Donald Trump-Severe Warning Amid Peace Deal Discussions
Presently, peace deal discussions are underway between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America. However, Trump issued a stern and open threat to the leadership of Iran by commenting that the United States has done its job in Iran and would be exiting soon but not before obliterating Iran’s oil wells, electric plants and Kharg Islands if a deal is not reached soon.

Why Kharg Island Matters So Much?
Kharg Island is a small island but it handles around 90 percent of Iran’s oil exports. The island connects major oil fields to international markets and serves as a crucial node in the Persian Gulf energy network. Any disruption could choke the ability of Iran to export oil. However, it would also mean that all ships and oil tankers proceeding from the strategic Strait of Hormuz would not be unable to reach their destinations. This would lead to a massive surge in Brent Crude prices.
Trump warned that oil wells, power generation facilities and desalination plants that are critical for water supply would be targeted. This would mark an important shift from targeting military assets to potentially crippling civilian and economic infrastructure. It could lead to global oil price increases that may further cause higher fuel and transport costs. It would also put major world economies into serious troubles as most nations are dependent on the smooth and uninterrupted functioning of the Strait of Hormuz.
