Rahul Gandhi Takes a Strong Stance Against BJP and RSS

During the opening of Congress's new office, "Indira Bhawan," Rahul Gandhi made a bold assertion, stating, "Do not think we are fighting a fair fight. If you believe we are fighting against a political organization called BJP and RSS, they have captured almost every institution in our country." He elaborated, explaining that the BJP and RSS have taken control of most key institutions in India. He further said, "We are now fighting not just the BJP and RSS, but the Indian state itself."

Rahul Gandhi raised significant concerns about the functioning of the Election Commission, particularly in relation to the Maharashtra elections. "I clearly stated that something went wrong in the Maharashtra elections. We are uncomfortable with the way the Election Commission operates. The sudden appearance of almost one crore new voters between the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections in Maharashtra is problematic."

He further criticised the Election Commission for withholding vital information. "It is the Election Commission's duty to provide a voters' list with names and addresses of those who voted in the Vidhan Sabha election. However, the Election Commission has refused to provide this information," he stated, calling it a failure of transparency and accountability. He challenged the institution, demanding, "Why is the Election Commission refusing to make the voter list transparent? What purpose is served by withholding this list?"

Rahul Gandhi on RSS Ideology

Rahul Gandhi's speech took a sharp turn as he attacked the BJP and RSS's ideology. "Our ideology did not emerge yesterday. Our ideology, like the RSS' ideology, is thousands of years old. It has been fighting the RSS ideology for thousands of years.," he said, asserting that Congress's values had been fighting the RSS’s ideology for centuries. Rahul Gandhi questioned the RSS's ideological foundations, stating, "We have our symbols. We have Shiva, Buddha, Guru Nanak, Kabir and Mahatma Gandhi. These are the symbols that showed the right path to our country."

He pointed out that the RSS had no ideological ties to key figures in India's spiritual history. "Was Guru Nanak from the RSS ideology? Was Buddha from the RSS ideology? Was Krishna Bhagwan from the RSS ideology? Not a single one. Because every single one of these people fought for equality and brotherhood."

He concluded by reinforcing that Congress's ideology was rooted in these inclusive symbols, questioning the RSS's claim to represent the true spirit of India.

Rahul Gandhi Makes Appeal to Congress Workers at Indira Bhawan

Rahul Gandhi also made a strong emotional appeal to Congress workers, reminding them of the sacrifices made by the party’s leaders. "The last thing I would like to say is that this building has emerged from the blood of our workers, from every single one of our leaders. That includes all of you, who are today defending the idea of the Congress party," he said.

Rahul Gandhi also praised Congress members, stating, "Everybody in this room is under severe assault defending the ideas of the Congress party. Sometimes we forget it. But these people in this room are facing systematic attack and assault on their lives because they are in the Congress party, and they are not surrendering to the BJP and the RSS."

BJP Responds to Rahul Gandhi’s Claims

In response to Rahul Gandhi's remarks, BJP leader and Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri countered the accusations. He questioned how a party that has contributed to India’s freedom struggle and produced several prime ministers could now claim to be fighting against the Indian state. "What can I say? If the LoP who belongs to a political party which claims to have contributed to India's freedom struggle and which has produced several PMs, of that party has deteriorated to a point that they are now fighting the India State," Puri remarked.

Hardeep Singh Puri acknowledged that the BJP's long-standing success in elections might have overshadowed the Congress, he also defended the RSS, calling it a cultural organization with a philosophy rooted in patriotism. "The RSS is a cultural organization that takes pride in placing the nation first. I believe this is the philosophy that defines India as a nation," he said, dismissing Rahul Gandhi’s claims about the RSS and BJP's hold over the state apparatus.
