Uttarakhand enforces ‘Gangster Act’ against cow smugglers

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has shown strictness in view of increasing incidents of cow smuggling in the state.

He has ordered Director General of Police Ashok Kumar to take gangster action against cow smugglers. Attach the property of such criminals. Following the order of the Chief Minister, the DGP has issued orders to all the district in-charges of the state.

For this, two teams have been constituted by the police in Garhwal and Kumaon regions. The team takes immediate action on receiving complaints of cow smuggling. In 2022, a case has been registered by the police against 185 accused.

Guidelines have been issued to the district in-charges to act strictly against cow smugglers. Wherever complaints of cow smuggling are received, a joint operation should be conducted immediately after informing the Cow Protection Squad, so that the accused do not get a chance to escape.

Action was limited till the case was filed

Due to lack of strict action in the case of cow smuggling till now, the smugglers were fearlessly smuggling cows. Cow slaughter cases are also buried in the files in the police stations. Maximum cases of cow smuggling and cow slaughter are registered in Dehradun district. Many cases are registered against smugglers in Vasant Vihar and Patel Nagar police stations. Now due to the action of gangsters against such accused, there will be fear among the criminals.
