North Korea has tested new nuclear-capable of underwater attack: Report

North Korea has tested an underwater nuclear capable attack drone. Al Jazeera has given this information on Friday quoting the country’s official news agency KCNA.

Significantly, the drone remained underwater for 59 consecutive hours before being destroyed as part of a drill to intimidate the US and South Korean armed forces.

The North Korean military deployed and tested a new weapon system this week during a military exercise ordered by Kim Jong Un to determine whether it could produce a deadly blast and wave on a ‘super-scale’.

“This nuclear underwater attack drone can be deployed at any coast and port or towed by a surface ship for operation,” the news agency said

According to KCNA, ‘This underwater attack nuclear weapon can be launched on any coast and port or can be operated when towed by a surface ship.’

According to several media reports, the underwater nuclear-capable attack drone that Pyongyang has tested can also bring a ‘radioactive tsunami’.

The drone was launched into the sea off South Hamgyeong province on Tuesday as an experiment, and spent 59 hours and 12 minutes (260 to 490 minutes) at a depth of about 80 to 150 metres, before exploding on Thursday.

However, South Korean news agency Yonhap said the drone’s final target point was a simulated enemy port in the waters of Hongwon Bay, Al Jazeera quoted this media report as saying.

The drone exercise comes as the US B-1B strategic bomber returned to South Korea on Sunday, 16 days after its first deployment, to take part in joint military drills, as Pyongyang conducted an air strike in the East Sea. And the ballistic missile is tainted. Yonhap News Agency has given this information quoting the Ministry of Defense.

According to the ministry, it took place in the skies over the Korean Peninsula as part of the ongoing Freedom Shield exercise since March 13. South Korea’s F-35A stealth fighter aircraft and US F-16 fighter aircraft are also involved in this exercise.

According to a Yonhap news report, a B-1B bomber was deployed to the peninsula on March 3

The deployment was seen as a show of force against North Korea, with Pyongyang firing a short-range ballistic missile towards the East Sea. North Korea fired a short-range ballistic missile three days after Pyongyang test-fired the Hwasong-17 intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM).
