Earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1 Strikes Japan’s Toba

Japan: The weather agency reported on Monday that an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1 occurred off the southeast coast of Japan’s Mie Prefecture.

How did the event unfold?

The temblor struck around 5.09 p.m. (local time) and was centred at a latitude of 33.6 degrees north and a longitude of 137.5 degrees east, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).
The JMA reported that the earthquake happened 350 kilometers beneath the surface. According to the JMA, the earthquake, which registered a 4 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale with a peak of 7 in Fukushima and Ibaraki prefectures, was felt as far south as Shizuoka and as far north as Aomori prefecture.

Additionally, it registered a 3 on the seismic scale in a number of places, including Tokyo, Chiba, Saitama, Tochigi, Kanagawa, according to the weather agency.
