Donald Trump: A fragile resolution to the Gaza conflict may be on the horizon. In an unprecedented development, Hamas has agreed to some of the components of former President Trump‘s 20-point peace plan, which involves the release of hostages. In response, Trump urged Israel to stop bombing “immediately,” and India’s Prime Minister Modi commended the measures and even suggested hope for a lasting peace.

Hamas Agrees to Major Demands

Hamas has indicated that it is ready to comply with the major demands of Trump’s plan. They are:

  • Release of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners
  • Withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza
  • Delivery of humanitarian assistance
  • Prevention of Palestinian expulsion from the territory

This shift is viewed as a reaction to Trump’s ultimatum: accept the plan or endure even greater pressure by the deadline he gave.

Trump’s Action and Demand for a Ceasefire

In addition to brokering the agreement, Trump reported that he is also encouraging Israel to immediately halt its bombing of Gaza, insisting that the pause is necessary for the release of the hostages. Trump also called the moment “unprecedented,” and urged all sides to complete the arrangements and make a lasting peace.

Modi’s Support: India Supports the Peace Efforts

PM Modi took to social media to praise Trump’s leadership, calling the release of the hostages a “big step forward” in the peace efforts. He reiterated India’s support for a fair and lasting peace in the region, along with the wider diplomatic push.

What This Means for the Gaza War

Although the acceptance of key demands is positive, there are still a number of hurdles to overcome:

  • Translating the agreement into action on the ground
  • Ensuring compliance by all parties
  • Navigating opposing regional agendas
  • Preventing escalation

The road to peace remains narrow and tenuous, but this development has provided some hope after so long in conflict.

The Gaza war may not be over yet — but there seems to be evidence of progress. With Hamas agreeing to significant demands, Trump urging a bombing ceasefire, and world figures like Modi applauding the same thing for public consumption, this could be the turning point. Whether the next steps are peaceful, and therefore beneficial, will depend on a commitment to follow through, mutual trust, and a determination to reach a diplomatic resolution, either between Israel and Hamas, or regional partners, or nationally.
