Haryana News: Education Minister Drops Bombshell! Teacherless Nightmare For 298 State Govt Schools, Who’s To Blame?

Haryana News: Mahipal Dhanda, the education minister of Haryana, has acknowledged that 298 government schools in the state of Haryana were presently functioning without the presence of a permanent teacher while 1,051 Haryana government schools only had one permanent teacher.

Dhanda made these comments while replying to a written statement related to an unstarred question. The Haryana State Assembly was informed by the State’s Education Minister during that ongoing budget session of the state that 21.55 lakh students got enrolled in the state’s government schools during the academic session of the year 2025-26.

Replying to a question by Congress MLA Pooja representing the Mullana reserve assembly segment, the education department of Haryana furnished the information. The Congress MLA also enquired about the count of government schools in the state not having a permanent teacher or only a single permanent teacher as well as the existing ratio of teachers and students.

The Haryana’s Education Minister commented that the state government is taking steps such as periodic rationalization of teaching staff based on prescribed Teacher-Pupil Ratio (TPR) and enrollment for ensure equitable distribution of teachers.

The Education Minister’s reply suggested that the teacher-student ratio in the state is 18:1 in middle schools (Classes 6-8), 27:1 in primary schools (Classes 1-5), and 22:1 in secondary (Classes 9 and 10) and senior secondary classes (Classes 11 and 12).

It was also commented that the state government is engaging teachers via the Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam (HKRN) as and when required. This is done to make sure that academic activities are not severely impacted in schools facing temporary shortage of teachers in the state.

The Haryana’s Education Minister added that the state would soon initiate CM Shri Schools based on the lines of PM Shri Schools; these schools would follow the pattern of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
