A troubling incident took place on the sets of Pati Patni Aur Woh 2, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan. Reports say a crew member was allegedly attacked by local residents in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. The main accused has finally been arrested after police enquiry.
Here’s What Happened On Pati Patni Aur Woh 2 Set
The alleged incident happened on Thornhill Road on August 27. Zoheb Solapurwala (the production head of BR Chopra Films) was reportedly targeted by some locals while filming. Following the attack, the film’s line producer, Saurabh Tiwari, filed a complaint, which led to an FIR at Civil Lines Police Station on August 28.
The police confirmed the arrest of the main accused, identified as Meraj Ali. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (City) Abhijeet Kumar said the authorities have taken the necessary action.
The incident has raised concerns across the film industry. The All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) shared their reaction on social media. They wrote, “During the shooting of the film Pati Patni Aur Woh 2 in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, a shocking incident occurred in broad daylight where local goons attacked members of the film crew on set – right in front of everyone.”
The association also appealed to the state government and said, “We appeal to Honourable Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath Ji to take strict action and ensure such disgraceful incidents never happen again and restore confidence in Uttar Pradesh as a safe shooting destination.”

The film is directed by Mudassar Aziz, who helmed the 2019 hit Pati Patni Aur Woh. The sequel ( tentatively titled Pati Patni Aur Woh 2) will star Ayushmann Khurrana, Sara Ali Khan, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Rakul Preet Singh. Aziz has confirmed that the film will bring a fresh angle, focusing on the female perspective, and promises an engaging story.
The original 2019 movie, a remake of the 1978 classic, featured Kartik Aaryan, Bhumi Pednekar, and Ananya Panday. It was a commercial hit, earning over Rs 117 crore worldwide and earning a loyal fan base.
Currently, there’s no official update on the release date or additional casting for the sequel. Filming is ongoing, with extra security measures in place to protect the crew.
