Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has announced major decisions regarding road connectivity in the state. In a high-level meeting with officials, he emphasized the need for seamless transportation and better connectivity, particularly in rural areas. The government has set a timeline to connect all settlements in the state with roads, ensuring smooth movement for citizens.
To achieve this goal, CM Yadav directed officials to conduct a scientific survey of road requirements in each district and prepare a comprehensive action plan. He stressed the importance of seeking inputs from legislators and panchayat representatives, as the government is committed to linking all settlements with roads within the next three years.
Road Repair and Technological Advancements
CM Yadav also highlighted the importance of repairing and upgrading roads damaged due to heavy rainfall, floods, and other factors. He instructed officials to ensure regular maintenance and monitoring of roads using mobile apps, geo-tagging, and artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
A traffic survey will be conducted on existing roads to determine the need for lane expansion and upgrades, prioritizing essential routes. Officials informed the Chief Minister that under the Pradhan Mantri Janman Yojana, the country’s first road from Pandatola to Bijatola has been constructed in the Paraswada region of Balaghat district.
Madhya Pradesh has also received the highest incentive from the Government of India for road maintenance and development. The state’s E-Marg portal, introduced in 2015-16 for road maintenance, has been nationally recognized. The central government has now implemented it across the country as the National E-Marg Portal.
Major Road Connectivity Expansion
The meeting also reviewed the progress of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). Out of the 89,000 rural settlements in the state, 50,658 have already been connected by roads. Surveys for 11,544 additional settlements under PMGSY-4 have been completed, and the state government is now working to connect the remaining 26,798 settlements.
The Samveg portal is being used to streamline road maintenance, cost estimation, and administrative approvals through an online system. These initiatives will ensure that Madhya Pradesh's road network continues to improve, providing better connectivity and boosting rural development.
