In a significant breakthrough, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police has dismantled a Pakistan-linked arms and narcotics network, acting swiftly on precise intelligence inputs. The operation led to the arrest of five individuals and the recovery of six sophisticated pistols—including five .30 bore weapons and one Glock 9mm—along with 1 kg 10 gm of heroin.
Accused Connected to Pakistan-Based Handlers
According to Punjab DGP’s update, the preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested accused were in direct contact with handlers based in Pakistan through social media channels and drone networks. These handlers allegedly coordinated the movement, delivery, and distribution of illegal weapons and narcotics across Punjab’s vulnerable border zones.
FIR Registered; Hunt for Handlers Intensifies
FIRs under the Arms Act and NDPS Act have been registered at PS Cheharta and PS Cantonment. Punjab Police officials confirmed that the investigation is ongoing to identify the remaining handlers, facilitators, and financial links involved in the cross-border smuggling racket. More arrests are expected as the probe widens.
Punjab Police Reaffirms Commitment to Public Safety
The DGP reiterated that Punjab Police remains firmly committed to disrupting cross-border smuggling networks and protecting public safety. With the Bhagwant Mann-led government prioritising strong border security and modernisation of the force, officers say that such decisive crackdowns will continue in the coming days.
