Uttarakhand News: The Uttarakhand government has taken swift action against SL Patrick, the Director of the Department of Geology and Mining in Dehradun, in light of serious allegations against him, including those related to a breach of confidentiality and misuse of authority.

Patrick stands accused of engaging in illicit financial transactions and offering inducements to a private individual, Mr. Om Prakash Tiwari, for government-related activities. Despite being confronted with evidence from WhatsApp chats implicating him in actions compromising governmental confidentiality and misusing his official position for personal gain, Patrick failed to offer a satisfactory explanation. His conduct, as the head of the department, is expected to adhere to the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and accountability, which he allegedly violated.

Additionally, Patrick is accused of deploying government vehicles and employing fourth-grade employees, both government-appointed and outsourced, for personal tasks, further demonstrating a misuse of government resources and authority.
Consequently, in response to the serious nature of these allegations and Patrick’s failure to uphold the duties and responsibilities of his position, the Uttarakhand government has taken immediate action to suspend him from his role as Director of the Department of Geology and Mining. This decision was made to safeguard the reputation and integrity of the department and the government as a whole.
