dropped below the “good” level. Experts say it’s a mix of things, including pollution from cars and factories, burning hay in nearby states, and weather conditions that keep pollutants close to the ground. Residents say it’s hard to breathe, their eyes hurt, and they don’t go outside as much, especially in the early morning and late evening.

Why is there more pollution before Diwali

In the past, the days before Diwali have always seen a big rise in smog. When fireworks are used in places where the air quality is already bad, they often make it “very poor” or even “severe.” Environmentalists say that this year could be especially bad if precautions aren’t taken, since the weather is supposed to be calm, which will let pollutants build up.

Advice and Warnings for Health

Doctors and other health professionals are telling people, especially kids, the elderly, and people with breathing problems, to spend less time outside. People should wear N95 masks, use air purifiers inside, and stay indoors when they can’t do anything hard. To keep things from getting worse, the government is telling people to use firecrackers less and follow pollution-control rules.

Steps and projects taken by the government

Authorities in Delhi NCR Pollution and the states around it have said they will be keeping a closer eye on smog from factories and cars. Steps to stop stump burning have been stepped up in nearby states, and traffic restrictions could be put in place temporarily if the AQI gets worse. These steps are meant to protect public health and cut down on the waste that comes from the holidays.
