Microsoft appoints Dee Templeton as a non-voting board observer at OpenAI, Details

According to Bloomberg, Templeton, an advisor to Microsoft CTO and EVP of AI Kevin Scott, has already started going to board meetings.

Microsoft: According to reports, Dee Templeton, a Microsoft executive, has become a non-voting observer on OpenAI’s board. The change is a part of OpenAI’s boardroom makeover, which was announced following Sam Altman’s reappointment as CEO.

Microsoft appoints Dee Templeton as non-voting board observer at OpenAI

Altman announced that Microsoft will join OpenAI’s board as an observer, with no voting rights, after taking over as CEO. The investor will be able to observe board meetings at OpenAI and will have access to all confidential information; however, they will not be able to vote on issues such as selecting or electing directors.

Who is Dee Templeton?

As the first female technical employee at Microsoft New Zealand, she started her career there 25 years ago. Since then, she has had the chance to contribute in engineering and product roles across a variety of divisions and technologies.
Overseeing the activities of the almost 1,500 scientists and engineers that make up Microsoft‘s Technology & Research organisation, Templeton serves as an advisor to Kevin Scott, CTO and EVP of AI. She oversees a group that creates and maintains some of Microsoft’s most important technological alliances, such as the cross-functional group in charge of the advancement of cooperative efforts with OpenAI.
