UP Budget Session: As Uttar Pradesh gears up for its BudgetSession 2025, the opposition, especially the Samajwadi Party, is leaving no stone unturned in cornering the Yogi government. There was speculation that Akhilesh Yadav’s party would target the government over the Maha Kumbh 2025 stampede.

However, a recent video is now going viral on the internet, showing Samajwadi Party MLA Atul Pradhan arriving at the assembly on Tuesday with chains tied around himself. He claimed that the United States has insulted Indians, referring to the deportation of Indian nationals from the US, which he described as an act of disrespect.

SP MLA Atul Pradhan Protests in Chains Over US Deportation of Indians

A video showing Samajwadi Party MLA Atul Pradhan making a dramatic protest at the UP Vidhan Sabha has gone viral on social media. Uploaded on X by a user named Sachin Gupta, the video shows Pradhan arriving at the Assembly with chains tied around himself. The protest is aimed at raising awareness about the treatment of Indians who were recently deported from the US.

In the video, Pradhan is heard saying, “I have been wearing these chains for one and a half hours, and it is already difficult for me to bear. Imagine how those Indians, who were sent back from the US, must have suffered wearing these chains.”

The Impact of US Deportations Under the Trump Administration

It is important to note that on February 16, 2025, a third plane carrying 112 Indians landed in India, as part of the ongoing deportations from the US. This deportation is part of a larger crackdown on illegal immigrants under the Donald Trump administration. It is the third deportation within a span of ten days.

The first deportation flight, carrying 104 Indians, landed on February 5, followed by a second flight with 116 deported individuals arriving in Amritsar on February 10. Under Trump’s strict stance on illegal immigration, such deportations have become frequent, prompting concern from Indian lawmakers.

SP MLA Atul Pradhan’s Discontent Ahead of UP Budget Session

As the UP Budget Session is set to begin, Atul Pradhan has expressed his disappointment over the deportation of Indians, criticising both the Yogi government and the Central Government for not taking stronger action against the mistreatment of these deported individuals. He called the deportation process inhumane and unfair, especially considering the suffering of those being sent back.
