Railway Minister Ashvini Vaishnav on Friday Announced 4819 crore for doubling the rail line between Gondi and Ballarshah. He also announced that Maharashtra has received total 1.73 lakh crore of funds for different rail projects.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devender Fadnavis was also present at the press conference. He said that the state will receive a significant boost from this project as this will help transportation and trade in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra.. He also said that the state is now getting more money than during the UPA times. He also added that the government is shortly going to launch Mumbai-1 single card system.
How Important is Doubling of Gondi-Ballarshah Rail Line
Gondi-Ballarshah region of Maharashtra is very important for trade between north and south India. It falls in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. The doubling of Rail line will give Vidarbha great economic boost.
The project will include 240 KM of rail line between Gondi and Ballarshah. At expense of 4819 crore. It will be pivotal in the transportation of passengers and good.
The Rail Minister further added, “In the historic third time of PM Modi, several railway projects have been sanctioned for Maharashtra. Like Manmad- Indore line, Bhusawal- Khandwa line and now this line. Projects associated with Maharashtra, along with freight corridor, Bullet train and railway station development – a total of Rs 1 lakh 73 thousand, 804 crore have been sanctioned.”
What will be the key development areas under the project
The 4819 crore project will not only focus on doubling 240 of rail line. A major chunk of money will be spent on modernizing 29 railway stations. Other than this 36 major rail bridges, 338 minor bridges and 67 road under bridges will be constructed under the project.
Vaishnav also added that the project will focus not only on the mobility but also on the safety of passengers and trains.
What is Mumbai- 1 single card system
Mumbai 1-single card system will be a single card access to metro, monorails and locals for Mumbaikars. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devender Fadnavis, who was present at the conference said that they will soon a lunch Mumbai-1 single card system. He said it will be a key in connecting Mumbai Metropolitan region.
