Delhi, UP, Bihar, Punjab and Haryana
The weather in these states on December 20 would be extremely chill, sending shivers down the spine. The minimum temperature is likely to fall to 7 degree Celsius. Thick, intense fog is highly likely during early morning hours and late evening or night hours. Some parts of these states may witness mist or shallow fog during evening or night hours.
Weather Update December 20 2025-North India
Dense to very dense fog is likely to be witnessed across many regions in the northern states of the country.
Fog conditions are expected to persist for the next 2-3 days before normalizing. This can cause concerns over travel delays, train/bus/flight cancellations, road safety and reduced visibility. This alert comes at a time when the air quality index of Delhi NCR and adjoining areas has remained in the ‘very poor’ to ‘severe.’
Isolated parts in Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan may experience dense to very dense fog, especially during early morning, late evening or night hours. The states of Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh, West UP, North MP & Bihar may also experience similar weather conditions.
Other States
IMD added that a Western Disturbance is likely over Jammu and adjoining areas at 3.1 km above mean sea level. It also added that light to moderate rain is highly likely over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in the next few days. Moderate to thick fog is likely over north Chhattisgarh, north Jharkhand, and northeast Madhya Pradesh.
Light rainfall and snowfall are possible at many places over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad on December 20 and 21.
