Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 is a standalone sequel to the 1997 classic Border. Instead of focusing on a single battle, the film showcases key events from the 1971 Indo-Pak War, including the Battle of Basantar, the Battle of Poonch and the sinking of INS Khukri.
The story follows three friends who train together and later lead their respective forces into combat. Sunny Deol reprises his iconic role as Lt Col Fateh Singh Kaler, while Varun Dhawan plays Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya. Diljit Dosanjh is Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, and Ahan Shetty makes his debut as Lt Cdr M.S. Rawat. Female leads include Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa and Medha Rana.
Made on a massive budget of Rs 275 crore, Border 2 is one of India’s costliest war dramas. Released on January 23, 2026, during the Republic Day weekend, the film is expected to stream on Netflix later in March or April 2026.
