Hooghly News: 4-Year-Old Girl Kidnapped, Sexually Exploited; Where’s WB Law and Order Headed ?

Hooghly-News

Hooghly News: Bengal suffers another horrifying incident in Hooghly district has triggered huge outrage after a four-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and sexually assaulted close to Tarakeswar railway station. The shocking case has caused political tensions and protests as a result of rival claims of police negligence and poor medical care.

Friday Night Horror? Is the child not even safe in Bengal?

Officials stated that the whole family was sleeping under a mosquito net after taking refuge at Tarakeswar railway station late Friday night, and the child was asleep next to her maternal grandmother when the accused came and cut through the mosquito net to take her away. The accused allegedly kidnapped the girl at 00:30.

Chaos broke out when the family awoke to find the child missing in the morning. Eventually, during the search, relatives found the girl around noon near the drain beside the railway station. She had blood coming from her genitalia and had been stripped of her clothing. She also showed bite marks on her face and other injuries.

“The child was asleep beside her grandmother when the accused cut through the net and took her. She was found near a drain, bleeding and traumatised. After hours of treatment, she continues to bleed from her genitalia,” stated Parna Adak, Secretary of the BJP.

Hospital Row and Police Negligence Alleged

Hooghly News: The injured child was taken to Tarakeswar Rural Hospital, where doctors examined her and provided first aid to her before treating her and sending the child home. The family and local BJP workers criticised the hospital for how it dealt with the case and for not informing the police immediately. “They sent her home even though she was still bleeding. How inhumane,” a family member said. The family alleged that when they attempted to notify local police, they initially brushed them off and told them to just go away.

However, the local BJP workers protested inside Tarakeswar Rural Hospital on Saturday about the alleged negligence, as members of the police were only acting in the best interest once public anger had spread throughout the district. Videos from inside the hospital at the time showed chaos as members of the public demanded justice and accountability for the child.

Political and Public Reactions

The incident has renewed discussion about the worsening law and order situation in West Bengal. Opposition leaders have criticized the state government, claiming it is not providing secure conditions for women and children.

For many, the question remains — how did this happen in the protective custody of law enforcement, and how many more calls for assistance remain unanswered?
