Pune Viral Video: A deeply saddening CCTV footage from a popular gym in Pune is going viral. One middle-aged man suddenly collapsed and lost his life while doing his morning workout in the Nitro gym in Chinchwadgaon.

This leaves a greater lesson for the fitness enthusiast. One needs to ensure their health permits the workout they are having. Shocking video leaves netizens to demand that CPR education be made mandatory for gym trainers.

Young Man Collapses at Pune Gym

A tragic incident took place at Nitro Gym in Chinchwadgaon, Pune, where 39-year-old Milind Kulkarni collapsed during his morning workout. He was quickly rushed to Moraya Hospital but was declared dead on arrival. Preliminary reports point to a sudden heart attack. Pune Mirror shared CCTV footage of the moment on their X handle.

The video shows Kulkarni walking through the gym before suddenly collapsing. Fellow gym-goers rushed to his side and tried to help, but it was too late. The incident has sparked serious concerns over the need for proper health screenings and emergency protocols in gyms, especially during high-intensity workouts.

Netizens Are Noting The Importance of CPR Education

This shocking footage yet again made the netizens worry about excessive gymming without knowing their physical ability. Thus, they came out raising awareness by saying, “Rest and Recovery is also important, Pushing your limits isn't always good”.

People are saying it is the high-intensity workouts that often lead to gym deaths. They say, “Most cardiac arrest cases are seen in gym - Lifting heavy weights without analyzing your strength, very high intensity workouts”. While others are pointing out the fact that no one is trying to give him the CPR that could have saved his life. They say, “You will see no one will try or even have a thought of doing CPR ! This could save many lives”.

People are pointing out that “CPR EDUCATION IS COMPULSORY ... GYM SHOULD HAVE CPR KIT”. They are demanding “Mandatory CPR training and AED devices should be installed in all the gyms”, as such cases of heart attacks in the gym are now happening on a regular basis.

Heart Health Should Come First

The tragic incident in Pune has raised fresh concerns about the importance of heart health in fitness routines. After the age of 35, high-intensity workouts can pose serious risks if done without proper medical guidance. Monthly heart screenings like ECGs or stress tests are essential, especially for those with a family history of heart issues. Experts warn that overexertion or undiagnosed cardiac problems can lead to fatal outcomes, even in fit-looking individuals.

Similar incidents have happened before. A 52-year-old man in Jabalpur collapsed during a workout and died from a heart attack. In Ghaziabad, a 26-year-old died while running on a treadmill. A 22-year-old in Mumbai also collapsed after lifting weights. These cases show how crucial it is to understand your heart’s limits before pushing your body. Regular checkups and safe workout plans tailored to personal health can help avoid such tragedies.

Exercise Safety Requires More Than Just Equipment

Safety in the gym is not just about machines or workouts. It’s about having trained supervision and emergency support. Trainers must monitor middle-aged clients closely and adjust workout plans to fit individual needs. A generic fitness routine can be dangerous if it ignores personal health conditions.

In Milind Kulkarni’s case, no one administered CPR in time. If even top urban gyms lack basic emergency support, it raises serious concerns. Smaller suburban gyms may be even less equipped. Cardiologists stress that gyms must have emergency protocols, CPR-trained staff, and defibrillators on-site.

In emergencies, every second counts. Quick CPR or defibrillator use can double survival chances. Many gyms, however, are still unprepared for such situations. Choosing a gym with proper safety infrastructure is just as important as choosing the right workout. Safety must be a core part of fitness, not an afterthought.
