Odisha Train Accident: A major train accident occurred on Sunday as 11 coaches of the Bangalore-Kamakhya AC Express derailed near the Cuttack-Nergundi Railway Section in Odisha. The incident took place around 11:54 AM, causing panic among passengers. Rescue and relief operations are in full swing, with multiple agencies, including the East Coast Railway (ECoR), fire services, and local police, at the site.
Odisha Train Accident - Conflicting Reports on Casualties and Injuries
According to ANI, no injuries or casualties have been reported so far. However, reports from The New Indian Express stated that one passenger has died, and at least eight people have suffered injuries.
Speaking on the derailment, ECoR Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Ashok Kumar Mishra said, "Initial reports suggest no injuries. However, a full assessment is underway. Accident Relief Trains (ARTs) and Medical Vans (ARMVs) were immediately dispatched."
Mishra also confirmed that emergency response teams from both central and state governments were informed. Senior railway officials, including the General Manager of ECoR, have reached the site to oversee relief efforts. A special train is being arranged to transport stranded passengers to their destinations.

Following the derailment, several trains have been rerouted to avoid disruptions. The affected services include:
