As polling for the Haryana municipal election is underway, a shocking incident has sent ripples across the state. Himani Narwal, a 22-year-old Congress worker, was found dead, her body packed inside a suitcase. The gruesome discovery has created a political storm, with Congress demanding a thorough investigation into the matter. Meanwhile, the deceased’s mother and brother have also spoken out about her mysterious death, adding to the growing tension surrounding the case.

Himani Narwal’s Mother Alleges Political Motive Behind Murder

Speaking to ANI, Savita Narwal, mother of the deceased, expressed deep anguish and hinted at political rivalry as a possible reason behind her daughter’s death. "Election and party claimed my daughter's life. She made some enemies due to that. These (perpetrators) could be even from the party, they could be her friends too," she said.

Savita also revealed that Himani Narwal was at home on February 28 before the tragic incident. She added that her daughter was closely associated with Asha Hooda, wife of former Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda. "I will not perform my daughter's last rites until she gets justice," she declared.

She further stated that Himani had become disillusioned with politics after the election and wanted to secure a stable job. She had been actively involved with Congress for the past 10 years and was also pursuing an LL.B degree.

Haryana Police Investigates Himani Narwal Murder Case

SI Narender, the investigating officer, provided updates on the case, stating that forensic experts had been called to collect evidence.

"FSL team was called once the body was found, and they collected all the needed evidence from the site. The body was identified, and the postmortem will be done. The evidence that we have and the report that will come, we will take further action after corroborating both facts," he stated.

Congress Responds, Party Demands Impartial Probe

The official Congress handle addressed the tragic death of Himani Narwal, calling for justice.

"The brutal murder of Congress worker Himani Narwal in Rohtak, Haryana, is deeply saddening. We pray for her departed soul and stand with her family in this difficult time. There must be an impartial investigation, and the culprits should receive the harshest punishment."

Haryana Municipal Election 2024, Voting in Full Swing

While Haryana mourns the tragic loss of Himani Narwal, polling for the Haryana municipal election continues. Elections are being held for presidents and ward members in Ambala Sadar, Pataudi Jatoli Mandi, Thanesar, and Sirsa. Additionally, a bypoll is taking place in Sohna municipal council, Gurugram district.

Voters are also electing mayors and ward members across several municipal corporations, councils, and committees in Haryana. The polling process, which started at 8 AM, will continue until 6 PM. Meanwhile, elections for Panipat municipal corporation are scheduled for March 9, and vote counting for all elections will take place on March 12.
